I would like to further elaborate on this because I just thought of something I should have added.
in the scenario I mentioned where the cat jumps on the couch and you spray it with a water bottle in order to teach it not to get on the couch the cat will learn eventually to stay off the couch. So then the cat will move to the chair because it has no concept of what it is doing wrong it only knows that if it goes on the couch it will get sprayed. So you spray it when it goes on the chair so it moves to a different chair. The cat has a literal mode of thinking. It understands certain actions equal certain consequences but it fully does not understand why. It is my belief that Chris much like the cat will reoffend. Basically Chris has learned that raping his MOTHER will make him receive consequences for his actions. However that does not translate to anyone else.
Much like the assault he did on a GameStop employee he did not learn that he should not assault people. He simply learned if I carry pepper spray then there's a chance I can face consequences to my actions. So he moved on to a different weapon fully not understanding the context of why he was wrong in the first place. Same thing with his mother. He understands doing that to her would give him consequences although he doesn't understand why it is wrong so he will move on to somebody else if he has the opportunity until he gets caught again and faces consequences.

Simply put Chris knows his mother is off limits but if he is ever alone with somebody else he will possibly reoffend

Honestly regardless of whether he has some warped sense of understanding of morality in his actions, it’s eventually all for nothing since he doesn’t or wilfully doesn’t care how his actions thoughts experiences have any effect on the people he lives around. A lot of why Chris’s behaviour is so fucked up and seems so repeatedly viciously and unkind isn’t because of latent psychopathy or because he’s inherently ‘evil’ (although many understandably would disagree) but because he’s just really, really selfish and a massive antisocial douchebag who was never taught manners or how to act properly around anyone else.

I think one aspect of the root of why so much of Chris’s continued stupid and antisocial actions are the way they are which isn’t discussed enough, is his huge lack of education that he’s been deprived of throughout most of his young and early adult life. Barb and Bob clearly probably never did most of the typical life lessons or talks your meant to give to your child growing up. Like about basic things like how friendships and Gf’s work. Proper manners and etiquette, Not to be a fucking creep in public who harass women with stupid love signs. The basic importance of personal hygiene, don’t give people who annoy you give the satisfaction of a reaction, and definitely not treat others how you’d like to be treated.

Both his parents very much had a ‘hands off’ approach to parenting, letting nature take its course and leaving Chris to his own devices to spiral further into a world of trolls, delusions, antisocial behaviour, perverted fantasies and escaping reality. Chris is still mostly responsible, but people really need to stop underestimating how little Chris actually knows about basic human interaction.

In a way, I suppose. The story of Chris-Chan may have one more act depending on how things go, but the cobalt blue and yellow curtains have definitely dropped on the Silver Age of Chris Chan. And now here we all are in our seats, watching and waiting to see if the curtain will rise again. Maybe we'll get another act. Maybe we just get an epilogue. Who knows? There's a long intermission before we find out though so grab some popcorn, nab a drink, use the restroom. Stretch your legs for a few months. He's currently there, so far as we know, under the orders of a court of limited jurisdiction that can only lock him up for a year. If they wanted to keep him, I think they'd still have to file an actual felony on him. After a year, he'd have spent as much time locked up as the one year max the court can hold him before losing its jurisdiction.

PS probably knows whether there's a distinction between evaluation/treatment and incarceration for the purposes of the court's jurisdiction. If there isn't, then they'd either have to charge him or actually commit him as a danger to himself or others. I'm not sure what procedure they'd have to go through if he is still in the hospital by the time they have to decide.

In the private sector it’s usually a codependent agreement with hospitals and families that certain individuals need to be held in care for a extended period of time, but not like it was in the early 20th century (take Zelda Fitzgerald as an example). Mental hospitals need beds, so they will actively try to rehabilitate as they Can and work with families to determine a favorable outcome.

In the justice system however, it’s a totally different beast. While Chris will likely not get a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity verdict because it’s not even worth giving it in this crime, it’s noteworthy that only 5% of those pleas end up working in America. That five percent ends up in a situation worse than prison: whereas many charges have a timed sentence for prison, mental facilities are indefinite until the offender can adequately prove competence and rehabilitation because they don’t want the responsibility of someone committing a dangerous offense right after getting out of treatment. Mental facilities have to view criminal patients as high risk; if you get sent to a psychiatric facility for reasons involving a crime, the hospital board and the state views all of your progress with scrutiny. Simply put, in terms of knowing when you can get out you are better off going to prison than a mental facility. There are a good few noteworthy instances where someone who got a NGBROI verdict would have been out sooner had they gotten prison simply because the hospitals can keep you forever if they have even a shred of concern that you’ll be a danger when you get out.

In one way or another Chris will survive this situation. There are plenty of enablers and white knights that will give him money simply because they like his shenanigans or think he’s a victim in everything. Even if that doesn’t work out, there are state resources that will help Chris live at a baseline, but that requires him to saddle up and try to live like a normal person, i.e. getting a job to have provable income.

The main reason you'd cop a NGRI with its low rate of success is you're otherwise facing the death penalty, or on the other hand, you have a crime that NGRI gets you out of completely with little likelihood of permanent commitment. Death-qualified juries are generally reluctant to find, for instance, that someone murdered a bunch of people and give them NGRI for any reason, especially if they believe it is possible the person could ever subsequently be released.

Contrary to slasher flicks, though, this really doesn't happen very often. John Hinckley would be the most egregious recent example I can think of, and even he hasn't committed any new crimes that we know of.

I’ve been lurking but never posted, how is it weening? No one got hurt, chris couldn’t rly get in trouble. I got a half hearted chuckle out of seeing it. It wasn’t very funny or creative but I don’t think it rly deserves the hate it got. I could be wrong…. From what I’ve read weening doesn’t seem very well defined and jumping on first time posters without describing how they are weening won’t encourage people to learn and stick around.
