Fallout series

Thank you Frontier dev team for making me uninstall your raging dumpster fire of a mod midway through my playthrough and reinstalling New Vegas Bounties and the rest of someguy2000's mods for a fresh new playthrough.
But, wait, there's more!
What happened, and in which chapter? I skipped the clean install and "do a new save" parts of setting it up, too.
What was it that made you uninstall? Was it a slow burn, or did something hit you hard and ruin it?
Let me show you how pozzed this mod is...

I love playing the Enclave in FO games after 2.

First mod I'll always look for is an Enclave beret. Walk around the wasteland wearing that while pulling missions for the BoS. It's funny. Bonus points if you wait till almost the end and betray the Enclave and blow everything up and run off into the wasteland with your high tech loot.

But holy shit, nice of the fucking devs to make my choices for me.

EDIT: I gotta ask, did they include ANY of Portland and the PNW's sites in, or just what they could see on Google Maps right now? Did they do any estimations on how things would have been, changed the Dalles just enough to feel Fallouty, or did they just fuck around and say "Oh, it's in Portland, but I'll ignore the hills, the Columbia River, Longview, the Dalles, the medical centers, the old armory."

Pretty weaksauce compilation, tbh.

The river forms the main dividing line between NCR and Legion territory, the terrain gets rocky fast outside of the main city, though the interior is pretty flat, and if the armory is a fort-turned-museum, then it's been turned into Legion HQ.

EDIT: In other news, submods for Frontier are starting to roll out, with the showstopper being the Frontier Re-Cut project, with three entries thus far.

Okay, so you need a badguy faction that stays the badguy no matter which faction you join. Fine. If you didn't want people to bug you about joining the Enclave then just don't include that dialogue in the first place.

I have a sneaking suspicion the writers are the kind of people that can't not get a word in about "topical" politics.

Say what you want about Fallout 4 and 76, but I can at least appreciate that Bethesda went full-bore into the Raygun Gothic art direction. It fits, and they know their audience, given the subject material.
It's unfortunate, and I can understand why they didn't, but going hard into the Kirby/Arcadian/Ayn-Fuckin'-Randian thing with the 1930s esque architecture would be a little boring and samey after a while. At least this way, they have a consistent style they stick to.

What I'm getting at, is that The Frontier devs don't know how to design things. Even Fallout 3 had elements of Raygun to it, so they honestly have no excuse for having Portland feel so goddamn bland. I don't know if it's all of the snow, or the subject material itself, but I found myself speeding through the environment, barely registering things in my surroundings. But given how The Pitt managed to retain that feeling, that just mean's they're lazy.

Wasn't just the environment, either. They used stock tanks which really look out of place in the Fallout world. Which is kinda sad because the tanks introduced in Fallout 4 were perfect for the reto-futuristic raygunpunk aesthetic.

How hard would it be to recreate this and slap it in? More work than buying a shitty unity store Sherman tank but at least it wouldn't have looked so out of fucking place.

Was that forced Metal Gear reference supposed to be funny?
Other than making it sexual it could be funny. Why do they have to make everything a sex thing when they hate games that they perceive have sexual content?

Black Isle structures their games for a specific pathway. If you set up a character a certain way it can make certain quests a challenge. The best example I can think of is if you start Fallout 2 as a guns character. It makes the tutorial a bit of a slog because you don't get a gun until the first town, and its a shit gun. Now this style allows for alternative pathways to quests, getting out a situation through speech, stealth, or combat. At the same time, these pathways aren't shown as options, especially if it involves using the Science, Repair, or Lockpick skill as you don't know what things that the skill can be used from. So when I first played Fallout 1 and 2, I tended to focus on combat and neglected the other aspects of the games.
In Fallout 2 it was all about getting your small arms up to 96 or more, then you could shoot everyone in the eye from across the screen making the game easy peasy. It wasn't hard to do and only took a couple of levels, after that you could dump points into other skills. At a later point you will dump it into energy weapons so you can shoot plasma into peoples eyes from across the screen. It's not a power-leveling strategy taken from the internet either, I carried that knowledge over from Fallout 1.

Frontier is really giving me some “Hunt Down the Freeman” flashbacks.
If they locked about 90% of the stupid shit behind Wild Wasteland, it would have been fine. Fairly linear and stretching the definition of "lore-friendly", but a remarkable technical achievement with a side of really fucking weird if you wanted it. But they didn't do that, and here we are. Hopefully this crazy motherfucker can correct that.

I’m seeing a trend with these overblown narcissistic mods and a link to Kojima fans...... I’m sure it isn’t connected.

A bunch of shit is being hidden behind wild wasteland including the pop culture quotes, lizards, and America stuff according to the Frontier discord in the next patch. Good on them honestly. It's nice to see devs actually listening and not just dismissing their critics as Nazis.

I mean, I'm a Kojima fan, but I think I see what the problem is. Kojima shit is not easy to pull off, even the man himself fucks it up occasionally. You don't just drown the thing in references and vapid philosophy, it's a delicate balancing act of absolute absurdity juxtaposed against an ostensibly real-world setting, then sold with actual fucking charisma. The Frontier does not accomplish this.

Good to hear, maybe we will actually get a good mod out of this in the end.

Apparently this is one of the devs of Frontier. Imagine being such a dimwitted faggot that you don't think Caesar is at least an interesting villain. He really was. Sure I think he was a megalomaniac who was up his own ass and not nearly as smart as he thought he was, but he was at least compelling.
So yeah, this is the sort of person who worked on the mod. Any wonder it turned out the way it did writing-wise?
The antagonist of New Vegas seems to be an evil fascist dictator who enslaves people but when you actually meet him gives a deep political analysis on Democracy and why a system that requires multiple votes that will have to pass a bloated, corrupt bureaucracy with a potentially uninformed populace in the turbulent world of post nuclear war may not be the best form of government to bring the needed change that can stop humanity from becoming isolationist tribes that scavenge and raid the remaining world.
Fuck outta here dude.

In the world of the website that shall not be named, apparently they were having compatibility issues between their program and xNVSE, which Frontier requires. However, the most recent release of xNVSE seems to have (likely inadvertently) fixed this, so be prepared for the animated snek sex mods.
