Finally happened. I finally met a full on danger hair genderspecial "asexual spectrum" tumblrina. I'd had an encounter with the "tumblr lite" version before but this was full on every tumblr stereotype in person.

They were a trans demi boy non-presenting (he pronouns). They had bright BRIGHT purple hair with blue streaks and they were overweight. They were demipanromantic autocrissexual. And they had pride buttons allll over their vest that told me each of these things. They approached me at a Hot Topic because I had a Pusheen plush in my hand to sperg about Pusheen. I didn't dare ask about the button because holy fuck, I wanted to just buy my stupid plush cat and leave.

It's not actually the spreading part that irritates most people, it's spreading out on top of other people. If no one is sitting next to you or waiting for a seat, have at it. Just don't take 3/4 of my seat and jam me into the corner with your knees because you felt like airing your crotch out. I'm sure there are a few people batshit enough to get angry over just spreading your legs when it doesn't bother anyone, but they are not the majority.

Last night I learned that my boyfriend's chill bestie believes in the institutional systemic racism described by SJWs.

As soon as my family--a herd of whities--entered the establishment, she had the biggest bitch face you can imagine. She very rudely snapped that the closing time we read was for the bar, not the restaurant. We can still be served, but we can't dawdle. Dad was "Ok" about it. She then mentions very snippy that there is an 18% gratuity for parties 6+. Dad was "Ok" and she left for a moment. (Dad tips 20% anyways so joke's on her). Part of our party is missing still as she comes back. She was once again very snappy that if our full party doesn't arrive within 2 minutes, we will have to order for them because time is running out. Again, Dad was "Ok" about it.

During all of this, she never once addressed the party of 3 who came in after us--two asian dudes and an asian woman.

I have an Asian anecdote. When I used to go out, I would stop at this neighborhood joint for one last shot and a beer. It was really close to my house so it was the perfect place to stop in for a nightcap before going home and getting in bed.

Anyway, there was another bar across the street from that one, stayed open late, always had a bunch of cars in the front. My cop buddy told me it was a great place, he did a detail there and they fed him all this food, he loved it and recommended the place highly.

I decide to check it out on the way home one night, like I said before, it was packed, full parking lot. I go through the door, there's like 20 Asians sitting at the bar, laughing, carrying on, ordering more drinks. The bartender sees me and "Oh, we're closed."

No big deal, I wouldn't have wanted to spend much time there anyway. I already knew it but since I'm a jackass I wanted to "test" my theory, so the next week I stop there an hour earlier than the last time, same night of the week too, and the same busy scene "Oh, we're closed, sorry." lol

Actually, a lot of my friends in the English major also majored in Fanfiction Studies. They did it by changing the names on their fanfics and turning them in as original novels. Considering how hard a time I had getting the profs to even accept stories with fantasy/horror elements, the "novels" about half-demon-half-angel prettyboys with purple hair ... did not go over well.

I hope to God it's never been declared an official major, though.

I hope so too, it's hard enough getting people to take you seriously with a dual Writing-English degree. Now we get lumped in with them.

-To be fair she usually gave them the lowest marks because they did follow through with the page requirement and prompt in a timely manner, it was just not safe for sanity to read them they were so mind-numbingly boring slice-of-life things with exceptional half-neko-werewolf-vampire protags and their lovequests.

I was doing the same combo of majors, and I know how you feel. Most of the profs had no patience with genre fiction in general, which was a huge PITA for those of us that wanted to write mystery, fantasy, etc., but once I saw some of the stuff my fellow CRW students were trying to pull, I understood.

Unfortunately, sometimes the profs fell in love with the bullshit because it was sufficiently crazy enough to be considered outre. There was one project I recall was ... well, shit, I can't identify it because potential powerlevel and all, but suffice it to say it was the kind of weird creepy shit that turns up on fanfiction dot net all the time, but it was such a mess that the professor actually thought it was ~artistic~ and trying to make some kind of societal statement. Granted, this prof was the same guy who would shit on straight fantasy and romance so it was hard to credit his opinion, but it burned some of us up to see him praising this word vomit.

This reminds me of one of my best friends in college's girlfriend/eventual wife. She worked at a little restaurant and she had an awful night this one time. Busy as hell and didn't make very much of anything in the way of tips, so she gets on Facebook that night and starts bitching about her black customers who fucked her over that night to another friend.

This chick wasn't a prejudiced person in the slightest, she liked rap music for God's sake, she was just in a bad mood and felt like venting her frustration to someone else towards those particular black customers she dealt with that night. Anyway, other people on Facebook joined in who weren't even addressed to be included in the conversation, people she went to middle/high school with (a high school that had a segregated prom well into the mid 2000s by the way lol).

Anyway, these people, supposed friends who she grew up with and went to school with, started taking the cheapskate customers side. I couldn't believe it. Some kinda way it got back to her work and they actually fired her!!!

It was silly for her to post anything slightly offensive on a public Facebook, I just couldn't believe that her own friends didn't have her back on this, and that some rat actually told her job on her.

Even if you were to go back 200 years when slavery was still "a thing" these college creeps, who like you said, were in college so clearly they had money(well, they had their parent's money) had the audacity, the rudeness, and the condescending, racist attitude that their white waiter, likely a young person as well, who may or may not have been able to afford college herself, took the blame from these disgusting individuals who could't throw a 20% tip to a waitress in a restaurant (where if they were in such need for reparations, they wouldn't be able to afford "eating out" at a restaurant in the first place.

If this is true a story, which is likely is based upon similar and oftentimes even much worst stories, life is going to be a severe shock to them when they get out of the "safety bubble" of the University "safe space" atmosphere and enter the workforce, where there are consequences for your actions and your bosses and superiors don't give a fuck what color you are, if you start fucking around at work and talking that reparations shit and about "micro aggressions", "safe spaces", etc. they aren't going to give a flying fuck and will likely try their best to get your ass right out the door, because clearly you don't want these snowflakes talking that shit about their coworkers, ruining morale, and making everyone uncomfortable around them.

That story is true. The guy not only admitted to it, he was proud of it. I haven't heard from the guy since, but he bragged about how there were no repercussions for him whatsoever and he was going to finish his studies and come back to teach at Oxford which means he'll be indoctrinating impressionable young people with his hateful claptrap. If a white person had done what he did to a black person they would've been kicked out of Oxford or faced some kind of social backlash. I'm not saying everyone was cheering this guy on but there was nowhere near the level of contempt such behaviour deserves.

Imagine this. You're at a meeting with a client and your trainee is with you. Bit odd looking, chunksome, and wears terrible glasses, but has a degree from a good university, and seems to know what she's doing. It's all going okay and then all of a sudden the client sits with his legs too far apart.

Trainee starts hyperventilating and frowning at him and then, just as he's about to sign, blurts out, "MAN SPREADING! CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE I CAN'T EVEN!"

Alarmed, the client makes excuses and leaves and you never see him again.

Tumblrina just cost you business. But you can't get rid of her because it's nigh impossible to fire trainee solicitors because of SRA rules. You groan as you realise you've another two years of this to endure.

For the reasons you mentioned, I just can't imagine these Tumblr types being able to make it in the private sector. The only place that would likely put up to them (and they may even thrive, ugh) would be in a public sector job, working for the Federal Government or a State Government, at least in the United States. Even the most generous employee working in Human Resources doesn't have time to hear all the bullshit about "mansplaining", "man spreading", or the latest I heard about in England, the fact that offices are sexist because of air-conditioning and woman get cold easier than men, so the fact that air-conditioning in the office is on, its obviously sexist.

By that line of thinking, btw, wouldn't it be just as sexist against the men in the office to turn the air-conditioning off in the office because that would make the men working in there miserable? If you get cold easily, (I'm a male and I get cold easily) I keep a jacket in my office if its particularly cold in the office that day. It's an easy solution to a nonsense problem. If you get cold, keep a jacket close by. But if you listen to these petty snowflakes, they want the air-conditioning off because of "sexism". If you make the office hot, those in the office that are uncomfortable have no other options. They can't sit in their office with their shirts off lol, think of the hell that would cause the feminists.
