Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I know if I were harassed and doxed by a bunch of troons my response wouldn’t be to become the same as my abusers. That’s just me, though

Depends:
Do the authorities squash bad actors flat or let them run amok.
If the latter, reciprocating is the only way to make it stop.

Or you could just be a degen and join them in an orgy

To those critical of Endwalker:
Keep in mind Yoship presented it as the 4th of a 4 act story, meaning it's the anti-climax of the realm reborn to endwalker over-arc.
Also keep in mind it was developed in the pandemic, which means everyone was depressed as fuck and their creativity was hit pretty hard. (and apparently Soken wrote the soundtrack from a cancer ward?)
It explains to me the uninspired locales and the major let-down from shadowbringers.
(thankfully, DawnTrail's locales look much more like Shadowbringers than Endwalker. They know they dun fucked up)

Regarding the DawnTrail benchmark:
It's run very well for me. They added ambient occlusion, cascading shadows, god rays, DOF, DLSS support, and much better texturing, particularly in grass and foliage.
Still runs at comfy FPS and looks great on its own. Responds very well to certain reshade settings that enhance the experience even more.
I'm a little sad they didn't include any "Solution 9" scenes. Final Fantasy 2077 is the kind of techno-fantasy I haven't seen since Burning Crusade came out for WoW

Remember, allegedly, he likes girls...
So did Chris Chan. It always starts with this really romanticized idea of what a girl is that usually only gets more exaggerated. Then it's not "I like girls because as a man I'm attracted to them" it's "I like girls and want to be one because I failed at being a man."

My hopes aren't high for him. I don't know how you could ironically wear a maid dress and come back from that.

It may just be me, but I segregate the idea of liking girls (as boys do) and liking the idea of girls (as troons do); I'm not saying they're mutually exclusive, but I draw the line at "I like girls" meaning you want to dress up like one, you're not six years old at Halloween. As for his maid outfit, I was almost ready to give him a pass but noticed he put everything, to include the garters on; in any other time period he'd be publicly mocked and laughed at, but because we live in bizzaro world, he'll be fine with all the tranny support.

The post EW cycle was dogshit, much worse than the expansion itself in fact.

I don't understand what you're trying to say on your first point, as for creativity being impacted the music in endwalker is the higher point by a long shot, I would say it has the best soundtrack out of the four expansions, Soken was already in the hospital by the time post-ShB rolled around.
I have no problem with the tone (my favourite segment of the expansion by far and the only bit I consider competent is the Garlemald part and that one ends up with a bloody suicide), it could have been even darker and I would not have minded, I have a problem with it being incompetent.

All in all it's mid, it will remain mid and the post cycle will forever be tainted by a story bad enough to make me appreciate FF13 and content that outside of raids was either experimental and failed to deliver or, worse yet, overhyped and turned to be a boring slog (island sanctuary I'm looking at you)

But hey, maybe it's my fault for expecting much of the company that keeps fucking up with their overpriced statues to the point their "End of the story" super special $400 statue is apparently packaged with 'hopes and dreams' as protection.

Or, and let me shit on their statues just a little more, the time they shipped the omega statues with an absolutely botched paintjob, some coming without their brows painted on, and then decided the "fix" was painting their lips blue and shipping them back.

$230 gets you asymmetrical eyes, true bootleg quality.

Point is, much as I like some aspects of the game, I'm well aware that with modern SE in general quality happens in *spite* of their decisions, not because of them.

I don't think it's incompetent, I think it's very japanese.
Japanese culture has a particular hate-boner for the depressed. They consider them toxic elements to be excised and left to stew until they self-delete.
The entire story makes more sense through that lens.

Yoship was dragged off to do FF16, and I think he took the cream of his team with him.

Anticlimaxes are not known for being particularly compelling.

I don't understand what you're trying to say
I'm saying "mid" is what you're going to get when you have a severely distracted team presenting an anti-climax to a story.
Thankfully the next arc has more promise, as it's comic relief in which they will have to "world-build" for the next compelling arc in 8.0 several years away.

Doesn't JoCat allegedly have a girlfriend?
A part of me hopes that he's doing this to piss off the troons his already pissed off ages ago. They're already mad, might as well make them more mad.
The troons managed to gaslight everyone that the chuds were the real bullies who kicked him off the internet for being straight.
They've gone a long way since claiming Hatsune Miku created Minecraft

The parts that are incompetent are the non depressing ones, and not only that, but they had the perfect chance to show how depression will turn you into a toxic asshole with Hermes and barely elaborated upon it, they could have gone hard on what apathy turns you into with Zenos and he gets put on a bus 1/5th of the expansion in.

Just because the Japanese think that of the depressed it doesn't mean they are incapable of telling stories about being better than a faggot throwing a pity party, look at how berserk handled it.

While a very realistic explanation it doesn't excuse the the absolute slop they served, and further elaborating on depression, have you seen what the FF16 world is like? it makes the 1st legatus of the garlean empire going full Bud Dwyer look like sunshine and rainbows.

It should not have been an anticlimatic ending.

Unless they let me have ishgardian restoration where I run my own taco store it's a 0/10 from me.

I don't view Endwalker as anti-climatic and don't get where that's coming from. The actual conclusion was very epic and grandiose.

You travel to the end of existence where your friends all sacrifice themselves, have a 'greatest hits' walk out to the final confrontation on the back of a fuckoff huge dragon and then square off against your nemesis once and for all. Very JRPG and very 'epic fantasy.'

The problem is that there was a lot of asspulls to get there that made for a fairly uninteresting journey to that moment and you sort of feel like there was a bait and switch going on (again, pretty JRPG and pretty apt that they decided to make Endwalker the 'FF4 expansion') with Meteion being the 'big bad' when Zenos and Hermes were getting set up to be the big bads (and Zodiark just sort of being shoved in there randomly.)

In my mind, I think that the dev team had two problems:

1) they had to try and make sense of the tangled shit that was ARR as a lot of shit from early on in the game doesn't really mesh with what they landed on. This is compounded due to the uncertainty of the future of the game and funding being an issue until Stormblood. This mostly pertains to the Ascians, which is why they're so goddamned retarded in Elpis.

2) they were tired of Garlemald as the primary antagonists and wanted to get through 'dealing' with that as quickly as possible.

Also keep in mind it was developed in the pandemic, which means everyone was depressed as fuck and their creativity was hit pretty hard. (and apparently Soken wrote the soundtrack from a cancer ward?)

Narrative and script was more or less sorted in 2019.

"Yoshida confirms that he and four story writers conceive the premise first, usually locking themselves in a rental meeting room somewhere in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo. The stories are usually planned out far in advance. For “Endwalker,” the story was written by October 2019."

I am sorry but that doesn't make it any good. Deliberately shitting over your previous story is still shit being produced. For 4 stories we followed and fought against villains who tried to accomplish something and then we get a fucking autist who flat out says he never gave a shit about any of that and just wants to end it all and a fucking gothloli they pulled out of their ass half way through the expansion. And as much as I like Zenos he's basically the Gilgamesh of the MSQ.

Well, on the bright side, I did like the Hildibrand quests.

Though I vehemently, vehemently disagree with the (very fucking lazy) decision to make them mandatory in lieu of relic content. I love that shit, but it was better when people who didn't like it didn't have to slog through it.

I'm excited for the next Bojza/Eureka space. The downside of no Garlemald is there's no war battlefield to go to. Unless Eorzea declares war on Tural which would be pretty funny.

From what I remember they're giving us exoplanets to explore?
Time for the goth loli birds to do something other then whine about how they murdered everyone they met.

As a doomer this is the shit that gets me the most excited and invested in a story. I really wish the story had gone even harder than it did. Garlemald had some pretty heavy stuff compared to the rest of the story with someone offing themself and others literally choosing the die in the snow than accept help. It's all pg-13 but that's to be expected for a T game. All the elements are there to tell an amazing story that is extremely pertinent to today and they basically chose not to. Instead they wanted it over with as fast as possible. Now my hate boner for Hydaelyn will never go away. She is such an evil piece of shit. Shadowbringer at least left room for a morally grey character, and Endwalker firmly put her in the this bitch doomed the world to eternal suffering for no reason category.

Sooo I started playing this game recently. I have been playing MMOs for years, but I never got around to trying this one. I'm a little disappointed I didn't try it sooner. The game is fantastic. I feel like I could spend a few years playing this game.
The soundtrack is fantastic. The characters are all aesthetic as fuck. And the story is... actually kind of good? At least the characters and character writing are good so far. I also kind of like all the different transportation methods. I like taking the chocobo porters. I like the easy nature of the quest storylines. Its easy to follow. I can just zone out and play this game. I guess one complaint is that its too easy so far, but I know there's harder content later so I'm content to wait for awhile.

Enjoy the honeymoon while it lasts. Though if you enjoyed ARR's writing, I think you'll enjoy the rest even more.

On the Endwalker sperging, I just have this to say: the post-EW story was so dogshit that it finally convinced me to quit cold turkey halfway through. Dawntrail would have to be insanely good to pull me back.

I have zero hope for the story at this rate. Just the premise of Dawntrail is a giant wet fart to me, because you're doing the exact same thing the enemy faction you fought, up until recently, was doing to other nations. You're essentially becoming a glownigger. I wish they just stuck with "You're on vacation", instead of overthrowing the establishment of a foreign nation, which the idea that this is traditionally allowed in said nation is in itself retarded. Imagine allowing a foreign entity have any sway on the future of your country. Don't even know if I will bother playing, but at the very least YoshiP talking about how the game has become too formulaic brings me hope for the gameplay.

The thing is they waited until the release of Dawntrail to figure it out or at least admit it. I would love an island vacation expansion, but I'm not going to get it because it's going to take at least another expansion before they can do any kind of meaningful change. Yeah the MSQ will be there but I don't think I need to tell you that visiting old content by yourself isn't the same as being able to experience it with everyone as it comes out, especially since we're getting an exploration zone that will be a total ghost town even towards the end of Dawntrail. Better late than never I guess.

Part of the influx of new players are you?
Well, enjoy it for as much as you can. A lot of the folks here are very bitter and jaded about the game for their own reasons (honesty this thread should be renamed to FFXIV Grievance Thread), but I hope you don't let that deter you from your own enjoyment wherever you can find it. Play it as much as you can, take it in and then form your own opinion about it. You'll probably join the rest of us here and our grievances in short order if you make it that far.

I really don't understand the large amount of men who want to suddenly put on my sex like a costume to run away from the reality of being a man. The idea of being a woman has been so glorified that it's laughable. Men are literally so fucking ignorant and have no issues in their lives if they seriously think being a woman is a good idea. We're weaker than men, we have to constantly live in fear of being raped when we go out at night, we're more often the target of murders and subject to laws restricting our rights and freedoms. We have to endure the agony of childbirth with some of us not even being strong enough to survive to see our children. Yet we have a growing number of men who want to overtake our spaces and steal our identities to erase us, working to undo all the work and progress women throughout history have fought for. It really fucks me off that now a bunch of men in drag want to erase my existence and tell me what my reality as a woman is. Men will never be women no matter how much ugly make up they cake on their faces or how many dresses they put on or how many of them snip their dicks off. You will never be a woman. My reality and my experiences aren't props to be worn by mentally ill lunatics with obsessive desires to be perpetual victims or who are so fucking weak willed, they want to pretend to be women because being a man is "too hard".

These days if you're a rape survivor, sucks to be you because now you have to make way for men to come into your safe spaces. YAY! I just love having more potential scenarios for me to be raped shoved down my throat every time I go out in public! There are men in drag going around raping women and yet they are afforded more rights than we are, how insane is that?

Isn't that every game? I don't know of a game with a long time player base that isn't constantly mad, thinks the devs hate the player base, and think the game is going downhill. The mmo I came from had the same problem. But, I'm pretty easy to please and only left because I ran out of stuff to do.
