Game of Thrones Thread

So somebody tell me, who will Sansa end up with? There are some annoying Sansa lolcows that are so smug that she's gonna marry Jon in the end, and I just wanna get some satisfaction out of making them also go into meltdown mode.

The real winners are the free folk. Everyone who cares about fucking with them is pretty much dead and there's a sweet hole in the wall of they want to fuck around in the south. Also the iron bank, who hasn't been paid back yet, and lives in town with the super assassin death cult to help collect. Maybe that's the secret lesson. You only truly win if you live off the grid or if you're with the bank :^)

RIP in Power, Stannis I.

You burned orders of magnitude fewer children alive than the Queens.

It is pretty amusing that in the mythology of at least the show, the best choice BY FAR would have been the brother who rightfully should have succeeded Robert. A dull Cincinnatus who would have ruled in an efficient if unspectacular fashion, gotten rid of the schemers like Littlefinger and would have certainly sent men to the white walker crisis at the border.

Care to explain me what happened to Rome? Because it's not the first time that show's been mentioned in this thread.
The show was an expensive period piece, and didn't bring in enough viewers to make up for the cost, so it was given the axe. Same thing happened to Deadwood, and unfortunately didn't happen to Westworld.

I'd be stunned if they're planning for her to end up with anybody.

Really, if they wanted to do this, they should've made her a lesbian and had her seduce Dany. Sophie Turner's a dyke in real life, so she would've had a chance at actual chemistry with Emilia Clarke. Even if it failed, it wouldn't be any more preposterous or goofy than the Jon/Dany romance, or the uncountable errors they've made from season six on.

I can't express how thankful I am that I got my friend to spoil the rest of the series for me when I finished season 4.
Season 5 and afterwards went completely down hill...

Also, what's the point of Arya in King's Landing?

Poor Dany. All she wanted was to fuck her nephew.

The good guys enter the city and all the Lannister soldiers surrender. The bells are tolling, and the fight apparently ends without any civilian dying, the only casualties being the Golden company Mercenaries and a bunch of pirates. But uh oh, Daenerys doesn't like the sound of the bells and goes crazy (no, I'm not making this up) and starts burning down the citiy, roasting most of the population of King's landing before heading to the red keep to burn it. Grey Worm goes "Yass kween slay!" and starts killing Lannister soldiers, followed by the rest of the Unsillied, Dothraki and Northmen. Once they're out of defenseless soldiers to kill they move on to the civilians.
Nah. They've been alluding to Dany being a bloodthirsty maniac for a while. But Benioff and Weiss are bad writers. So rather than shocking and disgusting the audience in a cathartic fashion, they've made the whole affair feel unreal and preposterous. They themselves are now the most hated people in the history of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Usually, only shounen mangaka fuck up long-running narratives this badly. But mangaka are worked to death for nowhere near enough money compared to the effort required of them to get serialized. Benioff and Weiss had all the time and money there could be, and they still did this.

Dany going apeshit is fine--I don't even mind her being triggered into madness--but the way it was executed came out of nowhere and makes it look like this was all because of Missandei and not, you know, because she recently lost Jorah, two dragons, Jon's love, etc.

Missandei wasn't worth the lives of innocent civilians.

As previously mentioned, it was an expensive period piece with middling viewership that had a rushed 2nd season b/c HBO told the showrunners their previous 5 season arc had to be wrapped up by the end of season 2. What wasn't mentioned is that almost immediately after canceling Rome, HBO greenlit Game of Thrones, another expensive period piece, which resulted in a lot of the show's actors and crew concluding that their show was prematurely canceled to instead make Game of Thrones. Most of the main actors (Kevin McKidd, Ray Stevenson, James Purefoy) were regular suggestions in fan-casting for future Game of Thrones seasons as the show took off, and a few of them like McKidd actually said they resented the show enough for Rome's cancellation that they had zero interest in playing any Game of Thrones characters.

Not all of them though, the man who played Brutus played Edmure Tully.

Caesar himself wound up as Mance Rayder.

They're making a Deadwood movie that should be out soon, cocksucker.

I watched the first episode of their Chernobyl miniseries after watching the garbage fire on GOT. Thought it was really good. Seeing something set in 80s USSR and not be a shitty spy movie is cool.

Part of me wishes they hired out a mixed Ukrainian and Russian cast as the characters and had it in their native languages, but fuck it, it's great.
IMHO, Chernobyl with an Ukrainian and Russian speaking cast would be glorious.

Even in the episode itself, she tells John she has no choice but to rule by fear. But her chemistry with Jon was so non-existent, the line didn't hit home at all.

Not to mention she went from one of the saviors of mankind to the Hitler of Westeros (complete with the raining ash) in TWO FUCKING EPISODES. Not that horrible stuff doesn't happen in war, nor that Dany hasn't done horrible stuff in previous seasons, but Anikin Skywalker had a more believable path to becoming Darth Vader in the Star Wars Prequels. Anikin at least already murdered the men, women, and children in an entire village before he officially became a Sith and started killing even more children. The worst thing Dany did before this was burn a man and his son alive for refusing to kneel to her, after she gave them both repeated chances for mercy.

There were countless chances to have Dany one-up on atrocities before she finalized her solution to the King's Landing Question, and none of them were taken.

I hope Happy Madison takes over Bighead Littlehead.

Of course it would be. But the educational system in America created generations of lazy illiterate fucks who can't read subtitles.

I never cared about this show before but now I would like to watch it only for the trainwreck. Sadly, there are 5 good seasons before the disaster, I wouldn't have the patience to wait until there.

Now I just need the MCU to be Last Jedi'd. And finally, all this garbage geek subculture will be terminated.

The dude said danny going mad is "terribly misogynistic", that's pretty exceptional in my book.
That was them. They're just mad you pointed out they were being exceptional, by claiming pointing out exceptionalism is in and of itself exceptional.

Because they're exceptional.

And I typed out exceptional every time. So I am also clearly quite exceptional...

Bravo.

There's a huge number of talented actors in the world, not only in the United States, Great Britain and the Commonweaalth countries that are mostly ignored because they were born in the "wrong" place.

Also, it would've been nice to see the Arya Stark/Ilyn Payne showdown. I mean, since she's already at King's Landing... 💁🏻‍♂️

IIRC Payne's actor had to bow out due to throat cancer? I think that's why Bronn trained Jaime in S4 or S5
