I watched some of the gameplay vids for this game. I am now fully erect, and you better believe I'm buying this shit. I may even pre-order, I am that much of a simp for Dark Souls style games.

Demon's Souls was intended to compete with Elder Scrolls. But due to botched development and mishaps, we got what we got.

So this is a fulfillment of long held back things.
 
Just played the CNT, overall its pretty fun so far. My only complaints so far is that the performance on the PS4 is really mixed and kinda ruined my enjoyment a little bit, its not CP2077 bad but still not the best. Also you need pick between body 1 or body 2 when selecting your gender, it makes me sad as hell that words like "male" or female" are considered controversial now

Demons souls remake had that too but they still had gender specific armor and npcs referring to you as male/female in game.

Many games have that now, they'll do Character A or B or 1 or 2.

How bad would you say the performance on PS4 is, is it Blighttown bad? Dose it drop frames you in the open world or is only when a lot of stuff is on the screen?

I've never played DS1 on PS3/360 but the frame dropping can be pretty bad at times when theres a lot on screen during the open world, dungeons and smaller areas seemed perfectly fine.

Blighttown on the PS3 ran at like 25 fps at all times and under that when there was a lot of physics going on. Do you think it might be Fromsoftware's awful frame pacing like with Bloodborne or legit frame drops?
 
I'm curious to see what George RR Martin's contrubtion is. With maybe the exception of Nioh soulsborne games don't really have formal plots with the story mainly being told through the environment.

Fextralife played something like 70 hours and believes GRRM added in some much need narrative cohesiveness to the NPC/Story along with making the story more accessible instead of "figure it from these random item descriptions and make up your own lore".

GRRM IS really good at building worlds and the people that populate it. He just can't finish a story.

Which works out for a series of games revolving around repeating the cycle.

It's a natural evolution considering Dark Souls was already semi-open world to begin with.

I do wish this was a next gen only game but obviously most people don't have a PS5 yet.

Not to get too off topic, but I remember watching the 90s movie version of Brave New World once where a news program censors the word "father" as "f*****" as if it's a cuss word, I remember how creepy that concept was, but now we're already living in a reality like that if male and female or considered controversial, in fact that's arguably more extreme than making mother and father taboo.

They've always been more about atmosphere and mystery than plot in the traditional sense, I do hope there's more of a formal plot this time around though.

That's usually how people "end" things when they can't write for shit. Anyone can start strong, but writing is a fucking marathon. You gotta keep that shit going.

The people that can't keep up come up with some cyclical bullshit to end the series when they have no idea how to.
