Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

To echo (heh) point number 8, this really is one of the best things about the game even though it isn't immediately obvious why. But because each new tier of gear releases also comes with a baseline set that can be crafted/purchased, this means you can be immediately ready to launch into endgame activities on any job that reaches the level cap even as a brand new player. You don't have to fuck around with tomestones for weeks just to get a usable set of gear, you can buy a set and then jump right into savage raiding if you felt so inclined.
This has the added benefit of making crafters not only feel useful but vital for endgame progression. Yes you could in theory self craft your gear, but you could also find someone who is next level autistic and make full sets for you. Crafting isn't always as simple as run out, grab mats, and hit craft all. You need your own set of gear just for crafting to meet minimum stat requirements. It's cheaper to pay someone else to make raid gear than it is to gear out both your crafter and main in new sets on your own. One thing FFXIV does right is it's gear progression which has been pretty unchanged for a while. Gear is very determinate and not a constantly weekly gamble like WoW to get BiS.

Decided to log in and do the last bits of MSQ. I hate how much nostalgia the Shadowbringers zone music can elicit from me when I haven't played for a while. In terms of the plot, I haven't really liked the post-EW MSQ that much but the conclusion was alright. Wuk Lamat was not was as insufferable as I'd feared given the troony shit going on with the VA.

There's also a stupid amount of sprouts on right now due to the Xbox Beta so NN is actually tolerable instead of being a BK circlejerk.

I'm just fucking off and avoiding Zeromus for a bit. Might finish RPR, SGE, and PLD since they're in the 80's. There's also Miner at 88 and Botanist at 83, but that's Relic Tool territory

Ehh. There's a few content creators who are good, but the vast majority of them are just running through the exact same shit and say/do nothing meaningful.
Xenosys Vex is one of the better ones.

Fun fact: I've partied with the raider he recently had drama with. I can confirm that the guy he's talking about is, indeed, a bitch. He's known in the EU raiding community for raging at kill groups and calling his teammates retards for fucking something up. I had some rage after I fucked up in P6 of DSR, so take into mind, he's raging at people progging in the hardest content in the game, for reference, here's a picture of WB2 which I fucked up once in DSR and the extremely tight positioning I got raged at for:

The TL;DW for anyone who doesn't know: Xeno got #1 parse in The Omega Protocol on Warrior. The raiding lolcow went into full copium since he was previously #1 and began bitching about it, acting like the only reason Xeno beat him is lucky crits or sandbagging. Xeno milked him for content and since the guy had made a lotta enemies, suddenly everything came out.

The guy was an asshole but was mostly protected due to being a respected figure of the EU raiding scene. Loads of people knew of him and everyone just went "eh that's him alright". It really took someone bigger than him with as much or more skill like Xeno to put him in his place.

Being the mount fag that I am, I resubbed just to get the car mount and haven't touched it since
Getting the expansion mounts used to be my go to time spender but that stupid dragon chair killed all motivation I had
The downtrail one better make up for it

Xeno at least tries to be self-aware. He responds to drama the correct way - transparently milking it for as long as possible to get twitch viewers. What's funny is he tells his viewers that he's only milking drama for view and they still show up just to watch it.

The Axolotl mount is a funny one cause tbh, it's kinda disappointing for the last mount of a savage raid series. But it gave us this:

Sorry scrubs. The savage raiders get the axolotl mount. Might I suggest to "git gud"?

I don't even see the point in complaining. In a few months, all the EW savage mounts are going to be piss easy to PF unsynced.

Not for these people it won't be. These are the types that exist to mash their face on the keyboard until they're carried through MSQ content. These are the people that complained duties are too hard. FF14 is the first video game my wife has ever actually played and got invested in since she was a child and even she refuses to do duties on easier difficulties. I've literally watched her practice her level 90 rotation on a dummy while queued because she didn't want to embarrass herself in a new trial or dungeon by playing like a drooling retard. Wrap your head around it. They can't compete at the level of a grown woman that almost never played video games for decades.

In fairness though, I did warn her that this is what the average player is like.

Ya, Xenos was one of the content creators I was thinking of. Doesn't take shit too seriously. The horde of retards like Zepla, Pyromancer (if he's even still playing XIV), MrHappy, etc. are just milquetoast dummies who had been doing it longer than everyone else. Then there's the horde of zombie clones who all post the same content over and over. Was probably the worst during the WoW exodus.

That whole thing with the #1 parse was hilarious and is a perfect summary of why parse troons are the worst.

Moron had something like 400+ kills in TOP to get the "#1" spot. All of his whines about 'lucky crits' or sandbagging were quickly dismissed by Xenos (and the parse troon had to eat crow and apologize), and then the focus shifted to the troon saying gamer words and being an arse because he accused Xenos of being a groomer and other dumb shit. You can find the videos on Xenos' channel if you want, but it's like 3 hours of content.

The funniest thing is that Xenos doesn't really give a shit about being #1 because he knows it's not going to last and it doesn't really mean anything. He just got mad cos the dude was throwing out accusations of him being a groomer, etc.

If phase 1 doesn't mess up a group and you can somehow still soak towers with vulnerabilities if you have enough mit (or you can sac), then phase 2 has a mechanic that I reckon will make cheesing it nearly impossible. Ironically, it's actually one of the easier mechanics according to most raiders (honestly, Pangenesis is the hardest bit in that fight).

Classical Concepts. And for anyone who wants to play along at home, here's the board and here's the rules:

1710198834657.png

  • Every square and triangle must be tethered to a "d20" either direct to the left/right/above/below it (no diagonals allowed)
  • Every "d20" must have only two tethers going out from it, one to a triangle, one to a square
The mechanic essentially comes down to solving this puzzle on the fly so you can intercept the tethers. Failing to intercept a tether does infinite damage to all players (by infinite I mean damage-cap). I've not tested if it pierces invulnerability, but with "puzzle" mechanics like these, it usually does.

This mechanic is also only 2 minutes into an 8 minute 30 seconds long fight.

Puzzle mechs are actually pretty chill if you know the fight and do it properly. But they're also the part of many fights that must be executed properly. In comparison I recently unsynced O12S with some friends and I did Hello World without even knowing how the hell it worked except for "this debuff means you need to stand in the defamation AOE".

I always felt like pangenesis was easy once I understood how it worked. Classical Concepts will still turbofuck me if I'm not paying close attention.

But it's also just one of probably four or five instant kill mechanics an unsynced echo group would probably still run into.

Some new interview from Yoshi-P came out and there's an interesting bit in it:
Regrets over making FF14 less stressful

Yoshida (reflecting on the fan festival): So from now on, we’ll keep working to surprise players and go beyond what they imagine. But that reminds me of something I regret… as we’ve continued to operate FF14, we’ve made the game more comfortable, a game you can play without stress. But looking back on the last 10 years, I’m thinking we’ve overdone that a bit.

Shimoda: What do you mean?

Yoshida: A video game should of course have an element of stress, but how to handle that properly, is extremely difficult…

Shimoda: I can agree with that.

Yoshida: For example, in a side scrolling game, if there aren’t any holes you can drop down into if you miss a jump, of course the game would lose its stress, but it would also lose its fun.

Yoshida: Speaking of FF14, I would like to restore that part a little bit. If we do that, we can give everyone a better challenge, in a good way, than ever before.

Wonder if it’ll cause all the troons and faggots to quit, because we all know they only wanna play a hyper-casual game. If the MSQ was actually hard, they would all likely join the 41%. Will FFXIV finally be good again?

I’m ready for a bit of stress. I was watching streamers do the warring triad for the first time and I missed that era a little.

Oh they'll still play and they'll still piss and moan on the official forums every single day. The game is just a new Second Life for them at this point, so they'll either mod in or pay for whatever they can't earn legitimately.

People will just start making bank on clears and some discord trannies will make a paid bot to automate any mandatory content

I started again a month or so ago; and the fishing autism has got me in its stranglehold again. While I'm not being super strict about it, I'm mostly going by expansion/zones. I have all of ARR done and have most of HW done (missing 4 across 3 zones, one is a pain, others just have shit timers) and I'm moving on to Stormblood; where I already have the Hingashi/Kugane/Rhalgar's fish done. Already had several attempts at The Red Dragon, but I know that one is gonna be a massive grind.

Troons are the anti-casuals. They love obtuse shit because it gives them an excuse to form discord cliques.

I feel like the big fish achievements are the kind of thing where you roll up with one and even the necromancers and legends start to feel intimidated. I've worked on and off on them but I always end up being sidetracked and falling off.

lol, no.

They're big accomplishments, sure, especially since some of the fish are annoying as fuck to get, but they aren't 'intimidating.'
