Fallout series

I just don't understand for what good reason would Microsoft try to buy Obsidian. Over the last couple of years they've only made CRPGs. Their best received titles are all games based on licensed properties (KOTOR2, New Vegas, South Park) and their current output of (from what I hear mostly mediocre) CRPGs barely sell. Obsidian is not gonna sell any Xboxes or Windows 10 licenses.

It's like when they bought Rare, a company known for doing their own thing and making dozens of family-friendly games on family-friendly platforms where those titles are guaranteed to sell well, only to shift their titles to the hardcore platform and micro-manage everything they do and make. It's so baffling.
The truth of the matter is that has never, and still does not, understood how to market and make games. They’re laughably bad at it. They constantly scoop up new studios and micro-manage them into hell. They turned one of the most prodigal studios of an era into a shovelware factory ffs.

There’s a reason XBox tried super duper hard to be an “entertainment center” over a console: Microsoft knows that they cannot capture the type of audience Nintendo and Sony has. People love Mario for Mario and Crash for Crash; people don’t love Halo for Master Chief, they love it for the shooting. Shooting that they can get in other games without getting an XBox. When Microsoft sees a popular free agent who’s a little down on their luck, all they see is a potential cash cow to manipulate into making their next big face, not a group to work with on making a profit.

A bit old but I don't think it was posted:
Look at the comments. People have gotten bent out of shape because Bethesda is interested in continuing to make single-player games but they think one online game means "REEEEEEE THEY LIED!"

I started playing Fallout 4 a few days ago on the Xbox One X. It looks halfway decent in 4K, I have to admit. I have been autistically digging up secrets and crafting better gear for my Samuel L Jackson lookalike motherfucker that I crafted.
Autistic is the right word.

Oxhorn has basically stopped doing lore vids on f76 and doesn't seem to team up much on his livestreams. Playing it seemingly like everyone else.

He was being super positive about it in one of the first videos talking about it after it released.

Kind people were just pointing out he doesn't want to rock the boat. Others were just calling him Shillhorn.

...

Anyway, on the topic of Rare/Microsoft, I'm pretty sure that was more to make sure that they didn't make any games for anyone else. Obsidian is trickier though, I dunno why they did that.

Ox strikes me as a non boat rocker tbh. He did get to go to West Virginia as he is popular on YouTube.

Considering how packed with lore f76 is regardless and his lack of vids after mama dolces though, speaks volumes.

Savor your first play through. Fallout 4 isn't as good on repeat play thoughs.

76 is basically dead. You can't save it with mods because without the CK that Bethesda releases nor the Script Extender, modders are powerless to do much.

And Bethesda isn't going to release a modding tool for an online only game.

This was a cash-grab release anyways. It's pretty copy paste so you aren't missing out on an actual hard worked release. It's pretty much a standalone fallout 4 mod.

It's the creation engine and Fallout 4. To the point people have already modded stuff in from fallout 4 mods.

Looks like Gggmanlives doesn't under
Overused meme is overused... but still true.

This is basically Gggmanlives's review of the game. TL;DW he says that the issues are all blown out of proportion, that since he hasn't encountered any game-breaking bugs the game is "not that bad" and that it's fun if you have friends to play with.
Turns out, this is his most disliked review ever. Talk about being way off mark and not understanding people's frustration with the game...

A 1$ deck of cards is fun if you play it friends.
I need more than that if you want me to pay 60$ for it.

Forbes of all places put it the best way

"Some will say that my experience is tainted because I’ve mostly been trying to play solo instead of with friends, and yet I don’t buy this constant modern gaming narrative about things being “better with friends.” Like sure, games are better with friends. Everything is better with friends. That’s how friends work. You can see a crappy movie or go to an awful restaurant with friends and it will likely be a better experience than it would be alone, and yet that doesn’t mean the thing in question isn’t still bad. And Fallout 76 is bad."
