You can play games from that long ago and still have a pretty good time (in fact I'd say you're more likely to have a good time playing a 22-18 year old game than a modern one). Even aside from how bodged the GTA "Definitive Edition" remasters last year were, they also unintentionally proved that these games didn't need to be remastered to begin with.Because GTA: Vice City and Scarface: The World Is Yours are 22 and 18 years old respectively and play and looks as such. Two decades ago is hardly modern.
On a personal level I'm honestly just sick to death of being beaten over the head with the 1980s. Stranger Things, Ready Player One, the virtually endless sequels, remakes and reboots of franchises from that decade, it's gotten beyond tiring. I totally understand why the decade is so well-loved, but we're at the point where we need to move on and do something new already. You can in fact have too much of a good thing.
I agree with you here. A reason I think Florida is a good choice is because of the diversity it could bring to the map design - the Everglades, the Florida Keys, that's a decent amount of variety for the non-Vice City areas right there. If they were feeling ambitious they could even include the Bahamas in some form.At the moment sticking to a single landmass has been boring.
