Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I've done this (+ the logging out recommended above, clearing all cookies, restarting my computer...) and YouTube remains unusable for me. I really don't want to have to download every video I want to watch, nor go through some third-party app and have to mess with search and account history to do it.

Is anyone else still getting hit with this bs despite being on uBO 1.55?

Currently, the uBO filters have not been updated to deal with YouTube's latest script.

Once the top of this site turns green, if you update your quick fixes filters, you should be OK: -

You might also need to log out and clear your cookies again.

Brave still blocks ads reliably if you just want to switch browsers.

Brave on Android has worked for me throughout this whole round of YT shenanigans (though an occasional sponsored video shows up on the Homepage feed).

Main drawbacks are
- no sponsor block plug-ins
- can't access livechat while watching livestreams (so I assume you also can't superchat)
- liking comments is really clunky (opens a separate window)
- can't edit comments
- can't sort comments by "New"

I tried NewPipe for awhile, but found it clunky and unpolished enough that I ended up back on Brave.

Weirdly, I have had this flash and then it went and played the video anyway. Brave with uBO 1.54.0.

If you're still getting blocked by YouTube even after verifying the filters are updated, try disabling any other blockers. I.e. Brave will sometimes not work with YouTube if you have both Brave's adblocking and ublock Origin enabled. Just stick with ublock, will always be better.

I haven't had the popup in a while, but youtube has just had some slow as shit performance for me over the last couple of days. Trying to rule out if it's related to ad blockers.

Anyone experiencing shitty performance on youtube generally?

I have the past couple days. Restarted my browser and it worked but shortly after it's slow again. Cleared cache/cookies and it didn't do jackshit but make me waste time logging back in to my things.

I found an article on twatter x reporting jewtube rolling out slowdowns for adblockers on browsers. I then found a reddit thread that suggested using an extension for youtube called adskipper and so far it works, but it doesn't block banner ads just to get under the radar and avoid the hit like adblocker. It also needs to be told to "always allow on [website]" instead of only working when being clicked. I'm pretty sure it's not blocking tracking like adblocker does but until a better fix is discovered, I'm using it.

TL;DR it is the adblockers and jewtube can go fuck itself.

Yep, PCGamer confirmed that YouTube is intentionally throttling PCs that are running adblock on their site.

Have you tried revanced? It works excellently for me. The only things you need are the old vanced microG apk, the revanced app, and a YouTube apk version 18.38.44

It has sponsorblock built in as well

According to the developer who produces uBlock Origin, this is a function of AdBlock's shit broken code. I have to say, I've never seen any slowness with Mozilla/uBlock Origin/piHole

>Using AdBlock Plus in 2024

People are so retarded. YouTube is such a bloated piece of shit that wasting CPU cycles is a feature everyone can enjoy, premium or not. Use alternative frontends like Invidious and Piped.

That explains why some with youtube premium were still having issues. If it really is adblocker and not jewtube for once then I'm not that surprised. Adblocker tends to block too much stuff and won't be fixed unless reported or fixed yourself. It's like an amoeba.

It's adblocker's Kolkata code, not YouTube (for once).
I forgot I had adblocker plus installed and it all turned back to normal after getting rid of it.

I thought I was going nuts. My speed tests reported some slow download speeds so I thought my ISP was shitting itself, or my ethernet cords were going faulty.

I used to use YT Vanced as my primary on Android until it bricked after their C&D stopped support.

I spent a lot of time trying to get ReVanced installed but I kept getting a fatal error that my OS/device was simply too old.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I really miss Sponsor Block.

I was watching a video on Leslie jones, and she sounded like she huffed nitrous. (Even less funny than usual.)
The malicious part is they tell you to switch to chrome to "fix" the problem.
