I'm gonna be honest. I stopped giving a fuck about the lore a long time ago. It was already obvious Bethesda never gave two shits about the lore in their games just from the old Elder Scrolls games. So Bethesda has been teasing a "fallout day" for the 23rd and fanboys were hyped about a big announcement. And you know what they got? More Fallout 76 content. That's it.
Billion dollar IP, successful TV show and all they can do is another live service update for an MMO hardly anyone plays.
Like for instance in Arena and Daggerfall it's said that Cyrodiil was actually a jungle biome. Clearly that wasn't the case in Oblivion.
In Skyrim they basically removed all of the traditions that made the nords sound interesting in previous games.
Imperials as a race actually didn't even exist in older games, I could go on.
The point is Bethesda has never given two shits about lore.
All that to say one of the benefits of being a ghoul in 76 is going to be you have no hunger or thirst and when I heard that it reminded me of that completely retarded retcon.
The dumbest part is they basically retconned how ghouls function as a species just to justify how Billy or whatever the fuck his name was, the ghoul kid was able to survive trapped in that fridge for like two hundred years in Fallout 4.
And it's stuff like this that I can't help but bitch about because it's such a blatant contradiction it can't be ignored. The information that ghouls need to eat and drink to survive just like anyone else isn't even obscure information IT'S A DELIBERATE MORAL CHOICE IN FALLOUT 1! You're given the choice to either steal Necropolis' water chip for yourself to save Vault 13 and leave all the ghouls there to die of thirst or you repair their water pump first before taking the chip so that they still have water to drink.
If the ghouls didn't need to drink water they wouldn't have cared they would've just been like "Yeah sure buddy take the chip, we don't need that shit."
It's basically the biggest confirmation that Bethesda well and truly just does not care about lore.
