Huh, I don't remember ever actually seeing that LCS trailer before.

It is kind of crazy how both Elder Scrolls and GTA series are being propped up for a decade+ on their online components.

R* knew how to make trailers back then with actual gameplay footage. Hearing Mobb Deep's menacing piano with the deafening beat meant you were entering a cruel underworld.
Trailers back in the day were kino. By 2010, things have gotten soulless as with most things in the world.

There's another one about its ad-hoc multiplayer.

I didn't know LCS/VCS even HAD multiplayer back then. Seems like a side project at best.
Multiplayer was going to be a component all the way in GTA III at least on the PC. Modder eventually made playable builds in VC and the most well known Multiplayer mods are for SA. I'll be honest, I'm a little upset at myself for never getting the PSP versions of the game. GTA Afterschool Multiplayer sessions would have been really kino with friends.

It'll wind up being like the Moon Landings and future Rockstar won't even be able to figure out how to recreate GTA San Andreas, much less a new one.

Yeah, i figured out way back when GTA 5 first came out that the stealth was total broken trash. And everybody just overlooked that because Rockstar. (Combine that broken wanted/stealth system with Red Dead 2's terrible wanted system and you see a pattern of Rockstar getting a free pass on awful gameplay because of the superficial things they're good at).

I always figured that running red lights was something that was programmed in and disabled because cops specifically squack their siren when you do it, but I had no idea that you holding weapons and not wearing helmets on bikes/motorcycles was also tracked but just disabled.

Really fucking weird that it wasn't even made a toggable option or something with the re-releases. There's always been a hardcore group of autists in the GTA community that wanted the game to be even more realistic/simulation like.

Don't get me started with frustration on doing I/E grinds because of intentional traffics to fuck with you.

But who's doing I/E in 2023 anyways? It's still in broken state and sometimes the mission gives you cars already owned and won't even source to warehouse at all.

How did they break I/E that bad?

That's how I earned my first like 20 million and I don't recall there ever being any weird glitches like that. It was just tedious as fuck using the Cargobob to avoid all the damage.

Of course that was still relatively "early" I guess, like 2016 or so?

Does one of the high end cars in I/E still have bulletproof windows or was R* too lazy to fix that?

Bringing back Friedlander was so dumb in my eyes. He wasn't exactly the most sympathetic character in the single player what with him constantly taking advantage of Michael. Having him come back for Online just makes his escape in the final session canon and I hate it.
The current GTAO writers seem to have a fucking hard-on for making all the possible choices a player could make have that canon one. Before GTAO none of the main story endings were canon, but they made it so that C is actually the canon choice. And now they are making this one choice of a single story mission canon, by making it so the annoying kike prick is actually alive.

I wouldn't be surprised if they went so far to make the Revenge ending of GTA IV canon in some very nauseatingly blunt way. Or even worse, making it so that Kate actually somehow survived and that Niko lived with her happily ever after. Just leave IV alone, it was a fantastically written game and the fact that both of it's endings are tragic in some way and it's up to the player to choose his tragedy is refreshing from all the super happy Hollywood endings like the C one in V.

Still, fuck Kate, Mallorie is a better woman and Roman is more important than some potato munching tramp. She would dump Niko after choosing Deal anyway.
I’m willing to argue that there is a big intersection between GTA and Yakuza fans. Difference is that Yakuza fans are not as attention seeking as GTA, since they can play different games that does not revolve around online play.
Funny that you say that, I initially picked up Yakuza 0 on a Steam sale thinking it would be like "Japanese GTA", then I realized it's something completely else, and then I ended up going through the entire franchise because I got this invested into that world.
I saw this for the first time on Monday:

Just the fact that I’ve been playing this game for years, yet I never knew about how there was a prequel to the start of the game just shows that I should be ashamed of myself.

Later next week, I’m taking out my Xbox so I can play this game again.
Yeah, not a lot of people know that San Andreas had a prequel of sorts, but rather than making full spin-off games on the PSP this time R* just made what is essentially a 20 minute cutscene explaining what was happening in Liberty City and San Andreas before the start of the game. I only wish all the resources used to make this got leaked and people modded the entirety of it into the 1.0 PC version.

I'm just surprised that they went with "Friedlander lives" as the canon choice, no one i know let him live on that mission

For all i can praise regarding GTA 4 and it's writing, Kate is not part of that. They tried to portray her as the innocent one that's unfairly affected by the shit all the people around her drag in, but she's so condescendingly righteous about it that it's a real put off. That would've been understandable if you were playing as Claude or Tommy Vercetti, who are the sociopathic monsters she bitches about, but with a character much more layered like Niko, her constant "So, how's your expendable life as a dumb brute going?" monologuing gets frustrating, all the more because Niko never really calls her out on it.

Ironically, Michelle/Karen had a much more interesting dynamic with Niko. There's a lot of untapped potential had they developed her as the love interest in the story

DSP will *hopefully* outlive another one again.

What do you mean? It was made with San Andreas assets I'm pretty sure.

The Introduction actually predates LCS and VCS btw. It was released along with the San Andreas soundtrack I think.
