Harley Quinn - DC Universe Series - Verdict s̶t̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ I̶N̶. out again.

Yeah, as violent and “mature” as this series is, having your main character admit that they’ve raped and emotionally manipulated their closest friend would be a bit too dark.

They’ll probably make reference to Harley manipulating Ivy, but not go as a far as I have.

Speaking of that, I'm having a hard time sympathizing with Harley on this show. She had a whole season were she had Ivy in a silver platter were they could've dated, but instead, her obsession with Joker made her unable to appreciate her. And only Kiteman was truly able to appreciate Ivy.

The fact that she only made her move once Ivy was engaged, and tried to ruin her wedding out of her selfishness makes me unable to side with her. I can't believe I'm saying this for a c-list villain, but Kiteman deserved better than that. And so did Ivy.

Ultimately I do think Ivy and Harley will be together, but I hope they do make it work.

Gonna be honest, the show dropped the ball on the events leading up to the second bedroom scene. When the Queen said they were going to have a rager, I thought it would have been more funny if they just repeat the previous night but now with the Amazonians. They could get drunk, go back to the strip club, then end with Harley and Ivy in bed again. It also would have been able to lead to a funny bit where Ivy has a second Cob Squad tattoo on her right arm. It would also connect better as Mrs. Freeze took Zeus home.

I thought I was gonna hate this show, but I actually like it, even if it has its problems here and there. Also perhaps its the art style, but the level of gore just seems jarring to me, not that I didn't come into this not expecting gore, violence and swearing, etc.

Oh no, they went down the A Marriage Must Be Spontaneous and Full of Excitement path: the delusion of millennial women turning barren everywhere. I guess people forgot marriages were supposed to be for stability after all those divorces.

And they did it in such a heavy-handed way. I mean we've seen Kite Man be full of surprises and excitement. He attacks Aquamen (unsuccessfully) to protect her, he steals a unique leaf-shaped diamond to propose to her, I mean, he's Kite Man! Hell Yeah! I agree with you, to be clear, I'm just adding that he isn't even dull anyway. Yet suddenly there's lines of dialogue like "fancy going to spend six hours in front of the TV?"

I did love Mrs. Freeze pouncing on Maxi Zeus, though. There was a lot of humour in this episode.

My main issue with the show is that it wants to have its cake and eat it too -

Harley is a sympathetic quirky girl!, but she has been directly responsible for horrifying atrocities.

We're gritty and mature!, but Mr Freeze is going to go off on an actual, literal face to the camera rant about white privilege and cishet Caucasian men.

Glass ceiling in the Legion and everyone is sexist, but we're nonetheless open to all and pretend to be offended when WW gets called a cunt.

Moment by moment I enjoy the show and the gags (that shot of the kid losing faith in Batman had me rolling like a spastic log), but this clunky, kind of whiny writing between the lines is kind of distracting. It's well acted, just not as well written as it thinks.

I can't help thinking that if everything about the new episode were exactly the same, except the genders of Harley and Kiteman were reversed, the exact same social justards happy that Harley and Ivy "finally hooked up", would call what male Harley did to Ivy "rape" (and let's face it, by their definition of the word, it totally was.)

Ivy would probably also get some shit for cheating on her lesbian fiance with a man.

I kind of want to predict that based on the twists so far Harley is going to fuck up the wedding, something happens that makes her realise she is becoming like the Joker she gets sad and then voluntarily goes back to Arkham/Bane's pit to prevent herself from interfering with Ivy's marriage.

Or Dr psycho returns and accidentally kills kiteman.

The Season Finale is called "The Runaway Bridesmaid" implying that there will at least be an attempt at a marriage... which might be fucked up by Harley...
They are actually doing it.

Glad I never bothered to start watching, but it still pisses me off that they probably intended this all along.

All that's left to say is; Congratulations, DC! You built an audience only to "le troll" them, good one. Wish you luck building another one, when no one trusts or gives a shit about you.

It's always lesbians as well, good grief. I've said in this other threads, but let's see these people write an unconventionally attractive gay couple as their showrunner for a change.

Its all very young cutesy lesbians getting touted as progressive.

Sarah Silverman was more progressive before she actually became a progressive when The Sarah Silverman Program had two big fat nerdy looking redhead guys as their gay couple.

And only Kiteman was truly able to appreciate Ivy for who she was while Harley was just trying to impress Joker.

What. the. fuck.

What kind of show is this? I just got eerie Legend of Korra vibes.

Its weird that they spent so much time with Kite Man and building an interesting and compelling relationship with him and Ivy only to tear it all down so they can pull a surprise lesbians on the audience.
I really hope that's not gonna be the case.

I'm not reading the thread beyond what i did because i want to make my own opinion on it myself, all i will say is that is jarring to hear the swears, the violence and the deaths are quite more gruesome than i was prepared at first. It is different than previous capes tv shows but it's not bad because of it, of course a show focused on villains would go for a different approach.
I'll give my opinion on it later

Look forward to hearing it. This thread is spoiler-heavy so unless you keep an eye on post times and don't read ahead of when the episode was released, should probably be wary. I think you'll most enjoy the show. I have.

Finished Season 1 and liking it so far, low point was kids talking about sex and related stuff (i was raised in a prudish house so i can't help but cringe when that happened in the Bar-Mitzvah episode) and ther were a bunch of moments i really liked

I wonder how many seasons of this they are planning? They've killed a bunch of characters and Dr Phycho was my fav member of the main cast. I honestly cant see where they can take the series after this season.
