Fanon Wikis

Ok, KM said this (sorry for triple posting by the way, if you couldn't already tell I'm new :P)

"Thanks for making my life worse. Now the thread has suddenly become about me.

Go on the thread and tell them it was a misunderstanding. I'm not even salty about their remarks, I quit because I agree with them. In order words, I'm ashamed of what I do and I have no real pride, nor do I have an interest to try and better myself. I was gonna leave this year anyways. Copy that word for word if you want.

And go tell Web to fck off. He's been banned for a year now and he still won't move on, that only shows how pathetic he is."

CRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN

Seriously, though, tell your friend he's being a little bitch. This thread was not about him. It was not even about the Nickelodeon Fanon Wiki (anymore). We've turned our attention to him because he decided to throw a fit over us making fun of crappy articles about non-existant TV shows written in 2012. Protip: If something irks you, blowing up about it is just gonna bring more attention to it and make it harder for it to go away. He seriously needs to grow a thicker skin or life is gonna eat him alive.

Dude I write fanfics about a semi-obscure video game and I still take pride in what I do. This very forum hosts fancomics of Sonichu - fucking Sonichu - but they're fantastic! Why? Because we take pride in our art. It doesn't fucking matter if the subject matter is autistic, it can still be good. At the very least it can be a learning experience for the artist, an oppertunity to experiment and recieve critique, the lifeblood of any artist who gives a damn. We're not impressed by KM throwing his own work under the bus.

I've read some beautifully written fanfic, man. I've seen art of things that are fucking weird that are still executed with skill and care.

KM, you lack conviction. Your writing may suck, but there's no reason you can't improve.

You could write the best damn Spongebob crossover fan episode on the whole internet.

okay,

Have you read his stuff on the wiki? It's the best works I've seen there and I recommend you check them out. It's living proof that he at least writes decently. I agree with you that he has to stop acting butthurt and man up but I think KM is right as well that you guys bashing on his writing isn't really encouraging. I know the point of this place is to bash at people and make fun of them, but are you serious?

He wants me to clarify that he didn't blow up or anything, but judging from our conversation he's still pretty irritated.

I'll take a crack at it if you can provide a link.

My writing was bashed on a lot in high school, almost entirely by people who had never read it. They just saw me writing during lunch instead of hanging out with friends and thought I was weird so they mocked me for it. I'd be lying if I said it never bothered me, but ya know what? Fuck 'em. I still like writing.

As long as it's not in script format, I'll give it a shot.

Exactly. No one is bashing on his writing. I didn't even look who the authors of the stories in the OP are, I just found some funny ones and posted them. Then someone pointed out that there are more fanon wikis than just the Nick one, and now we're generally posting about silly stuff we find on fanon wikis. I didn't make this thread intending to bash KM's writing - I didn't even know who KM was when I posted the thread. The thread is titled Nickelodeon Fanon Wiki solely because it was the first fanon wiki I found. I felt bad about it before, but come on. Your friend is legitimately quitting writing all together because a few nerds on a forum said the wiki he hosts it on is silly. Who even cares what we think?

Everything
has people who bash it. There are people who make fun of the writing in Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and pretty much every other critically acclaimed and hugely successful work. You can't just put something out there and expect everyone to simultaneously act nice and safe about it. Your friend has an established fanbase who enjoy reading his stuff, and if he's supposedly passionate about writing, that should be more than enough to keep him doing it. If I were a writer, and I were genuinely passionate about it, I'd keep writing even if I had ten fans and ten thousand haters.

You mean this?

I, uh, don't mean to sound rude, but it sounds like your generic superhero group show.

Also, this is just a minor peeve of mine, but I personally don't like it when authors insert their names, real life or online persona, into a story of theirs or a friend of their's. It makes it hard to not associate it with a self-insert and there's just too many Mary Sue-ish implications for me to not dwell on when looking at the story. Sorry.

... In general, I kinda get the idea of where you're coming from, but it's really hard to get too invested in a story when you're essentially reading what are essentially episode synopses. Admittedly, there seem to have been at least a fair bit of effort put into stuff like the screengrabs, the title cards, all of the miscellaneous show details that most people don't care about (hell, you guys put in a lot more work than some lolcow "artists" here, like Dobson, and you aren't even being paid for it), but in the end the layout just kinda... doesn't work for me. Sorry, but I've never really been able to invest myself in any kind of fiction that wasn't put into flat prose format. The restrictions of other formats really does show.

@CuriousBystander & @Meowthkip, the link for the show The ACS is in the post above. And yeah, "plot format" is episode summaries ala Wikipedia, which kinda kills it for me.

Chrome weren't you blocked for like 3 years for starting fights, and then starting your own thing to try and destroy the website that nobody went along with? I'm in no place to judge considering I've done my share of spergy Wikia shit, but I'm surprised KM is asking you of all people to send a message like that.

Do people actually write FULL stories like that??? I've never heard that before.

They do. I remember reading on on a site I used that got weirdly popular and it was the laziest shit ever. I pointed it out and the author just stopped updating.

A plot format is pretty much a detailed description of what goes on the episode categorized by the "Plot" header at the start of it.

And also The ACS might be Mary Sue-ish and stuff but it really does have some interesting points in it. I mean compared to the other crap we got in store it's at Number #1.

I'm sorry, but that's lazy as fuck. You cannot be a good writer if all you do is write plot synopses and expect people to imagine how great your fake show is. Shit, the people that make MS Paint fanime actually have scripts and voice acting and stuff. You guys don't even have that.
