Others have commented up thread, but the costs are just retarded. They literally could have been closer to their target bandwidth/costs, if they had only *just delivered one stream per user* in the default experience, instead of all 10. Literally would have (almost) cut their costs down an order of magnitude. 3 grand a day is a lot easier to stomach than 30k.
(OK yeah people were coming up with clever ways to show all streams in various apps, and that probably would have continuted, but I promise the bulk were watching on the website, while it worked.)
They clearly didn't bring in proper tech people. There are camwhore sites doing basically this set up, with 1000 streams running all day, every day. Yeah, the audience per stream is typically lower, but I bet overall eyeballs is still higher than what they were doing. And that's assuming they couldn't have done a deal with a Rumble or Odysee.
It's all just incompetent.
