England and Russia had a match yesterday, which ended in a draw (1-1) - a miracle for Russia, because their defence (with the exception of goalkeeper Akinfeev) was hilariously awful. There were numerous fights between Russian and English fans in and around the stadium afterwards. French police couldn't separate them apart.

Hotheaded Europeans on Reddit and Twitter (mostly from the UK and, unsurprisingly, Ukraine) now call for Russia to be completely banned from all football competitions. However, by the same logic, if riots committed by Ultras are a valid reason for a country to get the South African treatment, England should have been banned a long time ago, back in the 1980s.

I hope England do get disqualified. Work are being cunts about the football. Acting like something's wrong with me because when I had the staff TV to myself I turned over to watch me some motherfucking Die Hard!

I'm of the opinion that the Welsh will go on to win this tournament somehow and I would support this wholeheartedly.

English football hools are obviously awful people, but at least they got reprimanded by their politicians, whereas Russians involved in riots were praised for "defending the country's honour".

Honestly i'm not holding out much hope for Ireland, Sweden was the only team I felt we had a reasonable chance against and we drew that because of an OG from Kieran Clark. Hopefully we can hold Belgium to a draw and hope for 3rd and we do well enough to get through that way

That MP, Igor Lebedev, is a nationalist nutjob from LDPR and a son of similarly nutty Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who leads that party. He isn't the kind of guy that actually represents official Russian position. He's a perfect guy for articles ramping up anti-Russian outrage, that's for sure.

Officials like the Minister of Sport and the head of Russia's football federation Vitaly Mutko, for example, condemned the violence and backed UEFA.

"That's right, there were flares, there were rockets, there were clashes in the stands, we need to investigate. We will prepare, we will represent our position properly. There's nothing to riddle. The fans cheered up nicely, but there are people who don't show up for football. They should be identified, so they won't go anywhere. They think they're such "nice guys" for someone, and the 140 million country, the host country of the next World Cup backs them - they discredit it and think it's okay" - Mutko said in a phone call with 'R-Sport'"

He's deputy speaker of the parliament. Or are you trying to tell me that the parliament is irrelevant in Russia?

I am sorry I missed that game - I caught its core highlights on YouTube, however. Belgium got what was coming to them with their shoddy defense. Damn shame, too - seeing as at least their offense was trying; Italy's defense was just too good in the end, as well.

As for Ireland 1 - 1 Sweden, Ireland should have had that - it wasn't for that fucking idiotic own goal!

FACT: This is Hungary's 2nd official win in the UEFA tourneys since the 60's - this is truly a glorious moment for their national soccer team, knowing that much.
 
Last game of Group F: Portugal 1 - 1 Iceland

Highlights (WARNING: This vid is NOT in English):

Thoughts: I'm surprised this ended in a tie at all... Portugal dominated in terms of Shots on Goal, Possesion, Defense, Offense, fair play - everything. I'm glad they didn't win like they usually do, but why am I glad, when the truth is clearly obvious that Iceland got lucky with being in the right position to make that equalizer??? UGH.

Another 2 matches have come and gone...

Switzerland 1 - 1 Romania

Thoughts (1): Romania only tied because of a CHEAP AS FUCK goal from a penalty shot. Damn Swissies won this one, as far as I'm concerned - they actually earned their goal in the 2nd half!

Slovakia 2 - 1 Russia

Thoughts (2): I'm looking forward to Russia being sent home, alongside England after this success story for Slovakia. Slovaks kicked some major ass today. Russia looked lazy as fuck and only made this a close game at the last minute, overall.
