Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

That's why they've brought in salary caps and the like. Letting teams buy old designs from the big boys for everything would lead to a clone midfield since they'd all just buy the drawing off who was fastest last season and with the state of F1 this season and next the mid field is the only really interesting battle.

Maybe if they were allowed to access last year's designs for all parts on all cars via the FIA but had to show a level of innovation to show it wasn't a copy it would help level the field but I doubt any teams would go for that.

That in turn would just run the problem of making new entries run a gauntlet of rules lawyering which for a 100 million + budget ANYTHING is not worth it unless the potential outcome is somewhere in the billions.

Even then, I strongly suspect customer cars will make a comeback out of necessity to fill out the grid simply to preserve there being many teams on the grid.

Edit: If you want a potential example of how to make this fair to all constructors, it would be so that there would be a formal way of distributing a specific amount of entry slots per manufacturer based on where they finished last year by taking the remaining 6 empty slots and dividing them so that people at the bottom would get first dibs on what races they get to run a third car in. They would also be able to get their telemetry and the cars would also be eligible for constructor points.

Renault, Ferrari and McLaren appealing against the racing point penalty. They're saying (pretty logically) that if a part isn't ok why are they still able to run it. Renault raise a good point, their development data shows they used about 20% of their allowed wind tunnel time designing their brake ducts so getting that time back would give more of an advantage than the brake ducts themselves. I get the feeling this one is going to keep going all season.

It could also go like the appeal against the Ferrari-FIA deal secrecy, as in it just fizzles out and nobody gives a fuck about it anymore.

As idiotic as the FIA is, they are being internally consistent by not treating it as an illegal part per se.

Fucking hell sky F1 get annoying "oh do you think Lewis doesn't get the admiration he deserves?" Look guys there isn't enough hours in the day for you to suck his cock any more than you already do. And how the fuck was his pole last week "surprising"? How much faster is that Merc?

It's embarrassing how our media just suck the cock of any British athlete who does well. Same with Andy Murray a few years back.

Why the fuck should I admire Lewis anyway? He'll go down as one of the greats of F1, sure, but that doesn't mean I have to lavish him with praise at every second. I respect Schumacher for being a great driver, doesn't mean I don't think he was a bit of a dirty prick at times.

The problem is they also love the underdog story so have to pretend it's a surprise that Lewis was on pole last week (because he had an extremely minor spin in Q2) or that he has some sort of struggles in his dominance. It leads to a completely disingenuous cock sucking where they are making out he's coming out on top despite the odds while driving a car that is at least a second a lap faster than everyone else with a reasonably compliant teammate.

British media seriously can't get enough of Lewis. He could murder an orphan and he'd still have a bunch of flattering articles about how that orphan deserved it.

"our campaign to end racism around the world".

Someone ask Lewis what his stance on white farmers in South Africa is.

Please someone take Lewis off on lap 1, I would say Mercs take eachother out but we need a Bottas win with a Lewis DNF for the sake of at least pretending the championship is going to be interesting this year.

Hopefully this race will produce something to talk about that involves the action on the track! LOL

Hulk got a chance at the podium? Will Verstappen starting on hards give him an opportunity to win the race at the end? Will we get safety car(s)? Will Ferrari get both cars in the points? Will the tyres be a story again?

I may record the feed and go sit out on the deck since its nice morning here (10AM). Still debating it! HA

I don't think Vestappen has a chance even on that strategy unless the Mercs have a problem. I think it basically guarantees him 3rd though. I do hope Hulk gets it but that's only happening if a Merc of Vestappen have a problem.

I do wonder if DAS is contributing to Merc fucking their front tyres. Toe angle is super important for tyre warming, wear etc and with it being adjustable one of the driver's leaving it even marginally outside of the "optimum" position will create a lot of extra tyre temperature, wear, side wall load etc. The team won't be able to tell them to adjust it on the radio because they have to drive the car unaided.

I can’t see Verstappen’s tyres lasting the whole race. The heat (at the British Grand Prix, lol) is fucking everyone’s tyres and the king of aggressive racing wants to manage them to a one stop race? No chance.

Lol Hamilton immediately accusing Red Bull of cheating.

Are they trying the 1 stop with Ham or are they pushing it to stick the yellows on and try and chase them down? Either way hopefully they go and stick him in the gravel.

No way they finish the race on those tyres. Just trying to spin them out for as long as they can so he can push hard on a softer compound towards the end.

Pit lane penalty for Hamilton?

They're trying to manufacture Lewis beating Bottas. They don't really care about the win at this point.

F1 subreddit seething at Hulk being pitted, likely to get Stroll to finish higher. To be fair would you rather your temporary driver or your permanent one picked up more points?

Well Merc got what they wanted with the order of their drivers. The commentators are trying like crazy to downplay Marc having obvious favourites.
