Kinda random but I can't be the only one who originally thought the Vance brothers were black right? I know they're half Dominican, half white, but picking black VAs then doing that was a strange decision by Rockstar. Either way, VCS always holds a special place for me and I've always enjoyed it, definitely one of my top favorite GTA games. Maybe because it was portable, maybe because it had Phil Collins, maybe because of the Empire system, maybe because Lance kino, it was just a lot of fun.

there was an 8-bit and later, 16-bit GTA parody that came out in the 10s; forgot the name but they were basically blenders of old NES and SNES game cliches mixed in with an overhead GTA 1-2 type playing style. Super edgy and basically parodied both old games and the GTA premise.

Both are OK for what they are; I bought both of them for the 3DS during the long drought where there was no open sandbox crime simulator games for the Nintendo eco-sphere.

I honestly didn't even knew Eddie Murphy could sing, let alone sing good, without the Diamond Casino trailer. I love this song cause of GTA V, but it always surprised me that this song wasn't on any of the 3D Era GTAs.

Party All the Time is an old shame song. It was routinely listed as one of the worst songs of the 80s in 80s retrospectives put out in the 1990s and 2000s, due to the song being a novelty hit and a case of the way you had celebrity actors cashing in on the rise of MTV to start music careers as a side hustle.

Stories for why the fuck PATT and the album it was on even existing in the first place, range from Eddie being pissy that Don Johnson was getting into music and wanted to top him with his own album of music to Eddie making it as part of a bet he had with Richard Pryor, who after finding out that Eddie COULD sing well in spite of having a character on SNL who sung horribly, made a bet that Eddie would not be able to make a full album of original music after no one in the music business initially believed Pryor when he told them that Eddie could actually sing quite well.

Cynical theory is that the female protagonist will be Tommy's daughter and there will be a lot of shit tossed around that Tommy was a crappy dad who didn't buy her the right pony for her birthday or didn't care about her because she was a girl. Maybe with a Game of Thrones type "Our fathers were horrible people but we their daughters will make this world a better place when we run it" spiel/theme to justify their getting into crime on the grounds that women can make for better and more ethical/benevolent crime bosses than their fathers were.

Edit: Ash R (part of the modding scene and supposed Rockstar insider) claims that The Box by Roddy Ricch, My Type by Saweetie and ZEZE by Kodak Black have been replaced with uncensored versions on the radio with the latest update. Apparently on PC they just added the files on top so both versions now play.

Ash has apparently been going on a spree the past month on twitter, going off about Take Twos remaster attempts (of note, VCS and subsequent remaster/mobile ports were cancelled after low sales of LCS and Bully mobile) as well as RDR2 patches/remasters and most recently how they think this latest article is written as bait, claiming that Cops n Crooks was cancelled years before George Floyd was killed only to discover it was actually cancelled twice lol

LCS is a fine port but Bully is a broken mess.
I think people can buy a VCS mobile port if take-two don't hire the fucks from War Drum Studios and only stick with Lucid Games.

Anyways...pickled up the definitive edition today because it was on sale....To be honest it's better than when it launched but still flawed. It's more playable now then when it was launched but still harsh on the eyes. 80s neon (as told by 2002's genx/boomer nostalgia) was never meant to be seen through HD upscaling and bloom on modern consoles. I mean if ever there was a time to course correct, SR crashing and burning because it wanted to be a 'safe' GTA is the perfect time and example of what not to do. I doubt it will change anything, but I doubt we'll be seeing an exclusive female protagonist at the very least.

I've some point out how there was a female GTA protagonist way back in the days of the series primordial era. back when the opening "cutscene" was a live action fmv filmed in new york though. At the time character and story was so minuscule compared to gameplay it really dint matter which character you played as.

I'd just personally find it hard to take a female protagonist seriously with how hard R* slants into realism these days. You play a burly dude in these games because you need to jack people out of cars, punch them out, and run for hours. You cam be a female protagonist in online but I dunno, shit just feels wrong to me.

If it's more cartoony and over the top it can work but I doubt that will be the case.
