Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

Didn't they already have one of these when season 1 technically ended? Isn't this a bit soon to do when they only have one episode of season 2 out?
Helluva was initially meant to be more comedic and less serious than Hazbin, what with it being a spin-off, and yet here we are with plenty of drama having cropped up. It’s not something that I necessarily mind - Loo Loo Land is one of my favorite episodes.
Oh yeah, I liked Loo Loo Land enough. I was just confused at first when I first saw given how the show was supposed to be but it's not like it was bad. Probably because most of it was still a comedy and the more emotional stuff came at the beginning and the end.
I honestly changed my mind on Stolas BECAUSE of the episode. Before I thought he was a piece of shit for cheating on his wife, now I think he's a flawed and lonely person caught in a bad situation. Doesn't mean what he did was RIGHT, but...
My mind changed about Stolas too...of course for the opposite reason though. I thought he was enough of sympathetic person enough given the episode with his daughter. Now it just feels like there's no reason to atone for his mistakes because now there's reasons behind them.

TLDR: Viv can't
figure whether she wants funny episodic or serious serialization. She needs to make up her damn mind cause I can't tell anymore what is supposed to be funny and dark, or serious and depressing
Actually, you can have your show be darkly funny and episodic but then seamlessly turn into a serious, emotionally gripping story. Moral Orel and Llamas With Hats are great examples. Vivienne just doesn't have that deft of a writer's hand.

That is true, especially with Moral Orel. Though Moral Orel more serious stories didn't start until later seasons. And it felt more natural and took its time to lead into emotional beats. (Also it showed that everyone had faults and how those faults led to what happen.)
Viv, seems like she wants to hit all those emotional beats at once, without taking the time to get there. It's more impactful that way when the realization of what is truly going on has been revealed throughout the entire story instead of all being told at once.

So my theory of Viv being the sole writer of this episode was correct...sort of. In the credits, it says written by Viv but underneath that it has story by Viv, Brandon, and some other guy I don't remember the name of now. This is a bit odd since this is the first time that I've seen that as every episode previously had only "Written by" credits. Even in Season 1 episode seven which was just written by Viv.
I don't know if that means something...it just seems a bit weird. But it does explain why I didn't like these two episodes very much because Brandon wasn't there to add the humor I assume.

That makes sense to me, as a lot of people who said they liked this episode has Stolas being their favorite. I never really had a favorite character in this, as I more enjoyed the characters interaction with each other than anything.
He’s my favorite, but I agree that making Stella being an utter bitch her sole motivation is the wrong move if only because it limits what they can do with that conflict.

So I saw some reviews from a YouTuber that points out problems with the episodes. I wouldn't recommend watching them since they complain about offensive jokes, that characters are mean, and other stupid stuff like that. But some are worth bringing up like for example in episode 2:
I know many people like to bring that up as one of his good points and I know that he is trying, but he's really not. When he suggests going to Loo Loo Land, Octavia says she rather kill herself. And then Stolas says "There you go!"

Like...what? Lmao. This is why I mentioned earlier that Stolas is completely oblivious to how other people feel, even if it's quite obvious.

He also says some creepy and inappropriate shit around her too. Before he calls Blitzø for a bodyguard, he casually talks about how much he wants him to fuck him. You know...the guy that is ruining Octavia's view on her family's life right now.
When they get to Loo Loo Land, Stolas pretty much ignores Octavia, with his focus being on Blitz. And he didn't need Blitz as a bodyguard since he can just protect himself and his daughter. If he really wanted to spend time with his daughter, why even bring Blitzo? He only notices his daughter is upset when she runs away, crying.
Also another thing I noticed is that Octavia said that Stolas ruined their home. Not both of the parents. Which means that Stella didn't start all her screaming (at least in front of her daughter) until after the affair. And I know people will say that Octavia said "are you guys done screaming for that day?", which means this has been going for a while. But, we know that the cheating has been going on for a while now. Since the part of the pilot where the affair happened is canon, we now know that when Stella is yelling at Stolas for having an imp in their bed is not from that following morning. Episode 1 establishes that the affair happened and Stolas comes with an agreement that at least once a month they'll have sex. So Stella yelling that morning is from another time as she found them in their bed. That means this whole cheating has been going on for a couple of months at least. Octavia had enough time to get used to her parents arguing since then.
In that argument, Stolas said he didn't have enough time to get to a motel. Isn't he a demon prince with transportation abilities? Couldn't he just...literally transport Blitz and him to someplace else? We saw him doing that when he opened the galaxy up for Octavia. There's really no excuse he could do something similar for him and Blitz.

Not having enough time to get to a motel could just be a case of Blitzo jumping all over him and Stolas was too horny/into what was going on to take the time to teleport away. Not to mention Stolas would still need to actually book into a motel room, he couldn't just teleport into some random motel room and expect it to be empty for the night.

Having crazy red dick man jumping all over you may preclude you spending 15 minutes to setup getting a motel room.

Everything else you said or mentioned about Stella is why a lot of people held out "hope" for Stella to be somewhat more of a nuanced character since there was some evidence to suggest that she was not the primary instigator and that the negative circumstances surrounding the family (or at least Octavia) had their origin more in Stolas' infidelity while being tied to a (heavily implied) arranged marriage.

As others have said, this newest episode has done a lot to give Stolas sympathy for why he did what he did. But its accomplished this by painting Stella as a overtly one-dimensional and hostile character. Its possible that future episodes might try to balance out her portrayal, but at this junction that's feeling increasingly unlikely.

Also I personally don't want every single Helluva episode to be a drama filled escapade, we need some comedy centric episodes, which I am certain are coming.

Maybe this is just me sperging for nothing, but I can’t be the only one who dislikes how a lot of the demons are designed, right?

Don‘t get me wrong, characters like Stolas, the bird demons, the Hellhorses, Loona, Octavia, and the imps all look great (the imps are personally some of my favorite designs in the entire show), but most others are either hit or miss.

I‘m not into Demonology or any of that weird shit, but it personally bothers me that so much creativity is squandered when it comes to the higher-ups of Hell. What I mean by that is that the final designs either don’t make sense or only vaguely resemble their myth counterparts. Same goes for whatever they represent.

Ex. Stolas is a good example. His myth counterpart is literally just a tall owl with a crown, but the designers still managed to make a unique and creative design on their own while still calling back to the original (Stolas is tall/spindly, and he’s outfitted with royal garb and a crown).

Meanwhile you have characters like Asmodeus who just barely make the cut. I really hate what they did with his design; his counterpart is literally a three-headed king (a Bull head, a human head, and a ram head) with a rooster’s foot riding a fucking dragon. How badass is that? And yet in the show he’s just some vaguely birdlike humanoid. I get that he’s supposed to resemble a rooster, but you can barely see it. Honestly I couldn’t even tell if that was supposed to be him at first and only figured it out by the very tiny, only vaguely animal shaped heads on his mane.

Same with Andrealphus and Paimon;
Andrealphus is supposed to be a peacock (which isn’t even remotely noticeable in the show design, he looks like a Stolas recolor), and he’s illustrated as having literal eyes on his tail where the eye spots should be. Also, idk where tf Vivzie got the whole ice aesthetic from, he’s not described even once with being associated with snow. And Paimon is supposed to look like some fruity dude riding a camel, so idk where she got the whole “owl” look from either.

Maybe they can shapeshift into whatever form they please, but basically what I’m trying to say is that for a show full of crazy character designs, they sure didn‘t bother trying with some of the most ridiculous looking demons out there.

They still could’ve kept the pimp look with Asmodeus and the chilly look with Andrealphus, but overall it strikes me as the team either not doing their research or not caring at all (which I find odd considering the insane amount of detail they put into their characters, what with the accurate symbols and Stolas being associated with botany and astronomy).

I understand that some designs are harder to animate than others, but I don’t see that as an excuse anymore with how overdesigned many of Viv’s characters tend to be, and Helluva Boss is no exception to that.

The team does have this weird way of using some research and dismissing others. Like how imps are supposed to be able to shape shift but can't in the show because...I don't know. I've noticed others point things out like that that have much more knowledge on those sort of things than me. It has got me interested in learning more about the lore in real life of what Viv based her shows on. In the end, she's trying to make her character designs appealing to the audience's eyes. aka fuckable jk

That or they don't. Loona took a human form, but is a hellhound, not an imp, and so did Verosika and her crew, but Verosika is a succubus demon, not an imp. The wiki doesn't list transformation as a power of imps or of any particular imp. It doesn't say whether taking a disguise for topside is actually a transformation or just an illusion though.

I've seen the I.M.P. guys in human disguise in art posted by people from the show but the fact they haven't actually used them yet doesn't mean they can't. They've interacted in that form without anyone seeming to notice, too.

I read that imps do have powers of shape-shifting but I'm sure each source is different so I'm not one to be picky.
I'm more curious if all demons from the Ars Goetia are going to be different birds since that's the theme they appear to be going with. I can imagine some being easy to design since they were already described as being some sort of bird species. Wonder if will see any of them.

Some takeaways from the watch party. I myself haven't watched it yet, so there could be more.

So more drama, less comedy?
Oh yay...
I wonder if that means Viv is going to be solely writing the episodes from now on.
Wait a minute...so is episode 2 supposed to be the morning right after he yells "FACKING DIVORCE"? I thought it was from another day later on since episode 1 establish the transaction of sex for the book. Does that mean episode Season 1 Episode 1 happens after episode 2? Because then that makes even less sense.

I watched it, can confirm. Viv also said that the series will only get darker and she wants to explore more of the characters' demonic powers like she did with Stolas in episode 6. And apparently episode 2 is going to be all about Blitzo and Fizz going through puberty. (This last one may have been a joke but with Viv's crew it's hard to tell.)

Kind of a shame really, cuz the characters they’re using for the show honestly have some badass designs. We could’ve gotten some really cool shit.

The only thing that sounds cool would be the demonic powers.

But god this entire season is either going to be dreadful or a mixed bag if it's all just drama.
