>game will playable at gamescom 2025!
>it's literally the exact same fucking demo as the one from 2019
>exciting news for august 20!
>actually no, team cherry is gonna do their own gay announcement in 2 more days

At this point I'm fully expecting Silksong to not only be delayed again to February or something but also end up being absolute garbage that coping fanboys will swear up and down is "not that bad" until 1 year down the line when they finally admit that yeah, it's kinda shit.

It's honestly insane how much these guys have shat on their own fanbase and the latter just keep asking for more.
The game is not going to be bad, but it's going to be a 60-hour slog that very few people will have the patience to finish.

Just goes to show why publishers are necessary when creatives are involved.

There needs to be someone in the room that can demand the creatives keep to a schedule and complete their tasks, because otherwise they'll just keep iterating forever (or until the money runs out) and release a turd.
It's because of the retard meme that everything bad when it comes to video games is publishers stifling creative talent and while that might've been true in the past, it's certainly not now where developers are talentless hacks all on their own.

Speaking of which, I'm really curious what Team Cherry have been working on for the past 7 years because from what I've seen the game barely looks any different in the new demo videos.

EDIT: Read the interview article and yeah, they absolutely ran into development hell LMAO. They try to sugarcoat it with "we were just trying out new ideas" but if you read between the lines it's very clear they were having serious issues during development that they are too embarrassed to talk about.

The game will probably be really big. but I hope it's filled with a lot of optional and hidden content, and the "main" game is no longer than 20 hours.
Something like the bad ending for HK was perfect.

So how long after release do you think we gotta wait to get "real" review/opinions on the game. Full like there is gonna be a ton of ball washing and over hype click baiting with the usual couple of "this game sucks" to be a contrarian.
Synthetic Man is a cock-loving faggot but if he actually plays Silksong I unironically expect him to be one of the few willing to call out its flaws without ignoring its strengths.

That's the big question, it usually depends on how bad the game is and how high the expectations will be. Looking at the trailer, it's pretty generic, the game will need to do pull some tricks to make it more than a safe rehash.

At this point I would take a rehash with a different move set from the main character. Well, depending on the price.

I'm fine with a rehash as long as it's a quality one. Samey sequels are a problem when they are yearly (and at the cost of polish), not so much when it's been so damn long. I've played some metroidvanias like metroid dread, blasphemous, axiom verge or Blade Chimera and they ere fine, but nowhere near hollow knight and I'm ready for a quality one to drop.

Buuuut

Want a week or 2 to pass on release to get a decent litmus test of what we are dealing with. I do hope for half the game to basically be secrets you stumble into since that's the real shit I love from FromSoft games and loved in Hollow Knight.

I'm pretty sick of Metroidvanias. One of the most oversaturated genres in gaming with rarer and rarer new stuff to pull. I would be really surprised if HK2 does anything new that isn't a bog standard traversal mechanic.

Don't care, still want a quality one. There is an obscene difference between a competent game and a well polished one even if it's an overplayed genre. Also, I don't give a ahit there are 500 crappy metroidvanias, I've played like 5-6 in the last 7 years, so I'm not burned out on the genre as much as I did with RPGs, so I should be able to enjoy it more in the short term.

A part of me wants to really play Expedition 33 but another one of mine just wants to let RPGs rest a bit longer after I bounced of Lost Odyssey and was left dissapointed by Kuro. But after blasphemous, I'm keen on playing a metroidvania that doesn't feel like I'm wrestling with the controller.

This is all assuming the game is good though. Dust still needs to settle on that. Like I said, I want a very good metroidvania, not a competent one.

Aw man guys i can't wait to UNLOCK DOUBLE JUMP and then UNLOCK AIR DASH and maybe even UNLOCK GRAPPLE POINTS after that! The great thing about metroidvanias is that every single game is totally unique!

Hollow knight was not a unique game either, it never introduced anything brand new, was simply flawlessly executed.
It ain't really a bad thing, multiple genres like shoot em up, beat em ups, fighting games, fps, open world and titles, soulslikes jrpgs at the end of the day lacks in diversity, it has less to do with the main mechanic and more how they are used.
