Fallout 76 General Thread - Bethesda does it again!

Okay, so some people are speculating that the ATX tag is legacy code left over from development, and that Bethesda were planning on monetizing the game in every way they could, from lunchboxes to the perk cards, and only decided not to because they saw what happened with EA over the Battlefront II scandal so they got cold feet.
Now, Bethesda's Fallout 76 fanboys have taken this to mean that Bethesda dindu nuffin and is a gud boi , but I'm not buying that for a moment.

Let's say I saw a pretty girl I wanted to fuck. So I buy some rope, find an abandoned warehouse, and plan to abduct and rape her because I'm an immoral piece of human garbage. But wait, what's this?! Her dad is a cop and she owns several guns and knows fucking akido?! Nope, not gonna do it. I might end up dead or in prison, which would be bad for me!

Hey, I'm such a swell guy for not raping that girl, aren't I?

Not a chance in fucking hell. If someone intends, plans and actively prepares to do something fucked up, then decides not to because of the potential consequences to themselves that doesn't make them a fucking saint. They're the same shitty person they were while planning that shit.

So far as I'm concerned Bethesda let the mask slip and guess what was beneath it?

It can't possibly get any worse.
>Free to play
>Community Content
>Guilds
>Expansions for top level players only
>39.99 for said expansions
>Stealth Boys - 1000 atoms
>Player markets caravans
>Level locked areas

Oh, it can get SO much worse...

I hope Bethesda to top the game with horse armor DLC.
You mean this monstrosity?

I'm starting to think someone in Bethesda is purposefully attempting to destroy the Fallout franchise.

People were optimistic that these were removed because Bethesda got cold feet by EA's BF2 debacle. NOPE. Turns out they just did them as late as possible because: 'lol no refunds'

How badly can you burn your rep? Or how much shit do you think your fanboys will eat? My answer is 'a lot' to both. I knew they didn't respect their audience at all. Everything about this game is a fucking debacle from top to bottom. It just doesn't fucking end. They upped the grind, fucked the atom prices and now are adding pay to win micro transactions. What next, when you run out of stamina you have to pay real money to refill it or you can't run anymore? Or you need real money to power your base?

Please Bethesda, combine all the shit of a mobile game and put it into a full price release. You're ALMOST there. You've got a cash shop, you've got fake in game currency, you're getting a pay to win shop. All you need is 'energy'. I know you can fuck up more. I BELIEVE IN YOU.

EDIT:
Alternatively, EA sacked Patrick Sunderland and gave his salary to Todd Howard in order to distract from the disaster that is BF V by having Fallout take the hit.

I don't think this shitpile will ever be free to play, because Bughesda's in way too deep. They vested way too much marketing wank trying to make believe that this is some premium flagship release on par with Skyrim or even Fallout 4. Plus they said all the expansions will be free so they need something to justify that. I can see them do a free to play weekend once they hit a user plateau and they juiced all the lil paypiggies out of every shekel and need fresh bodies. Hell, I'm betting Fourth of July. It'll tie in with their tricentennial shit and their campy 50's patriotism shtick. It's also on a Thursday, a lot of people are taking 4 day weekends and you got all the bored schoolkids on summer vacation so that'll be a perfect time. They'll get you emotionally invested for 10 - 20 or so hours and say "If you buy our game now for $30, we'll throw in 3000 atoms absolutely free of charge! Act Now!" and you're supposed to scratch your thick head and say "Wow! It's like I'm getting the game for free! It's like free money" and they got another sucker.

I guess this is just a natural evolution of Bethesda being head-in-the-sand delusional bags of shit, given that this seems like a natural evolution from their habit of being too lazy and inept to fix their own bugs on their own engine when the fans did it literal decades ago. It's been a dog's age since I've felt this visceral about a company tbh.

Either way, they're desperate to grab money it seems; probably because they're actually in the hole and it wasn't fucking smart to expand so much before you had the scratch on hand to do it.

So apparently you can "fly" (walk on air) in-game through mutations. Is this intentional or another bug?
It's both due to Bethesda not bothering to give a shit about limiting a stacking effect like what the perk cards in this case do. It's not a full on error, but I bet you this was not intended at all.

Fallout 76 Player Count on PS4 Could be Even Lower Than Suspected

My PS4 Life was recently released by Sony, giving players a way to see their 2018 trophies and top games played. However, it seems that the videos may have had an unintended side-effect; giving gamers a way to work out the player counts of games on the PS4. Figures for almost 100 games, including the Fallout 76 player count, have now been calculated by Gamstat. If accurate, it would suggest that the number of Fallout 76 players on PS4 is well below Bethesda’s expectations.

How Accurate is the Figure for PS4 Fallout 76 Player Count?
Gamstat’s methodology for working out player counts is based on two figures. One part of the My PS4 Life videos reveals both the number of people who earned certain trophies, and the percentage of total players who earned that same trophy. In the case of Fallout 76, for instance, 8.3% of players earned the “Photo Bomber” trophy. Specifically, that’s 33,764 players. As a result, it can be calculated that around 406,795 people have played Fallout 76 on PS4, if just under 34,000 constitutes 8.3% of the total player base. Given that PlayStation is currently the dominant console in the console market, that figure is likely to be higher than the player count figure on Xbox One.

That figure, if accurate, is well below Bethesda’s prior claims that the game has “millions” of players. Indeed, other recent releases boast much higher figures. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has around 9.2 million, while FIFA 19 has 12.5 million. However, there’s a few things to take into account before accepting these figures as fact. Firstly, PlayStation has not confirmed the accuracy of the methodology, and is unlikely to do so. As a result, there could be factors at play which people are unaware of.

Some factors that we do know, however, is that in some cases the numbers could be region specific and not reflect the entire global audience of a particular game. Additionally, they may have been taken from a particular window in time as far back as the 20th of November; only shortly after the launch of Fallout 76. Given all of that, you should probably take the figures with a grain of salt. However, even if the exact numbers aren’t accurate, the player count is clearly below expectations; perhaps even more so than already suspected. If so, Bethesda faces an uphill battle to fix Fallout 76’s problems and regain the support of the community in 2019.

So much for "millions".

It all comes tumbling down...

I'm wondering exactly which people in the upper management levels actually thought this would work. I mean it's obvious they don't even play videogames, they seem to just hear things other games do in passing and go with that "I hear most games have lootboxes, we'll do that, I hear some games have premium ammunition lets do that! That'll fix things!" they shouldn't be licensed to drive, let alone have a management position.
