So after a year of not smoking weed at all, I decided to try it again over the weekend.
Just for a bit of background I smoked weed most days out of the week for about 10 years prior to my year of cannabis abstinence.
On the first day I was surprised how hard and fast it hit me. I packed one bowl of my bong and the first one had me knocked on my ass. I ended up just having another bong hit about half an hour later and leaving it for the day. I braced myself so was able avoid coughing.
My thoughts/perspective seemed to shift immediately, which was both good and bad. My neck and shoulders felt less sore then they had been which is a definite plus but I also felt very tired and lethargic.
My eyes would go red for a while after taking the bong hits. My mouth also went very dry.
In terms of physical performance I was able to run about as well on the first day, didn't run my best on the second or third day, but not bad.
I also found myself wanting to sleep a lot more and going for naps which wasn't really that great. This was definitely more of a body high than a head high, although there were elements of both.
Overall an interesting experience. I'd built up such a tolerance from smoking so heavily and so often over the years that it was kind of refreshing to just have a couple of bong hits have such an intense effect.
I did seem to enjoy food and music more.
I guess I wasn't in a very good headspace going into it, as I just generally had thoughts that I'm unsatisfied with my life even before smoking it.
When I got into it as a teenager I recall uncontrollable laughing fits, getting the munchies and how good it felt to eat, listening to music, an almost psychedelic experience.
It seemed like such a fun and cool thing to do. These days I'm not too sure.
I don't want to make it a habit again, but once in a blue moon won't hurt. Besides, I didn't have to pay for this stuff.
Maybe I'll try making edibles like brownies and yogurts sometime in the future instead of smoking. Haven't done that in many years.
