Back in the day you didn't get XP from playing it, which is one of the reasons I never played it heavily as I was more concerned about the battle pass. I do like "Save the World" and I do wish it became free to play or at least allow access after a V-Bucks purchase, because then there'd actually be a bunch of people playing. "Save the World" is a good way to earn XP when the season starts and there's no quests to earn levels, as you're likely to get a full level by just playing one mission. There is a cap on how much XP you can get, but I don't know if it's weekly or daily..

I enjoy "Save the World" because it's one of those "Podcast Games" where you play and just put something interesting or your own music to listen to. My favorite missions are Save the Survivors or Eliminate Husks because they don't require building and have a Hard Time Cap, where as the other missions don't start the timer till the objective is started.

This fucker needs to find his own Goddamn medkit.
The cap is daily around the time of the shop reset if it helps.
The medkit guy is a fucking shot in the dark whether you're gonna get an npc with just his model that'll say 'thanks" and leave or actually be him and engage the rng medkit quest. One time it spawned under the map for me somehow and I could not complete it. If it was in a cave I found no entrance despite travelling the entire area it was supposedly in for half an hour, I'm pretty sure it was just glitched.

Personally I tend to do better on the ones where the objective timer starts after you manually activate it. RNG co-op lobby stuff keeps putting me in lobbies where people trigger husk shit way too early and then just leave to a different part of the map for the survivors or abandon mid mission on the timed shit.

So, the trailer for Chapter 5 just dropped a while ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjij-OX9RKI

New chapter is called "Underground"; judging from what we've seen, it looks like it's going to be about rescuing Peeley, who got kidnapped from the bunker by an unknown group. The new characters this season - led by Jonesy - are gearing up to rescue him. Among the group includes: Solid Snake, Peter Griffin, and that tiger skin that's been teased for about 2 years now - slightly off-topic is that the tiger skin has an alt similar to/based on the Hellhound Cerberus skin from the survey.

New features include: riot shields, revamped movement options including wall-running, a train going around the map, a grapple claw item that acts similar to the Attack on Titan movement gear, weapon attachments, a possible first-person mode, and the ability to move slightly while gaining shields and possibly healing.

So, what do you guys think?

Skins look good, always love more movement options.. But I'm very indifferent to weapon mods..

Every other BR has them, and honestly sometimes they're a headache to deal with. That was the one positive that I always liked about Fortnite was the lack of weapon mods, which made weapon selection a bit more important. I don't know how I want them to handle it, but I don't want it to end up with just a ton of useless mods popping out of chests.

If they got rid of Augs, it might be it for me. Augs were such a game changer that they made each match feel different. Chapter 4 was my favorite followed by Chapter 2, and I was really hoping that they'd just continue with the style of chapter 4, but just.. More.

The appeal of Fortnite to me is the more arcade like game-play and out there ideas, if I wanted to play a more realistic game there's a ton of other BR games to play.

Yeah, the weapon mods/attachments bit is a bit annoying; apparently there's been a bunch of people - mostly the kids that follow the big-money YouTubers, granted - that seem to have been clamoring for them, but I can't really figure why. All's adding weapon attachments is going to do is make the game even more sweaty.

Have they really gotten rid of Augs? I know that the OG event removed them because... well, it was supposed to be a call-back to the earlier days of the game, but I never heard if they were actually getting rid of them for good or not.

I caught this after watching the trailer a couple of times.

There's been a ton of talk about the devs potentially releasing some TMNT-related skins sometime in the future; I'm personally neutral to the idea, but whatever works, I suppose.

I am thinking about just leaving the game myself, frankly; I am hoping that the game manages to improve from here on out, but I'm not holding my breath.

Is it me or are they using the Smash version of Snake?

Less of an event and more of a trailer for Lego Fortnite and Rocket League. I guess the Lego thing explains the new costume restrictions, since it seems like only some skins have been Lego-fied. I dunno, maybe I'm overthinking it. Good riddance to OG. Bring on Chapter 5!

lol wouldn't surprise me.

I liked the event even if all it was was an interactive trailer. Group I play with had fun reacting to everything that went on. I really hope there's more to the Lego Fortnite part, because it really tickles that autistic part of my brain.

Isn't the event going to repeat several more times tonight? Once around 5:00, and the other around 11:00?

Whole day in queue, apperently servers went down a fdew minutes before the rerun was supposedto happen, not that it'd have mattered because I was in yet anothe queue that increased by 10 minutes while i wasn't looking atit so it was 4:35 instead of 4:25 when it ended and gave the same result as the first queue. over 8 fucking hours of this shit. Of course reactions streamers had no problem getting in, blech.

At least a few of my friends got lucky with the event and made it in but this reminds me of "the device" event where it just shat itself for like normal players.

I should start playing Fortnite.
Same here, I was considering picking it up when Rick Sanchez popped up as a Battle Pass reward but battle royales (excluding Fall Guys, which I played for a while since it’s essentially battle royale with Mario Party’s mini-games) weren’t really my kind of thing at the time

The Rick & Morty season was a pretty great season. UFOs won me so many games and being abducted was pretty crazy and fun. I also unironically love Sunny's song.

Initial impression of Chapter 5: the map is beautiful, and the guns feel great to use. I haven't played around with mods or the train yet, but I did explore the Resident Evil mansion and the Italian village. Very cool areas. My only complaint is how awkward the grapple is compared to every other webslinging toy in the game's history.

I don't know if OG was a way for them to take another month to polish the new map, but if it was, it really shows.

I do like how they handled weapon mods.. They're already attached to weapons and you can alter them at a weapons bench for about 75 gold a pop or just take them off for free. No augs, but I do like the pick a mission for a nice 5k XP. Train's alright, do like how it's on the map and Boss Medallions are nice but I never got to actually use the Shield Regen.

Healing items starting to heal as they are applied is a complete game changer, AND you can slowly walk with them too.. Crouching now is super quiet, but super fucking slow as a result feel like that's a good change to stop CSing bitches.

Some of the BP rewards are good, I do like the Tiger Guy, and there's a crap ton of family guy items through out the Bonus Items and Snapshots. Great that Peter's pick is the Butt Scratcher, but wish they went with fat peter instead of buff, but I do understand why they did it.

If I have one problem, it kinda seems the optimization took it up the ass with this update. 'Cause the OG event rant fine for me, here I tend to get sudden lag spikes and texture loading.

Fairly certain that Augs are supposed to be returning sometime in the future; there's a quest that says to activate them available, even though they aren't in the game yet. So, that's something to look towards. I will say; the new movement mechanic for the shields and health takes a bit getting used to, since they don't heal all at once, and movement such as jumping or sprinting will cancel it early, meaning that you lose whatever health/shield that you couldn't get. Not exaclty a deal-breaker, mind - it's actually REALLY useful - but there are quite a few sweats this season.

Looking forward to what the rest of this season will bring; definitely going to be playing more!

it was a bit more fun to kill the npc UFO pilots and then just go around the map bombing random people while blasting the war of the worlds ass foghorn noise, Unless you mean the optional minigame they had for a bit where you had to actively look for the area a stagnant ship was at the start of the match so you could get caught in the beam and taken to a minigame which was pretty interesting. The hype around the aliens from the NPCS was kinda funny knowing they weren't actually friendly but were part of a death cult militia hell bent on eradicating all life across all timelines .

The petercopter and Buff Peter are both references from the first few seasons of Family guy but they kinda severely nerfed Buff Peter's ass like they did Snake's by just making his legs and head the same as fat peter. Seems to be a case like every Spongebob and Simpsons reference where the stuff everyone actually likes from the show was over a decade or 2 ago now. I'll get around to trying out the actual season in a few hours or so probably.

My only nitpick with this update is that your outfit, emotes, gun wrap and even the loading screen are all separate now. So if I switch outfit and want themed gun skin set or emotes to go with it, I gotta assign load those up too in separate windows. The shuffle system for skins is seemingly absent too.
