Five Nights At Freddy's

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I only just saw this on the YouTube front page, hadn't heard a soul talk about it. Posting it in case anyone's in the same boat.
I saw it a while ago too and was suprised people weren’t making a big deal out of it like the first movie was. I guess the normal fans are too jaded to care about anything nufnaf pumps out and have moved on to greener pastures. I think a major part of it was an influx of fans who know nothing but the “hur hur hur hu-hur” type of memes that popped up around 2020-2021 and the glamrock furry porn enjoyers becoming the majority of the community. Obviously there are still some dedicated fans with classic styles media but I feel it’s been slowly dying besides a few fangame-subseries autists in their own little circles.

I have no idea why security breach felt the need to bring back afton. Vanessa could've stood fine on her own as the overarching villain of the new games.
>be steel wool with series reboot
>regulate purple guy to overarching antagonist via cyber ghost thing, and uses his influence to build and set up Vanny as the new antagonist for whatever they’re doing
>somehow fumbles the bag and end up with purple guy returning as springtrap that does nothing before dying again and sideline Vanny who barely gets anything done.
>fuck up again and retcon purple guy to be some ancient mimic robot and Vanny gets redeemed via some ending being canonized I think.

You’d think they would stop with the whole making shit up on the fly shtick Scott liked doing 9 years ago. Granted the lore has been muddied up since 2016 but we shouldn’t go from “Built up Antagonist” to “another Springtrap variant” to “mimic robot you gotta read the shitty goosebumps ripoff to know, whoops!” Within the same game(DLC included) and still pretend the lore is such an important thing to be solved.

I have exactly zero interest in FNaF, but something about the hours of lore unpacking videos have been perfect background noise of late. Any video suggestions to further screw up my youtube recommendations?

For a Christian family man, Scott sure as hell snorted a ton of coke when he wrote the lore.
I'm pretty sure he didn't expect the first game to blow up like it did. Before it was a little "hoo-hoo-ha-ha so scary what a spoopy mystery" type thing with the secrets but eventually it was obvious he was writing himself into a corner. I'm just glad he decided to put closeure on everything in Pizzarea Simulator/Ultimate Custom Night.

Personally I don't consider anything steel wool puts out as canon.

I choose to believe the pizzaplex/help wanted series is a sequel to the book timeline rather than the game timeline. At this point I think even Steel Wool agrees, since they gave up on making an original villain for the games and settled for yoinking the Mimic straight from the books, while clearly expecting you to have read the books beforehand in order to understand who the Mimic is.

I don’t consider everything after fnaf 4 as canon. I believe FNAF World was the patient zero of the shitfest the series is in today. It’s cutesy aesthetic with little to nothing resembling the past 4 games completely alienating its audiences along with the merch being put on shelves around the same time Led to less mature audiences. I believe Scott should’ve made his own passion project with an older or new ip instead of slapping fnaf onto it and if he wanted to continue with Sister Location onwards, it could’ve been a spin off or inspired by fnaf.

Pizzeria simulator/UCM was important to end the Mike/William storyline after the FNAF 4/SL fumble.

FNAF World, I think, was Scott coming up with something fun tangentially related to FNAF to see if he could ever make a non-fnaf game and it be warmly received. Once the backlash hit he threw all the "lore" and the self insets telling people he wanted out but was stuck making this series forever, so he made the last couple games to finish the "main" story. Hell, he even had to add the names for Mike's brother and Golden Freddy to the survival log book. To which the community waffled on for like 3 years calling the crying child Evan instead of
Dave

Help Wanted was fine, SB and HW2 didn't need to exist though.

I still think if SL never tried to make FNaF 4 an actually real thing instead of a coma dream, then people would be alot warmer to FNaF 4 as a whole. In hindsight it's fairly obvious what the game was, with the only thing really being up in the air being the box. I'll never forgive Scott/the book writers for turning a cool ass coma nightmare scenario into a "William got high once and put his sons into the pants-shitter 3000 he had wired up in his basement.". The final boss of the game is called fucking NIGHTMARE for goodness sake, the IV drip, the flowers, the ending cutscene, it all points towards such an obvious conclusion.

I like Scott alot, but he listened to the fans way too much early on. That, and he's just not good at writing long-form stories.

This is one of the few series I feel needs a clean-slate reboot. Ditch the Agony, ditch the books, ditch Afton being a crazy mad scientist. Just take shit from the first three games and maybe take it in a new, less retarded direction if it must continue on past that.
I feel like the movies are essentially that, which is what appeals me about them.

That's why I really hope they don't integrate the Security Breach stuff into them and why it got so populer amongst fnaf fans.

I wish Scott was better at storywriting, I get the gist that he doesn't review his own scripts when he writes. Maybe he only has fun while developing and finds writing a plot boring.

He probably was flying by the seat of his pants when he was writing the story. I highly doubt these games were supposed to have "deep lore" to begin with, only reason why the first game even existed was because people were making fun of his other games.

FNAF2 being a prequel instead of a sequel is fine. FNAF3 was creative in the way it did the whole "its the future" trope (i.e. what Street Fighter 3 and Tekken 3 did), but it wasn't until FNAF4 that IMO things wen't a little off-the-rails with the story.

it could've been so easy to just make FNAF SB its own thing and remove anyting related from the previous games entirely. keep the idea of it being a "new establishment" and just run with completely new characters. I still dont understand why they had to bring back Afton for it.
