Fallout series

I know that this complaint has been made a thousand times but I don't like how much the recent games have been emphasizing the 50s aesthetic. All the atompunk cars and robots felt more like products of a bygone era, it really made the brotherhood stand out. You encounter tons of raiders dressed in leather armor and jackets like they're from Mad Max and then you come accross the paladins that look like something you'd see from a 50s sci-fi movie or comic.

I think 3 had a good balance of both styles but in 4 the 50s stuff felt too gimmicky. It was always a gimmick but so was the insperation from 70s and 80s apoclypse movies.

How else will Bethesda make their epic "Remember the 50s???" jokes if they don't keep up the aesthetic?

Most likely dumb questions but if you go the Independent route, have a high enough karma and picked the choices the overall situation in the region do you think in time it could lay the seeds for a potential unification in the future in the Mojave?

You'd probably have a few groups return or stay similar to raiders, convicts, and what not. You'd have to take the rein Mr. House would leave behind and such whip the Mojave into submission like a mixed bag of the NCR and Legion. So it is possible but you'd face similar problems like all the factions all together.

One thing I love about Fallout 4 is modding it out the fucking ass and just building shit. I love to add autistic little touches to my settlements because why the fuck not? Here's some shit I've built.

Nuka Cola store, filled with all sorts of Nuka Cola merch.

Public water purifier just outside the gates to Sanctuary powered with a water wheel, dedicated to the Lone Wanderer from Fallout 3. I figure stories like the events of that game would spread around and the Sole Survivor would at some point hear it.

Arcade and Casino. Don't have pics of the arcade at the moment, but I'm real proud of the casino.

I agree, I try to assign official functions to my differing settlements to head canon a stable trading system, like County Crossings and Graygarden are farms, Hangman's Alley and Jamaica Plains are Scavenging operations, and Red Rocket Truck Stop and Kingsport Lighthouse are military outposts. Murkwater Construction site usually ends up a Concentration Camp for Ghouls and Synths because I don't trust Zombies and Institute Robots.

Yes, those are the arcade cabinets from the Creation Club, which I pirated every friggin' piece of because fuck paying for it. I might do a bit more decorating in the future, but for now this it enough. Still need to hook the machines to the power supply, tho.

I also turned one of the houses into a brothel.

Yes, that is a sexbot. Plan to introduce more prostitutes eventually. Because when I said I'd start my own settlement with blackjack and hookers I goddamn meant it!

I was gonna joking ask about a brothel or strip club, seems I don't have to now.

3 had a good balance, I wish they'd regain that. I get that they leaned into it because it's fun and it helps to make Fallout a bit more unique compared to Wasteland, but it is easy to overdo it.

Beautiful.

Fallout is by far my favorite series.
I'm just finishing up modding Tale of Two Wastelands, which combines FO3 and FO:NV into one cohesive game using a significantly improved version of NV's engine.
It was a little daunting to install since I was used to just clicking a button and letting Nexus' Vortex handle the rest but there's a very easy to follow guide here. Hoping the tedium was worth it. Should be great way to kill the rest of winter

If it isn't too much trouble, let me know how that turned out for you
I can't really play Fo3 on my PC in its absolute state because it crashes really frequently and randomly

It's working wonderfully, even on my low-end laptop. I'm fucking stoked. You've got to try it. Most mods won't work for it but there's been a decent number of them ported.

I suggest carefully following this guide. Did not have any issues. Also has a list of confirmed functional mods.

Main mod site

Project's official guide. Some info seems outdated.

If you do fallout 3 then go to NV after it, you'll be insanely OP. It might be worth it to get mods that change how damage to and from NPC's get scaled. Making a shitter with a pipe gun dangerous at any level.
That's why a mod exists for TTW called Benny Humbles You.
Mainly after going to NV from CW; your level is reseted. You can change those things with the ini.
The newest version (& steals your stuff) hides your pre-NV equipment and stashes in a specific localization.

I like how it has the proper gritty look. So many mods make everything pristine and new looking. So boring.

I'd love to learn how to mod like that. I want to turn this lighthouse property into a settlement.

Thank you for reminding me to install that.
Is it going to be worth kicking it up a difficulty as well?

Also, I am stunned by how much more fun FO3 is with just a handful of QOL and graphical fixes. I started with it and it had fallen to #4 in my list but it's moved up at least a spot.

All of the ugly green glow removed, the ability to sprint, item type icons for sorting, updated lockpick/hack mini games, and not having to manually each and every fucking container.

Are there any must haves that you would suggest? Also, did I misunderstand or is the amount of mods that will function with TTW really that limited?
