Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
This is the next stage in the adblock arms race. Instead of pop ups and pop overs that say "turn your adblocker off" you just get CPU lock and a crashed browser or operating system. Google already slows down other browsers on purpose and gets away with it. So the next step is attacking specific extensions including ones for their own Chrome browser.
How the fuck is this legal? This could cause people's PCs to become damaged! :Update: Brave's built in adblock is working again for me on YouTube... wierd.

Not only does Brave block Youtube ads but also Amazon Prime Video ads as well.

Note the ad breaks in the timeline using Chrome.

And with Brave, voila, ads are gone.

I must admit, it surprises me that no one seems to have picked up on Youtube's next change. 1080p uploads have the 1080p "enhanced bitrate" option available if you pay your thirty pieces of silver. But 1440p, 4k, 8k videos are available in their original uploaded format. What will happen to those streams when the purse strings tighten?

YouTube seem to be switching up the times they update their script.

They updated it twice today, with the last time being just 4 hours ago, which is much later than they've ever done before.

It seems like they're not giving up on this shit any time soon.

I installed Freetube on all my Windows devices and ReVanced and RVX Music on my Android devices. Haven't missed using YouTube through a web browser one bit. Freetube is particularly nice because you don't have to see any of the vapid trash that gets fed to you on the front page through the algorithm when you're just trying to search for something.

FreeTube has been buggin out the last few days. API 400 errors where even if it defaults back to Invidious, the video won't even load. I've had an instance where it just blackscreened on me while it was playing a video. Another time it just straight-up crashed.

Their git on this issue is active, but their work around seems to be directing people to the nightly builds, which not only is more buggy, but doesn't solve the problem 100%

YouTube seems to be getting even more aggressive with their shit.

That's strange, in Freetube I get those API error messages appearing at the bottom, but then the video will play. Endless variation from person to person and system to system seems to be the name of the game.

Also, on the PC that I was getting the "Turn off your Adblocker" message on, YouTube proper is now loading fine, without any action on my part. Has that happened to anyone else?

FFS why that much incompetence?
Reminds me of how Drive randomly loses user data, and how Google has no real solution or fix.

I have also noticed that some YouTube videos don't appear in my watch history, but if I go to the channel it shows the red bar at the bottom indicating that I have in fact seen the video.

That's called A/B testing.

That's why I only use Google Drive for transferring files from one system to another.

And never personal stuff I do not want leaked at all, like financial or medical info.

As soon as i typed that, FreeTube got an update that fixes the API issue, so now it's all good. Although I have a feeling more of those updates are going to happen frequently due to YouTube getting more aggressive.

I'm getting that too. I think it's failing over from one method to another.
