With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

Ideas on how to not fuck the bandwidth [JET BIC ETC. GET ONE OF YOUR PET DUMBASSES TO STOP VAPING FOR TWO MINS AND READ THIS]
  • Send out jpeg caps of the cams taken every few seconds for the overview
  • Maybe keep that going in the background in place of streaming every fucking feed at the same time silently
  • If people are confirmed sleeping maybe have some motion detection going on so it just pauses on a still frame and cuts to mic feed only
  • Cut the restreamers out of the picture how the hell did you guys not see that coming
  • Turn on the metal band and drag queen fishtoys so we can wake them up at 4am with the terror combo

I get that, but you have to think of how many things probably have equal or higher loads and wouldn't be feasible. How much data usage does something like WoW take compared to a $15 monthly sub?

Maybe he just has shitty over use fees, but I'd assume it would be $100k a month not a week.

Video is a different beast. In world of warcraft, most of the data exists client side and it's just positional info and inputs getting sent to and from the server.
 
I doubt Sam is out of money. Likely that one account is out of money. And a large transfer would take time to process... and it is after business hours on Thursday. So Monday.

Assuming it isn't a joke.

If there were free and open source alternatives to the complexities of webhosting, this site would not have been vulnerable to being taken down by corporations. Hell, KF is among the few sites that try to avoid reliance on a third party back end and even then it was still vulnerable to those sorts of attacks.

Restreamers are probably actually saving them bandwidth, if somebody's watching it on Twitch and broadcasting to 100 viewers, that's 100 who aren't taking bandwidth from the actual site.
