CP at this point seems unlikely. It's extremely easy to prove (just possession) and I'm sure search warrants have likely been issued long ago for his phone and computer. They would surely have tacked that charge on already if it was found. (Unlike the more complicated potential rape charge which requires Barbs testimony regarding consent and cooperation to a certain extent).

And for digital CP, which is what Chris would likely have, the feds usually get involved due to it being interstate in nature, which hasn't happened here, and there haven't been any federal charges filed.

Part of the reason that most Americans (and most people in the world) have such a poor understanding of the American legal system is the result of popular media getting it very, very wrong. Even legal procedural shows get shit wrong usually.

My opinion, there have been too many continuances for a crime of this nature to not lead into something even worse. So here is my wild, baseless, and sensationalized speculation:

Getting Chris framed for CP would be a Bella-type gayop, but there's no evidence she ever tried it, or ever mentioned it. Also Chris is absolutely garbage at keeping secrets, and we'd have some inkling that he was looking at CP just because it would probably make some sort of impact on what he was thinking about, and Chris *always* spills the beans, at least vaguely, about what he's thinking about.

I do not think this is the case, and if Chris had been fed CP by Bella I think Bella would be freaking out a lot harder now (we already know she spread links to CP onion sites but we have no proof she spread actual CP, and there's no evidence Chris has ever used TOR. Yeah. Chris has never shown sexual interest in actual children. The only thing I could see Chris getting in trouble for ever is maybe something with a 17-year-old, and a) I don't see any 17-year-olds willing to bang Chris, b) I don't see him interacting with any 17-year-olds that would be unable to cow Chris and put him in his place if he tried. c) If some 17-year-old wanted to bang Chris really badly they could probably just meet up at a ponyfucker con in Maryland or all of the other states surrounding Virginia where it would be legal. d) Even if it happened, it's a lesser crime in Virginia than fucking your mom.

If Barb had granted him access for shared household purposes, then at worst it would be a violation of the EPO. While I think, on the whole, Chris probably spent more on Lego than he brought in, I don't think it reaches the level required to prove that the relationship was entirely extractive, which is what would be required.

Basically they would have to prove that Barb either didn't know about it, or was mentally incapacitated (meaning she was completely incapable of understanding how her finances worked). Barb may have been slow and demented but she was still capable of reading a bank statement.

Barb putting up with Chris' bullshit was still her choice.
