I don't know Microsoft does own Inxile who've made the Wasteland games that are similar in tone to Fallout. If given a fair shot I believe they might be able to made a decent Fallout game, it's too early to just assume that the next game is going to be terrible.Microsoft is retarded though so at best we will get Obsidian to make it and it will be Fallout The Show : The Game.
Fallout originally started as a sequel to Wasteland. Brian Fargo who created Wasteland even came up with the name 'Fallout' to differentiate them. Lots of people have worked on both franchises. Fargo was executive producer for Fallout 1 and 2 and is the CEO of the studio that made Wasteland 3. They've probably asked Bethesda and Microsoft a dozen times already to make a spinoff or a new turn based Fallout.I don't know Microsoft does own Inxile who've made the Wasteland games that are similar in tone to Fallout. Wasteland is far more comedic than fallout is. I think colony ship is far more closer to the tone of fallout.I don't know Microsoft does own Inxile who've made the Wasteland games that are similar in tone to Fallout. I want to replay it so bad, but I want everything they decided to put in and fix while they can before I do that.I think colony ship is far more closer to the tone of fallout.
How was that? Curious.I want to replay it so bad, but I want everything they decided to put in and fix while they can before I do that.
so fucking good but a shame it's iron tower's last game
I was going to megapost, but I found two of my previous posts about this game from different threads. How was that? Curious.
Colony Ship by the same guys who did Age of Decadence.
Premise of the game is that you're a descendant of Christian spacefarers who decided that Earth had become too corrupt, so they headed off to another planet. Trouble is humans are humans and a mutiny happened. Flashforward to the time of the game and things are looking pretty grim: the cyborg monks of the ship's main stockpile of crazy shit sacrificed their humanity to make sure everything doesn't go further to shit, the Covenant of reactor fixer mutants think they're hot shit for being dysgenic matriarchal mongrels, the Protectors want to accomplish the mission yet have become super authoritarian prosecutors of wrongthink, the Brotherhood remnants of the mutiny are effectively Soviet Russia Communists as a result of fucking things up for everyone, and the Church safeguards what's left of the faithful while pitting the other two against each other.
The rest of the ship are effectively wild-west like townships where the guy with the biggest gun is in charge. Cybernetic implants exist but they're used and worn down to shit (recent update lets you overclock/restore them to the original functionality at the cost of some HP), energy weapons are super rare and their ammo is scarce thanks to the mutiny, and pipeguns are all the rage in your starting area. Like the previous game, you can be a killing machine or a talker or both if you've got a super big brain and above minimum charisma. There are also companions, but I prefer to play as that one crazy motherfucker who can blast you apart with his shotgun or talk you into commiting suicide.
Latest update of Colony Ship with a full party. The new balancing that fucks with the early game is obviously meant for the late game now that I've gone through it. Having three companions trivializes combat. Two tanks (My Wolverine Healing Factor self and Tanky Ass Jed), Evans in the back with a bolt and assault rifle, and Faythe with a handcannon on the side ensures every encounter will be more or less one-sided. If you go all in on Faythe as a skill monkey, you can get the best weapons and armor set in the entire game as soon as you come back from the Habitat. The best SMG, the best Sniper Rifle, the best revolver, the best non-energy knife, the best pistol, and the best heavy/auto shotgun. You just need to get the max skill in lockpicking or computers to get to it.
Really, I can't stress how much having a full party changes the game. Faythe with all "discovery" skills tagged gets you a shit load of extra gear and combat utility items. A lot of cash too if you can get her stealth skills high enough. I had a stockpile of combat drugs I barely had to use, over ten thousand credits, stasis grenades, disrupter grenades, and basic utility grenades where a solo character would be weighing his options on what to use or spend his credits on.
Fallout 4 wanted to be heavily normie and new player friendly. They knew the average player probably hadn't touched a Fallout game beforehand. They had to sanitize it and streamline it. Forget returning players from 3 and New Vegas, we need the low IQ crowd of dopamine rush chasers Borderlands and Call of Duty attracts. Forget a good dialogue system, we need a voiced protagonist because the new players do not have inner monologue. Forget choices that matter, these people just want to shoot everything that moves. Forget memorable enemies and unique weapons and armor, we introduced a retarded legendary enemy system and weapons and armor that is only good for niche situations. Forget having a wasteland filled with cannibals, rapists, and other psychos, we need to make it silly and whacky. Forget having artistic and aesthetical consistency with our own game, we need to make it look like The Jetsons.I fucking wish. Fallout 3 was Mad Max, with all the grit, gore, violence, and bleakness you would expect. Nu-Fallout is more like... Mildly Disgruntled Dan. Tonally it is the furthest thing from a Post-Apocalypse, it's more like, well, Borderlands. A wacky desert landscape full of generic bandits to shoot, quips to spout, and megacorps to be bad guys. It's a zoomer friendly apocalypse setting now.
I noticed this too. Maybe the greatest Psy op of all time on Amazon or Microsoft's part. I saw "See!? This is how you really treat an IP Hollywood! Honor it!" Posts everywhere from people who played one game total in their whole lives.
The thing is that Bethesda doesn't have any reason for force these updates outside of malice. They aren't even good updates. Two armor sets and broken widescreen? Get fucked. If it was another Far Harbor it would be excusable
If I was Microsoft I'd flip Todd the bird, grab some core gamebryo devs, scoop up Avellone out of the unemployment line and make him lead designer, and start putting them to work on a pseudo New Vegas style stopgap game.
Microsoft is retarded though so at best we will get Obsidian to make it and it will be Fallout The Show : The Game.
A early prerelease version of F4SE has been posted for the Next Gen update, however F4SE is not fully updated for the next gen version, plus modders will need to update there own mods to be compatible with the Next-Gen version. This version is mainly for modders to mess with to see what else broke and then report issues to the dev of F4SE for fixing, not for gameplay. We aren't out of the woods yet but we are likely pretty close to full release either this week or next. The fact modders will still need to update their own mods that use F4SE will definitely delay the recovery of the modding scene, but hopefully the updates required won't take to long to implment.Keep up with F4SE Here for updates.
I want to replay it so bad, but I want everything they decided to put in and fix while they can before I do that.

"I assume that some people look at it this way: AoD sold enough to pay for the next game (Colony Ship), if CS doesn't sell enough to pay for the next game, it must have failed.
In reality AoD didn't sell all that well (which is why we didn't make AoD 2) and paid for 50% of Colony Ship's budget. Some of this shortfall was relatively 'easy' to fix - work longer hours and weekends for 7 years, how hard could it be? Others - not so much. In 2020 we had enough money only to pay the contractors and not the core team. We had to compromise at every step and constantly settle for less simply because we didn't have enough money and manpower. It wears you down more than anything else.
The tentative sequel will require a bigger team and a bigger budget. Nothing crazy but at least one extra designer to share the workload (more like to make it easier to breathe for the rest of us) and more contractors (art and 3D). Probably 25% more overall.
Colony Ship would probably generate 60% of that increased budget, meaning we expect it to sell 40-50% more than AoD. The problem is, it won't be enough and neither KS not Patreon will make up for the difference."
That's a shame. Colony Ship could have used a much bigger budget. It doesn't have to compete with big budget Baldur's Gate, but the lack was tangible.1) We can reuse most of the human-related assets: character models, animations, weapons and armor (obviously there would be new weapons and armor reflecting the rapidly evolving situation on the ground), tilesets, objects, etc. That's a big plus.
The real challenge in terms of art will come from the natives' culture. Literally everything, from architecture and furniture to livestock and industrial objects (not to mention the natives themselves, their clothing, weapons, and armor) would have to be defined (concept art) and 3D modelled. Neither is cheap.
I hope we all agree that the alien planet and culture should look and feel appropriately alien and not 'made for TV' humans pretending to be aliens.
2) We need to expand the team. We might be able to pull it off without a second programmer (we started Colony Ship with two programmers but lost one after two years to higher wages and greener pastures) or a second writer (would be nice), but we definitely need another level designer and/or someone to handle extra scripting, which is probably our biggest bottleneck.
Take two skilled people, multiply their salaries by 5 years. That alone is a lot more than what we can get on Kickstarter.
the games are super easy but i admit, the earlier parts can be a bit tricky for new players. the CHA stats is a joke. dump it (unless you want to roleplay a smooth talker) into one point and spent it elsewhere. the more INT you have, the more skill points you get when levelling up. dont bother having 10 in a stats, 9 is enough since you can find items called bubble heads that increase your stats and skills.Anybody got any tips about playing Fallout 3 for the first time? Like major bugs to avoid, shit perks that don't work etc...
I never got to play Fallout 3 or NV so I bought them recently during the steam sale and want to see what they were like. I enjoyed Fallout 4 but I know Bethesda often removes cool shit from their games in subsequent releases(I'm fucking looking at you Skyrim, were is my fucking spell crafting??)
Repair, small guns, sneak as your tag skills will probably serve you best. Speech and charisma aren't totally useless but not really worth heavily investing in if you don't mind blasting everything that doesn't cooperate with you.Anybody got any tips about playing Fallout 3 for the first time? Makes sense. Bethesda said Fallout 5 will enter development after Elder Scrolls 6 and they're still working on fucking Slopfield.https://insider-gaming.com/next-fallout-game-come-faster/
Xbox Wants The Next Fallout Game To Come Sooner, It’s Claimed
I think this means they'll outsource to other studios. I wonder who will get the job. Now, it has been claimed that Xbox is hyper-aware of the anticipation for the next Fallout game and is eager to explore opportunities to make that arrive sooner rather than later.
I guess it depends on if they make another RPG game or if they go a different route, god knows Microsoft doesn't have a shortage of studios under their umbrella. In a recent interview Todd hinted at there being 2 new Fallout Projects in the pipeline, excluding anything for Shelter, 76, or the TV show, It was leaked a while ago that there was a Fallout 3 remaster in the works that was supposed to use some wacky Unreal-Gamebyro fusion to play the game. So maybe Microsoft plans on releasing remastered versions of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas sometime this year or next.I think this means they'll outsource to other studios. I wonder who will get the job.
Everyone needs to buy the old Fallout games on Steam before Microtranny replaces them with the neutered remastered versions. So maybe Microsoft plans on releasing remastered versions of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas sometime this year or next.
Nowadays it's better to play Fallout 3 through A Tale of Two Wastelands, which ports 3 into New Vegas with it's features, and with the ability to use its mods. Here's a great guide I followed just the other day, followed up by this one by the same guy which goes more in depth in overhauling the game. Started a playthrough it recently and I've been having a blast, even considering the fact that 3 is my least favorite entry. (Besides Tactics and 76 which I haven't played)Anybody got any tips about playing Fallout 3 for the first time? Like major bugs to avoid, shit perks that don't work etc...
