So, got suckered into playing this by someone I was in a relationship with at the time. This was a mixture of a) wanting to spend time together and b) getting tired of HamJax's constant bullshit with Runescape 3 and not wanting to deal with the botted shithole of OSRS. Well, about halfway through getting my toon through Shadowbringers, the most recent expac at the time, he decides to change his main to another server. Whatever. After not too long, he somehow got it in his bright fucking mind to send me a picture of him ERPing with someone in FF14, complete with modded characters. Yay. Didn't think it was cheating because "something something it's just fantasy". Yeah, needless to say, the relationship ended there.

Okay, done reading that? Never read it? Good, let me get to my main problem with FF14: everyone is a thinskinned little bitch. I have never, in my fucking life, seen so many coddled fucking babies. You tell the healer to fucking heal, they lose their shit. You tell the tank to use their midigation skills, they lose their shit. You tell DPS to learn their three button combos, they lose their shit. This isn't me just malding over my own skill issue. I managed to literally carry a group as Red Mage though Castrum Fluminis (trail) and stopping a team wipe. I managed to keep my tank alive playing healer in Mt. Gulg as he pulled wall-to-wall mobs. Meanwhile, I get people in my LFG Dailies that do shit like wear cosmetic outfits instead of their armor. It wasn't glamored. It was straight up the fucking unstated cosmetics that they were wearing in place of actual healer armor. Yeah, the second I died in one of the base game dungeons, I had a hunch. If it's not that, it's finally finding a raid group (because 99% of the postings are paid carries or ERPs) and hearing the leader silently pitch a fit as I make the slightest of suggestions as the secondary tank player, after about six attempts, keeps have trouble with trading aggro. Eventually, we "take a break" and the leader kicks me without a word because you can't expect much else from a group of people that consider it a bannable offence to do the fucking job you voluntarily signed up to do. So, yeah, I despise the FF14 community. Every aspect of it.

I've had this shit so many times it's become second nature to look at the party list the moment I queue into content. If someone's HP is in the shitter, I check if they're a dipshit who didn't repair their gear, or if they're a retard who is using cosmetic gear. Thus far I've not gotten into trouble with a GM for calling out people like this, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

Game journalists are gaslighting people by telling Yoshi P one thing happened when it was actually the opposite. Everybody was critical of the voice actor's lack of emotion and poor voice acting for a part that required a lot of it, just compare side by side to the Japanese for the original intention. Sena Bryer made claims they were being attacked for being trans but provided no evidence beyond some message being critical of their voice acting which is not a attack on them being trans. There are a significant number of troons in the game but I don't really interact with them much because I actually play the game instead of idling around in Limsa (the game's general social hub) doing nothing. That said, there are a lot of queer people in the game in general.

Basically, if anyone has 'lesbian' in their little portrait thingy, it's virtually guaranteed to be a troon.

There are a lot of women who do go down the mod rabbit hole, but I find that they tend to go with tastefully slutty instead of comically slutty. Or if they are going the modbeast route it's because they find it hilarious and it is a temp thing. Or they're all about the bishie (I think that's what the term is? I don't know, I'm not a weeb) male Vieras.

There is a healthy mix of people who play the game, the problem is that the folks who are more active in social media or play the game a ton are those who don't really have a life outside the game and/or are desperately trying to escape it, so we have a lot of pornsick troons being a very visible target.

I think 20% of the game's English speaking population is troon, which is pretty big when you consider just how much of a fucking minority troons are in general.

I looked at their profile, it was also a fem Miqo‘te (most likely a tranny). If I had Mare and shared my code with them, I wonder if I would have been jumpscared by a Crystal Tower-sized modbeast with a horse dick. Terrifying.
