McCarran will get overrun by the Fiends, literal chems addicts with pool cues, during the Second Battle of Hoover Dam if you don't kill their Motor-runner and anyone other than the NCR wins the battle. They are beyond incompetent

I started out of curiosity, but didn't finish because of how utterly boring it is. While I would still have disliked them, I'm really disappointed that they're presented as this comically evil faction with barely any upsides. Thankfully, it's not as retarded and childish as comically evil Bethesda antagonists are, but still, I would have enjoyed it more if all four major factions were rather morally gray to varying degrees.

Maybe I'm missing the point of this series but I've always liked it best when it's more 'remote'. Like the big factions and shit fighting can be interesting, but I find the plight of surviving a fucked up wasteland more inherently compelling.

Maybe that's why I love it when there are tribals.

I found a good video on Bethesda, going over why exactly they've been declining
The only thing that was on my mind this entire time was "How does Fallout New Vegas still blow out everything Bethesda made past Morrowind to this extent?"
Fallout New Vegas being a superior title is a tired cliche at this point, but I don't think people ask exactly WHY that is. Reversing what Starfield and Fallout 76 did wrong and comparing what New Vegas did right in that same scenario is a good start. You never appreciate the finer details of that game, what came about so naturally, till it's all gone.
I will never get over just how bad Starfield is. Every time I get finished watching one of those videos, I think I've seen it all with this game, then I watch another one and get blown away once again with how sterile, boring and bland everything is. Fallout 76 looks like a good game when you compare the two, and that's a scary thought. Fallout 5 is going to be a disaster, especially if the rumors of it incorporating TV show "lore" are true.

Yeah, but Dead Horse Point is also the exact sort of place a bunch of German tourists would visit on account of the quaint name, just like they do with Death Valley.

Spoiler alert: The place got its name because horses who were corralled there tended to drop dead from heat exposure.

Fantastic video. While the ethos of Fallout 1 is hardly the only thing that separates the older titles and new ones, it does illustrate perfectly how the series changed even on the surface. It's crazy to think that Fallout 3, while doing it's own thing, at least tried to replicate that horror theme of the original games and what they stood for. We can argue if they succeeded or not, but at least they tried, Fallout 4 on the other hand is a cartoon and it only got worse from there. I don't even know how to describe the TV show, the newest piece of Fallout media, other than "Bethesda's flanderized Fallout for the modern audiences", being the last thing that comes out of this human centipede of a franchise.

I really hope we will see a 3d modern remake of Fallout 1 and 2, remade exactly from the original with the same tone, choice, atmosphere, characters, dialogue etc. (Maybe there could be some expansion but I wouldn't trust modern devs not to fuck it up). It sucks the devs decided to go for Isometric turn based but on the other hand it's possible it would have been a lot more shallow being made in a more gameplay orientated 3d engine.

Modern Fallout 1 remake is cursed, it has been cancelled at least twice now. Fallout 2 remake has been chugging along for over a decade now, and moved on from Fallout New Vegas engine into Fallout 4 one. Either way, I just hope it's done by fans and not by Bethesda or any of their third world contractors. Recent Dead Rising remake shows exactly what to expect out "remasters for the modern audience" and that's not even the worst example in recent history.
