Game of Thrones Thread

This looks awful..also judging by the way they structured the trailer with the BOOM BOOM BOOM (GET EXCITED CONSOOMERS!)..I'm doubtful this series will have what made seasons 1-4 fantastic/memorable which is why GoT got such a large following in the first place. Even in the comments people are bemoaning 'Season 8'...Bitch Season 8? Season 7 was equally as terrible and unless you're talking about how Season 5 jumped the shark and Season 6 became 'yes queen slay' idk.

They should have just made it book accurate. Judging by the throne alone they are making something terrible.
If they made it book accurate the throne wouldn't fit in their studio, lol. George's sense of scale is completely out of whack and his canon illustration of the throne is like 40 feet tall.

The presence of Matt Smith already has me questioning how bad this could turn out, no mention of D&D yet but the director(s) still haven't been announced
Just a reaction to the Thumbnail.

THE Scourge of Carpathia, Sorrow of Moldavia, Vigo the Carpathian, Vigo the Cruel, Vigo the Torturer, Vigo the Despised, Vigo the Unholy

I just can't get over how terrible the casting is. I love Matt Smith, truly, but a Daemon Targaryen he is absolutely not. He's just completely lacking in any of the rougishness that Daemon is so well known for. Not to mention he doesn't look like much of a warrior, something Daemon was also infamous for. He would have been better cast as Aegon II, frankly.

Mysaria is also ill cast imo. They cast some Asian lady to play her and kept the lady's black hair and dark eyes, which goes against the whole "albino, literally called the White Worm" thing Mysaria has going for her in the books. The lady would honestly have made a better Tyanna of the Towers with her hair and eyes, but that's a whole different time period.

And I don't need to speak about the poor Velaryons because the people in this thread have done that plenty. I'll only say that unless they've also cast a black dude as Harwin Strong, they've made it even easier for Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffery's parentage to be identified. After all, if a white lady and a black man have kids and every single one of them are white as hell, then it's very obvious that mom's been fucking around. Even more obvious than in the books, where it could at least be half-assedly explained via brown haired ancestors.

Alicent's alright, I guess. I expected her to be older, though. Alicent's in her early forties during the Dance and the actress that plays her as an adult is literally only 27 lmfao.

At least the costumes all look good. That's one plus I will give them.

The new trailer is going over like a wet fart on the internet.

Season 8 might have really killed the franchise. Unreal that people were thinking Martin was the new Tolkien during the middle half of the show. It's obvious now he is a TV writer that works on cliffhangers.

It's now officially canon that one of the Targ kings had swords removed from the fucking ground of the throne room, presumably because people kept tripping over and cutting their heads off.

Really now, not even the few consoomer shit sites I frequent gave any attention to the trailer been released.
They were more excited over fucking Sora in Smash Ultimate than this. How the mighty have fallen. There was a time all things GoT were THE talk of the internet geek circles whenever something new related to the series dropped.

Quite amusing to see those yellow ratings creeping in, that's when the "baaad poosi" Dorne subplot appeared.

I remember some sites started to call them "Porne". They reduced the whole Dorne plot to "these brown people like to fuck a lot."

I'm not risking my mind and emotions with this new show.

When you think about it, why are they kneecapping themselves with a prequel? This makes everything that happens in the new show painfully irrelevant, since anyone who cares enough to watch knows the whole thing ends with a wet fart of an anticlimax. They'd have a better chance going with a sequel (maybe break the fAegon plot the show skipped out into its own series, IDK) and hoping to win back the fans instead of going full Baghdad Bob and pretending nothing went wrong.

I like fAegon... please keep anyone from HBO away from muh boi, he's too pure for this world and that Cable network.

fAegon gonna die.

Anyway-am I the only one that thinks the cast looks ugly as shit? Despite Targaryens being beautiful and otherworldly looking.

The actress for Rhaenyra looks way too old.
I've seen a lot of people saying the cast is ugly and Rhaenyra is too old.

I’m sure it’s intentional. If they can’t get blacks in the show(at least as much as they would like) they can make beautiful regal white royals look ugly instead.

I almost misread that as the pig fucking Klingons stealing the swords. >_<

Because GRRM hasn't written any sequel material lol. If they learned anything from D&D, it's that when left to their own devices these writers produce nothing but cringe.

Well, that part’s obvious. The question is more, who the fuck was asking for this? Surely they must have an ounce of self-awareness to realize that D&D already torpedoed their biggest franchise beyond the point of no return.

It was their franchise series for the better part of a decade, and was more of a mainstream sensation than the Sopranos or the Wire ever were. It made them so much money and public opinion only soured on it in the last 4 episodes or so (really, just the burning of King's Landing). They'd be fools to not try and continue to profit off of it, if they can make sure the series can just stick the landing this time they're in for tons of cash.

People in this thread (including myself) probably won't like it, but we're not the masses that made the latter half of the series such a continued sensation. These people are:
