I'm not saying it doesn't exist in other communities, because it does, but MMOs have a massive cookie-cutter / hive-mind mentality when it comes to things. People doing things that can be seen as feats of strength or tests of skill by the 0.01% suddenly means everything needs to trickle down to the 99.99% for some fucking reason. It's one of my biggest problems with them; as much as the FGC tries to be with their tier lists, most people know that tier lists are mostly inconsequential outside of major tournament winners where accidents/mistakes are least likely to occur. But MMOs, you're a fucking cookie cutter, adhere or get told to kill yourself.

It's the paradox of FFXIV players (but really, more broadly, crap players in general): they want to be acknowledged as 'good' players by being able to earn rewards, but they don't want to put in the actual work for it. Savage variant dungeon rewards being a great example of such.

They want the good shit while simultaneously not acknowledging the reason why they're making the complaints in the first place. They're whining about Barbie Horse Adventures levels of difficult content, demanding it be 'hard' while not wanting to admit that they struggle with the easy shit and wouldn't be able to complete 'harder' content if their life depended on it.

It's fucking irritating, but after seeing years of bitching and moaning in WoW and now this game, I just don't give a shit anymore.

I'm progging TOP rn (reached end of P3, going into P4, but that's an braindead easy phase so realistically I can go into start of P5).

There's no fucking way most people are clearing TOP without healers. Normal strats won't even get past the first mechanic since it applies a 99% HP penalty that you need to heal up pretty quickly for 3rd and 4th towers, and in my experience, you usually want to heal people to about 30k to comfortably survive those towers (might be overestimating a bit tho, but it does at least 20k). I've not seen the VOD but I can immediately say that they are probably running some very weird strats and are probably relying on a lot of luck in certain areas.

The craziest thing is when people complain about certain jobs when they're trying to clear the second floor of a raid tier on week 14.

Bro, unless you're doing week 1 or 2, balance doesn't fucking matter. You're gonna have the damage as long as your party isn't retarded.

The queues are gonna be fucking nice if you're playing tanks/healers tbf. Two new DPS jobs means that you're almost definitely gonna have half-hour long DPS queues.

Orthos I’ve gotten everything I want from (minus the triple triad card). HoH is still there waiting to be conquered though

I went to Orthros on an alt to see if I could level RDM and aetherpool. The alt had never done Orthros before. Matched party timer greater than 30 minutes. Back to spamming Tower of Zot and Babil.

I found HoH a lot easier than Orthros, RDM/SMN/MCH all wreck that place for the first 30 floors.
 
The "healers are terribad" people are rabid to the point I want nothing to do with them. They'll tell you you know nothing about healing, that you aren't a quintuple Ultimate clearer, and telling other healers to play high-level to get true sweaty experiences even while healing is ignorant of you because it doesn't matter and it should be fun all the way... all while they turn around and yell at healers who don't share their opinion that THEY aren't quintuple Ultimate clearers so their say is weightless. Back during Endwalker, Yoshi P's response to these whiny healers was easily the funniest shitshow to hit the official forums. Ah, if only they knew that there's Rextroy over at WoW who solo clears raids.
 
Orthos is an interesting approach to a Deep Dungeon, in that everything in there's auto-attacks tickle but virtually every special ability one-shots you. This is further made into an annoyance thanks to the high health pools of trash mobs, making it a chore to wade through everything, especially if you're lacking in aetherpool and/or pomanders.

I'd love to see the HP on Orthos mobs dropped by like 20% or so for 1-30, to make it a bit more accessible.

Orthos is also, at least at lower levels, not a very interesting dungeon aesthetically. Even for an Allagan structure it doesn't really wow me. The mobs are dragons, magitek bits, and whatever those big claw guys are that one shot the entire room. It doesn't really make me interested in what might be next, especially since the first couple floors are already such a chore. I like how PotD and HoH were a little squishier because even though you have 200 floors to climb you could run through them pretty rapidly. Orthos feels like a slog to progress. I don't even have max aether in it. The others I could comfortably solo or at least level through matchmaking. Orthos feels off the table.

Just as we suspected, healer "strike" isn't doing shit. Japan has no problem with and agree with the current system. It's once again a matter of an entitled minority of westerners trying to dictate how a japanese game should conduct itself. From what I've seen, anyone trying to push the strike gets called a retard and told to play something else if they don't like the current system.

He makes a good point that the people trying to go on strike are people who are ignorant of the game as a whole. There were times in the past where some dungeons were so intense and difficult, that people would just quit because they didn't want to deal with a shitter healer dying all the time or not being able to keep up with how healing intensive it is. Dungeons like The Burn and Pharos Sirius had to be nerfed because some of the bosses and pulls were too much for healers and parties had a harder time clearing because the one person in the party who's supposed to keep them alive just couldn't keep up. The healers aren't the way they are because of the devs, they are the way they are because of the players. Because they COMPLAINED. They complained about cleric stance making it too hard to heal so they got rid of it. They complained that dps rotation for shit damage was too much, so they reduced the amount of damage buttons. The devs aren't to blame for the current state, it's the players.
Xeno finishes by saying that people really don't want the devs to make the game harder because they made it harder in HW with raiding in Gordias and what happened is that people complained and everyone quit raiding so the devs had to nerf things a bit.

Nobody ever knows what they want, nothing the devs do makes people happy. If you cave in and give one small minority what they want, you end up pissing off the majority and you just fall into a hole of making no one happy if you try to cater to everyone. Some people will be unhappy, but that's reality and it's something people need to learn to live with and accept.
