How long y'all think Chris will be in the cuckoo saloon?
Srsly
Probably about 6 months. Unless the pale pasty youtube lolcow is somehow correct and it was an attempt at self harm. Which might only be a few weeks. But more likely Chris has been going full bore fantasyland and Heilberg can't get any meaningful cooperation out of him.
The whole point of these de-tarding institutional stays (if this really even is one of those) is to render the person competent to stand trial. They can still be blithering lunatics, they just have to have some minimal understanding of what the proceedings are and be able to participate meaningfully in their defense. This is a really low bar to clear.
It also gets some kind of treatment for Chris while he awaits a trial that is seeming to be increasingly unlikely to happen. This could have been a move by Heilberg to get him into a somewhat better environment and then hammer out some deal where he gets out at the end of the year, possibly without being an RSO and with some kind of tard housing available to him.
I don't rule out that it's a move by Heilberg to get Chris to a state where he stops eating the legal pads and smearing feces on the walls to form a dimensional portal.
Sounds like they might be trying to coach Chris how to behave on the stand just enough to get the trial going. Teach him the right answers to say to the judge so they can get him into the courtroom, have him agree to a plea bargain, and get him out of the system. Does something like that happen at these places just to get a trial done and over with?
Honestly? I think everyone that has touched Chris in this realizes that he is one of those extra special cases of a fucked up retard doing fucked up shit for which there really is no legal remedy. It's not even that he is Mentally Ill in the more standard and treatable ways such as Schizophrenic. he's on that razors edge of the tard spectrum where he isn't completely incoherent or confined to a Jerry Chair shrieking and drooling, but he has no normal social skills or boundaries. He's a quasi functional retard that has been raised almost exclusively by the internet. Neither the Criminal Justice System nor the Health Care system is particularly good at dealing with this sort of individual. He's like the worlds most pathetic Batman Villain. They are trying to figure out what to do with him.
Are there any americans who work or who have been at psychiatric hospitals who know what the daily routine is like there for Chris? My associate has some experiencences but they're likely to differ. Might help deter people expecting "one flew over cuckoo's nest" movie stuff to happen.
Edit for example: they were allowed to wear normal clothing but the laces of your shoes were removed (stop people making nooses out of them), mobile phone was conviscated but there was a public phone they could use. Patients interacted and food was okay hospital food. Probably better than prison food
Might be different in usa tho
It's basically correct. It will vary wildly by both the facility and by patient needs. For most, once they are settled in some form of street clothes are allowed, so long as they are not in some way causing a problem. This will depend on them having normal street clothes available. if they don't have that they normally wear scrubs or donated stuff. How they eat depends on what sort of ward they are in. How cooperative they are, and what risk they pose to others. But as much as is reasonably possible they do want to get the patient into some small amount of social environment. Plus feeding them in a common area is easier to deal with. State facilities will have lower quality food, and dingy depressing facilities. But it is still mostly better than prison. The food generally has to meet certain nutritional standards. It's hospital food. What will suck for him is it's hospital food under a Physician and nutritionists care. They may mandate a healthier diet plan for him. If he complains they can medicate him until he stops complaining.
It's seriously erratic. American psychiatric hospitals range from horrifying snake pits (state-run are often like this) to the kind of shit you get with a Cadillac health plan, which can be almost like a luxury resort (albeit one where you are not allowed to have shoelaces).
Chris is a broke retard without any family speaking up for him, and likely without particularly good health insurance. At least not with the sort of extras you would need for a Hollywood Hotel. He is unquestionably in a State facility or a State Contract Facility (which is generally worse). I would bet its an actual State Facility given the whole inappropriate fucking of the elderly issue.
The biggest problem with psyche facilities is after a few weeks on the job it starts getting extremely hard to tell the inmates from the staff. or rather the staff from the inmates. Psyche hospitals are often the employment option of last resort for the caregivers. It's a state job with low pay but a good benefits package. But they are not hiring or retaining life's beautiful people. And at some point the treating Physician is going to simply declare "we've done all we can. there is no reason for him to be here". At which point Chris's new life as a Bridge Troll begins.
For those fixating on somebody finding a magical halfway house for sexually deviant retards to take him in, just abandon all hope. Chris may manage to get a placement initially. It will last, maybe a week. Chris does not work and play well with others. These places are not lockdown units. You either obey all of the rules and behave in a socially acceptable way, or you are back in jail or living under a bridge. or in a permanent repeating cycle of jail and bridge.
Unfortunately Chris might still get access to cartoons if there's a TV in the common area.
It's been a few years since I've actually had to go into a State Facility like these, but in my experience they tend to leave the TV's tuned to game shows. I can't see how it doesn't increase mental illness, but at least it mostly sedates them into a stupor.
