Well, I finally picked up the game (after saying I would when Peter Griffin was available and not doing it) during the last few days of the Simpsons season and completed everything (I'd be lying if I said I didn't use V-Bucks to help complete the main Battle Pass). The only thing I'm kind of miffed about it not getting into the game earlier in the month and getting Krusty and Moe when they were available in the shop but I'm happy I got the Scratchy and Tighty Whitie Homer bundles.

As far as the new season's going I like it but I'm keeping myself locked into Zero Build because managing building shit and making sure I don't get shot is a chore.

The only thing I really don't like so far is the surfing mechanic. Though considering one of the quests is to find the pieces of the Battle Bus, I imagine its temporary.

The big problem is the Bus gave you a lot of choice on where to drop, but with the Surfing you basically have to land at whatever POI the game spawns you nearest. You can maybe go a little left or right but this is just giving everyone else an early touchdown.

Yeah, surfing is temporary; the Battle Bus will be returning next update. To be honest, I like the whole mechanic myself; feels a bit unique what with every BR game having you jumping from a flying vehicle, though I suppose I can see why some don't like it.

Pretty good chance they'll show up again fairly soon; "big" bundles like this usually do. Keep some cash handy, just in case.

Zero Build is considered to be the better mode, anyways; based more on actual gunfighting skill (and sometimes luck) whereas the regular BR mode is based more on how well you can spam builds. ZB is more fair, essentially.

Don't tell the sweats that--I've seen a lot of people (youtubers especially) who call Zero Build the "baby mode."

That said I pretty much agree. I didn't mind builds the few times I played it, but in a game that is already this hectic the last thing I want is one more thing I need to keep track of. If I wanna build, I'll play Minecraft.

The sweats are probably the worst thing about the game, really; constant whining and trying to get everything made into the dullest crap imaginable. Back in the "Wrecked" season from 2024 - which was supposed to be about vehicle combat, mind - the crybabies got vehicles nerfed within the first week because they "couldn't counter them by building" and were being forced to learn different strategies. Similarly, they whined and got the advanced movement mechanics that Chapter 6 brought to the game because it was "too difficult for them to learn"; similarly, they praised the game when there was a bunch of overpowered melee weapons and full-blown godmode-granting buffs in the game, and outright screamed and whined like children when they thankfully got removed.

From what I can tell, the sweats won't stop whining until the game's reduced all the way back to Chapter 1 Season 1; seriously, they want minimal movement options and OP builds, and anything that can potentially counter that at all is shunned. It's retarded.

On that note... man, I can't wait for the OG mode to be back online.

One weird thing lately is even though I started playing shortly before the Godzilla season, I'm actually kinda nostalgic/longing for the game as it was in that state. I don't know how you get nostalgic for a game you've only been playing for a year, but there you go.

And I wish there was some way to go back and play Fortnite as it was back then (even if they have to remove all the licensed elements).

I'd even be happy playing against Bots.

It's kinda sad/lame that there's not a built-in way to play a map of your choosing. Even Minecraft lets you play older versions.

I had heard that Creative users had tried to recreate maps, and I tried searching for them, but didn't really find any.

Just once more, I'd love to be sliding down that one snow-capped mountain and being sure to grab one of those blue guys on the way down....

EDIT: by the way, has anyone besides me felt like vehicles are a lot harder to find? I noticed this during the Simpsons season too... before, it felt like you basically tripped over cars, vans, and motorcycles. During the recent seasons though, I really have to search high and low for a vehicle.

Just a head's up: check out Yuki's Revenge while its still available. Its a ten minute short film by Quentin Tarantino that's surprisingly good for a Fortnite in-game movie. You're also unlikely to find an intact version on youtube because of the licensed music used throughout the short.

I've been playing on and off since chapter 1 season 4 but peter griffin season got me back in hard and I haven't missed a bp since.

Underwear homer and normal/green homer is a weird purchase but nice

Once epic added that mode which allowed you to run around the map solo with unlimited maps the build sweat mindset started.
Before this 90% of the playerbase really only used building to get around and basic defense, that mode allowed people to practice and start sweating their balls off to win games. I'm honestly shocked i was able to play the seasons i did with no zero build.

No they 100% did nerf the fuck outta car spawns. People talk about chapter 7 being more "warzone like" and the lower vehicle spawns feels like warzone.

I don't have that much money to spend on game skins so i didn't get any of the bundles (save for moe bart and undwerwear homer by himself and even then not all at once and moe was my BP vbucks)

Fuck dude i miss the firefly jars
Good counter to the build box spammer element which much like grenades got nerfed into basically unusability so the buildspam2win shit just kept chugging and there's some peopel that just blatantly bot their build movements somehow there's no way someone's doign a 3 wide platform and then demolishing it while facing one direction and swwitching weapons all at once nigga I can SMELL the hackers when i run into them in both zero build and "normal" fortnite but I've pretty much been doing exclusively zero build the last few seasons because it became fucking unplayable on the build enabled mode for me several seasons ago.

I'm fine with build mode and I love it as fortnite's main thing to be able to actually build stuff but people don't actually BUILD forts anymore they just build nonsense no effort structures and spam them in a way controller players just can't on top of controller guys having to fight the janked out aim assist that got screwed with because they got mad about being hit when hopping around in circles so now you always encounter sweats running around like crack monkeys to fuck with the aim assist because it will and I mean WILL always target the area behind or below where they are even if you keep pushing at the headshot area.

They just officially published it there.

Kinda wish the surfing intro was used a bit more, personally; I know a lot of people don't like it, but it feels unique/helps keep you on your toes after just dropping in from the bus for so long. It's still technically available now - there's a smaller chance to end up surfing into the island instead of using the bus - so I guess I can't complain too much.

As for the season itself; it's honestly pretty decent in my opinion. Got a cool selection of characters this go-around - the lion is weirdly funny - and the overall map looks great and plays pretty well. I like landing at the carnival POI and just messing around for a bit on the attractions; if you guys ever see a dumbass emoting on the lazy river, it's probably me. Guns selection this season is weird; the dual shotguns feel off for some reason, not a fan of the big electric gun, but I do like that the Forsaken Vow Blade (The Bride's katana) isn't overpowered - feels like a weaker version of the Chapter 6 katana, and I just lost a match using it, which is honestly good news in my eyes.

EDIT: Apparently, they decided to add Danny Phantom to Fortnite. Bit lost, but... okay? Seems a bit late for Halloween...

They've apparently reversed course on this (or my luck changed)--I played last night and the night before and cars are suddenly way more common.

Theory: Cars were rare because all production was being put towards rebuilding the Battle Bus, and now that it's back the factories can go back to making cars for us to crash ;)

Yeah when I saw that I was like "are you serious?"

Fortnite collabs feel kind of random. Simpsons made sense--its literally a franchise everyone knows--but Danny Phantom?

A thought I shared with friends: Lupin the Third would have been perfect during that heist season a few months back (and if you watch movies like Fujiko's Lie, some of the combat feels right out of Fortnite). But instead that's when Adventure Time drops. People tried to tell me Lupin the Third isn't well-known enough to be in Fortnite... but that kinda seems invalidated by them having a freaking Nicktoon that ended a decade ago.

(Lupin being "obscure" would only be true in North America anyway--he's pretty well known everywhere else).

My theory on this is that the devs felt that they already had too many collabs so far, at least for the season; that, and it's actually pretty likely that they were already tied up getting the other collabs put in the game. Remember, One Punch Man got delayed for about half a year (was supposed to drop during the Star Wars mini-season, didn't happen until Shock & Awesome), and there's also a persistent rumor that The Nightmare on Elm Street was supposed to be in this Fortnitemares but got cut from there being too many collabs already.

Still doesn't explain Adventure Time, though.

My Fortnite wrapped for 2025. Everything seems pretty even, overall. Shame the Simpsons season wasn't longer.

Well shit, all three of the MHA bundles are back in the shop. I actually remember getting one of ‘em and having some slight interest in the villain bundle when it dropped. Guess I’ll have to get it and the other two before they fuck off for another year or more considering that the main anime is ending this week.
Pretty good chance they'll show up again fairly soon; "big" bundles like this usually do. Keep some cash handy, just in case.
I’ll keep that in mind, I’ll also have to get that emote in the Bugha bundle for the memes when it comes back.

Anyone else struggling with OG? When I'm not getting wiped by some sweat who just so happened to get a lucky shot off that insta-kills me from a mile away, it's the game repeatedly crashing on me whenever I manage to start making progress. Also, is it just me, or are the OG map and guns just not really all that fun to play?

EDIT: Also, that Spartan skin dropped in Shock & Awesome is still the go-to "sweat" skin.

I just want the umbrella for this season; is it too much to ask?

Anyone enjoying this year's Winterfest so far? I will say the way they handled presents this year is pretty stupid; if you hadn't already made progress in grabbing gifts, then it's now impossible to grab everything due to the new "1-per-day, no stacking" policy.

Outside of that, I've also been considering getting back into Save the World recently. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to do just yet; been forever since I last touched it, currently on "Homebase Storm Shield Defense 3" in Stonewood (yes, I'm very early-game, been messing with "Fight the Storm" stuff when I last played), and I've been having some trouble. Mostly just hesitant/confused on what gear to grab, what missions to do for EXP, that sort of thing; main issue is getting used to the building mechanics. I pretty much never touched them previously, so it's a bit awkward learning to incorporate them into typical gameplay.

Still, I'd appreciate some tips; currently running that starting Soldier character, Ramirez, was going to be running a Ninja for my main once I get one. Any tips for what to grind for once I get deeper into it all? I... don't know if I'll be trying to complete literally everything in the mode; mostly just looking to complete the main story (Uncanny Valley Storm King, right?), maybe do some events and such, but I don't know about grabbing a "god-rolled max-level character build" like some others. Any ideas? This is a very fun mode; would love to be able to dive in further.
