After six proved such a bloody disaster (and Revelations proved the more traditional R:E stuff made money) Capcom announced they were going to do "some sort" of reboot. It seems to borrow very heavily from the influences P.T had on the horror gaming genre and thanks to Konami being suicidal in the gaming market by cancelling Silent Hills and winding up Kojima Studios they have the field.

Speaking of Kojima; The trailer to his first new game under Sony.

Death Stranding:

The thing to note with some amusement is it seems Kojima wasn't the only one burned by the cancellation and treatment. It seems he struck up a genuine and warm friendship with Norman Reedus who posted the following to Instagram:

Apparently it's a bad thing if Microsoft releases an upgraded Xbox when Sony is going to do the same thing and it's a miracle. People who JUST bought the standard models second hand or they didn't have a reason to get either right away don't give a shit.

I need to stop watching E3 altogether.

Is anyone else annoyed that every game now has to have the saturation and bloom dialed up to 200%? I get that companies want to show of their fancy new graphics engines but Christ, half the new games look like Pixar movies had sex with a cotton candy machine.

Sony fanboys are the worst. They'll do anything to make Sony look good no matter how dumb the decisions are.

I misfired a rating on tablet, have an agree as compensation, sorry... :heart-empty:

n4g is probably a candidate for a Community Discussion thread.

That makes me wonder whether or not it'll affect the remakes of 2 (and possibly 3).

So am I. I seem to recall that the original play was to have Kratos fight and kill off other pantheons and gods (specifically norse and egyptian) but that idea got scrapped for one reason of another. I guess with this new game they might be going with a similar idea. Maybe not with killing other gods, but instead training various legendary heroes (the rumors going around that the boy is possibly Sigurd).
My Brother was under the impression that this was a reboot until I pointed out the scars of the chain blades on his forearms. I'm guessing this is a sequel after Kratos resolved his daddy and anger issues and somehow fixed the world he completely fucked up and decided it would be best to calm down. It looks interesting to see where it goes. I'm interested to find out more.

Don't forget chromatic aberration. Every game has to have chromatic aberration now.

It sounds like they're going for a soft reboot of the franchise.
I don't necessarily think it's the case (but I also hope it doesn't). Just that to try and go back to the basics/roots, they have to avoid the overpowered characters that were in 4-6.

"Resident Evil 7 is set after the events of Resident Evil 6, taking place in modern day and revolving around a foreboding, derelict plantation mansion in rural America. Players must explore and survive the horrors within the mysterious, sprawling estate."
The scale of the setting sounds the same as RE1.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind this? Every character being an unstoppable super soldier in 5 and 6 was dumb as hell. I don't understand why everyone is so upset about this.

Color Splash is trash. It's Sticker Star in HD. The music is good, the artstyle is great, writing is decent... but the game practically plays itself. No EXP and the "kill-boss-with-one-item" mechanic is back. It's masturbation.

Who wanted this.

Upset about leaving the superhero characters? I suppose people are worried about not seeing their favourites since they're too powerful for the house situation and it's not possible to revert it at this point. RE:Relevations 2 did well enough with only Claire and Barry; I didn't feel they were too overpowered. I think more people are happier with the gameplay change so they don't mind losing the characters (plus there's so many, others might easily turn up) or care more about the story/universe as a whole.

Nope, you're not the only one. A lot of fans and critics moaned about six being crap and only Leon's campaign being the strongest.

Personally I do hope we see more from our former S.T.A.R.S/current BSAA friends because of how well they've worked as characters and the franchise.

Maybe it's time for a certain Miss Chambers to return to the field?

Rhythm Heaven is out right now! ... but only in America.

Nintendo's region exclusivity is like a trip back to 2010. Why would you still keep games region exclusive if you are a major worldwide studio or of the big three?

I'm sure there's legal reasons for this, it just seems like an unnecessary challenge in the day of piracy.

The Amiibo crisis in the US kind of points to Nintendo's remarkable strategy of creating shortages/spikes in demand elsewhere in the world to gain free advertisement. It was Amiibo's "turn" for the USA, and prior to that the EU and the Wii and it seems now Rhythm Heaven is for everyone else.
