Encounters With SJWs/Tumblristas Offline or In Unusual Communities

I don't know what's worse at my school? The surprisingly high amount of Trump supporters, the very high amount of Hillary supporters, the high amount of pro-Palestine/anti-Israel people, or the people who actually believe that race always matters and should be the number one thing to be aware of and claim everyone and everything is racist. I mean, my school is very liberal and being one of the few students who is not super duper liberal (I've become more or less a right-leaning libertarian over the past few months), I sort of feel isolated.

A couple of my university lecturers spout tumblrisms in classes every so often. I had one lecturer ask if the dystopian society in the sci-fi novel we were reading was a "patriarchal" society, along with another lecturer using the term "trigger warning" when describing the content warning the Marquis de Sade put at the beginning of 120 Days of Sodom.

Whenever they spout tumblristic shit like this I usually don't pay attention because it always leads into some kind of SJW discussion.

I think this kind of behaviour needs to be challenged, start asking how this fosters intellectualism.

From what I know we're given a survey at the end of the semester asking what we thought of the classes, staff etc. I'm going to flag this up in the survey and say that not everybody agrees with modern feminism or social justice bullshit and that it should not be brought into the lessons whatsoever. It's such a shame because my lecturers are mostly nice people.

That sounds about right. I know I was given the survey, but I never had to bring anything like that up, because yeah, science!

Gotta say it was a trip to encounter SJWs that like Fallout. I became aware of them only for the fact that one of them bitched about the concept of the "Tribals" and how it mocked Native Americans in a forum I used to frequent.

I mean, come on. There's a shit-ton of things to be bothered by in a world that has been nuked to shit and they pick survivors who were young children and probably happened upon cowboys & indian material that survived the nuking, emulated it and passed it down through the centuries.
Totally
something to legitly be pissed off at Bethesda for. I'd hate to see that particular SJW encounter Lord of The Flies.

Considering that most tumblr users are in high school, the likelihood of a Lord of the Flies induced freakout is almost assured.

To be fair, Threads is a more accurate representation of what would happen to the world should a nuclear war happen.

I think that would be funny actually. But not the book. Irl.
God yes. In which they'd all be Piggy.
-Except book Piggy was just an unfortunate kid, tumblr would have it coming to them. [/a-log]

Oh god, I'd hate to see the fandom for it on tumblr if they somehow got over the offensiveness and just went straight to ship material. "AU where nothing bad happens to Piggy and Jack because they are my otp! uwu"

^Tumblr doesn't even read, so I would be calm about them not knowing about Lord of the Flies.
They threw a shitfit over The Great Gatsby so it's only a matter of time.

True. Fallout is more "If goofy Sci-fi movies from the 50's were real" than anything.
Or The Road, maybe. I think some of them have actually read The Road and I'm not sure how they handled it because that shit's heavy and they can't handle the slightest of feels that aren't positive uwu.

That being said, I can't wait for the day that some Tumblrista reads 1984 and starts preaching about how it's all a metaphor for the patriarchy.
It's funny, because people are always saying how SJWs want a 1984-esque society. Be kind of amusing if they read the book and were actually triggered by it.

I can't see SJW's lasting long in a society where they're watched and managed just as much as the people they hate.

The part where the guy wants to beat the shit out of the woman and rape her and then kill her would trigger them way too much.[/lit sperg]

Tumblr's stance on Lord of the Flies is that it is only about the brutality of the upper-class British male, and anybody who tries to say it reflects the nature of man is the most wrong ever, because POCs and women would never resort to such a thing. Apparently there's a book some women wrote about a class of girls around the same age being stuck on an island and they have fun and go on adventures... ironic, since William Golding based his book on being disgusted about a novel where a group of British boys did the same thing.

Meanwhile they conveniently ignore the fact that most of their day is spent ripping into each other and calling for blood on the internet.

If you threw a bunch of tumblrinas into Lord of the Flies they'd act exactly the same as they act on tumblr. So it would probably actually be worse than LotF.

THEY BETTER NOT BE TOUCHING MAH GATSBY. :< (But knowing them, they're probably only familiar with the Leo DiCaprio movie...)

As for the "cute AU of tragic literary characters where nothing bad happens"....Oh god the amount of shitty Les Mis fanfic that I've seen with that concept....I mean AUS can work, but when you apply them and other modern concepts to tragic literary figures of the 19th century, it just feels wrong.

.

Jack and Ralph is my OTP. Jack's behaviour towards Ralph in the earlier chapters (before they find the conch and he becomes all evil) is super gay IMHO.

Pretty sure Tumblr has an AU for LOTF where it's all girls that were stuck on the island. I'm certain I read that somewhere on there once.
