Any playthrough updates?

I got through Ravenholm. I stopped playing right before jumping in to the buggy to drive along the beach and fight "antlions"

So how i'm doing this is I play the game and I anytime I have a note or idea, I pause the game and write in a notebook with a pen, like pen and paper stuff, lmao. I have two full pages of notes on Ravenholm. It's too much for me to transcribe now so i'll do it tomorrow at some point.

There's some AI tools that're around like this that you might be able to use to make it easier, maybe, potentially (I've not really ever used these).

I played through HL1 again so I could experience it in 4K 100 Hz. It’s amazing how well this engine holds up. Quake bros can’t stop winning. The space levels aren’t bad. I like how weird they are. People who complain about them are low skill retards. With how well vanilla runs on modern hardware, not sure if Blacked Gaysa can justify its existence.

Ravenholm is probably my favorite of the maps. It has excellent creepy ambiance and Grigori rocks.
Funny, because Ravenholm is almost always a slog for me outside of Grigori. I think the real problem is I've played Half-Life 2 too much, I end up liking the chapters mostly everyone hates (prison/street wars)

Xen in HL1 sucks, I used to defend it but it just does, there's only like 3 good maps in Xen and outside of that you're just waiting for it to be over. If the factory levels were anywhere but the end it would probably end a couple of my playthroughs. Blue Shift has a way better Xen section.

The barrel section is insufferable

For me its the giant room with the teleporter at top and the spinning platforms, would be a nice final challenge in any other game but in HL it's just awful. Though that's mainly because of the controllers if anything.

say what you want about the original xen but black mesa's interpretation was awful

Only to a point, I'd say it was 80 percent great, minus ten for parts of interloper and minus another ten for not following the art direction of HL1, which was different but not bad.

BM interloper was so long and tedious i think my judgement of BM Xen is based only on interloper lol

Funny how Valve fanboys still, to the point of absolute derangement, obsess over this dead franchise that hasn't been great ever since the very first installment and its DLCs. HL2 with its episodes was a bad sequel and HLA has been so irrelevant outside the short window of hype directly after its release due to being a VR game it's not even funny.
