I think it has more to do with pornography laws then it has to do with age of consent, but the same logic applies either way.

Something Alex and a lot of his defenders don't understand is that because Alex is American, he doesn't get to use the excuse that "It's okay in Japan, so it should be fine right?" (Even though it really isn't, it's just not as frowned upon over there as it is over here, but that's besides the point). It doesn't matter if the game takes place in America, Japan, or fucking Australatina, it doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day, Alex was born in, raised in, and currently lives in the America, and he should be practicing the ethical standards of America.

Besides, if Alex wants to use the excuse that the game is set in Japan, then maybe he should try to make a more realistic portrayal of modern day Japan. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it shouldn't make me constantly go "Yeah this isn't very accurate to modern day Japan".

He's also, in typical Alex fashion, twisting the point. Nobody really cared about the highschoolers killing highschoolers angle. There's also not anything inherently degenerate about watching a show or reading a story where 16 year old characters fall in love or whatever. What becomes degenerate is when you, the reader/viewer, talk about how you want to fuck said 16 year old character. In YanSim, the part people took issue with is you, the player, are choosing to have your player controlled avatar take panty shots of underage characters.

It's different than video game violence because that is very much detached from real violence. It isn't trying to emulate actual murder nor is it trying to highlight the thrill of killing teenagers. It's just a way to overcome an obstacle. But panty pictures of underage girls? That's harder to justify as anything but fap material. I guess to go back to the violence example, there'd be a similar outcry if there was more involved gameplay mechanics where you spend several minutes graphically (at least as graphically as Alex is capable of with his limited assets) torturing high school girls. Then it would definitely be some gore porn. But his examples, at least the stuff I recognize, doesn't do either of those things.

But, there are actual examples of games/shows that did tread the line about sexualizing minors. Cuties is the most recent example that comes to mind, so Alex can't even claim that this is just a personal thing where he's the only one who gets called out.

Even with Lunar Scythe - people think, that it is his real passion project, but the truth is that he spammed /v/ with Luna not because we wanted a better design, he just threw around concepts that he liked and hoped that other people will like it too, proving his taste superior. Even when /v/ was sucking his dick (believe me, it looked incredibly pathetic), after the slightest sign of enmity he would cry "why should I stay here if people don't like me?", perfectly reflecting his future behavior with suicide threats. I used to think he was just a jackass, but he actually has mental issues. He just keeps making fuck up after fuck up, and just claims that it’s not his fault, and the cause of it was outside forces. He actually reminds me a lot of Walker from Spec Ops The Line.

- Exaggerated self-importance - Alex is nothing more than idea guy behind YS, yet he considers himself to be the heart of the project. Also, sperging about his salary.
- Sense of entitlement and need for constant admiration - yes and yes. His convo with Mike Z is a perfect example where he outright says it. Also, his departure from chans.
- Expects to be seen as superior with nothing to warrant it - "ISN'T THAT IMPRESSIVE THAT I"VE MADE some basic level shit with stolen assets IN THREE MONTHS?" Him looking down upon clones and fangames as "unoriginal copies", even though YS is basically crippled mechanics from Persona 5 and Hitman with bought assets.
- Fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty and perfect mate - "Kickstarter will hit 1 000 000", "fantasies about other games that he will make", "YS is as complex as Hitman and Persona and you see a mountain there that you can climb", LOL NO and MAI WAIFU "I've always wanted a girlfriend who acted youthful, babyish, feminine, innocent, naive, childlike, pure,
uncomplicated, unsophisticated, trusting, charming, polite, pleasant, sweet, lovable, cute, cypheric, malleable..."
- Believe that they are superior and can interact only with equals - multiple times he sperged about children on his Discord server, how he melted down on loserz forums calling people all kinds of things, how he called Sisefs a child, when she tried to help him with his homework from college.
- Monopolize conversation - all the censorship on every fucking account and place that he owns. Also, 3000 for subreddit just to stop people from shitting on him.
- Expect favors and compliance - this man wants people with professional level of skill i.e. good enough to be paid to work for him for free.
- Take advantage of others to get what they want - Sisefs and Alex literally calling Mulberry a useful tool without realizing what's wrong with that.
- Inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others - Alex melting down over his parents trying to put him into college, him being interested in Sisefs only as a living Real Doll, his convo with Cleveland, where he doesn't get why is he even mad over Kris drama
- Be envious and thinks that other envy him - Alex envied guys with girlfriends IRC, then sperged in his private chat, that his critics "have no talent, so they use their time to shit on others"
- Arrogant, pretentious and conceited - just read anything that he posted anywhere, from his Gaia posts to his rape fanfics, from 4chan posts to examiner articles, it's him in a nutshell
- Insist of having best of everything - not sure about that, you are free to correct me.

Also

- Impatient and angry when they don't have shit their way - every forum and board that Alex left after a meltdown, him talking other devs into canceling their games, all the people that he banned everywhere, all the times when he raged at games, that fucking time when he was 22 y-o and his mother cut steak for his small nephew but not for him
- Easily feel slighted - see above
- React with rage and contempt, try to belittle other people - GREMLINS and all the sperging about children on his discord, untalented people and trolls
- Have difficulties with regulating emotions and behavior - threatening Apedois with suicide, "I want to kill my parents", CUPHEAD
- Problems with stress and adapting to change - JUST FUCKING LOOK AT HIS FACE and him being shitty coder and game designer for almost a decade.
- Depressed and moody when he falls short of perfection - all the time
- Secret feelings of insecurity, Hate and shame, vulnerability and humiliation - if Alex didn't have those, he wouldn't come blame his downfall on gremlins and trash drama youtubers.

Problems

- Relationship - Alex had problems with any kind, that aren't blindly kissing his ass
- Problems at work and school - YES
- Depression and anxiety - just look at all the shit this nigga does post 2019
- Physical health problems - obviously
- Drugs and alcohol - ONLY CUM MILK
- Suicidal thoughts and behavior - only to make people do what he wants

Keep in mind, that diagnosis based on online activity is the worst type of diagnosis.
