I wonder how the difficulty will be in Silksong? I think Hollow Knight hit that sweet spot between healthily challenging without falling into the "haha dark souls omg this is the hardest game teehee" cancer. And the real ball busting parts of the game were optional and a fun challenge for the savvy gamer.

More movement tech might be a double edged sword if it's abusable, but it could also add a depth to the combat that HK didn't really have. That's what I'm looking forward to.
But if they just throw shit at a wall and make it retardedly difficult just because of the souls meme, then I'd be disappointed... Just as much as I would be disappointed if they make the game trivial because a legion of redditors who didn't even play HK made it too big to fail.

Time will tell. I'm glad that I didn't hold my breath for this game, I don't exactly have 7 years worth of dev time expectations on it either, but I reckon it'll be a good game.

At least 7 games have delayed release due to silksong.
Additionally, no review code will be given so journos won't get early access, not sure if its because of a based "fuck jorunos" mentality or because the game is actually shit and they don't want to reveal it.

The interview done with this gigakike paints the situation as if the game took this long to be made because the devs couldn't stop having fun working at the game, could easily be the opposite.
7 days until the release date, the internet, various gaming outlets and corporates is surely waiting with more or less impatience for the outcome, this can easily come out as the videogame game blunder of the century (game is not good), the largest nothingburger in gaming history (game is mid) or the day a 2d metroidvania put to shame the whole triple A corpo machine (game actually delivers).

I’m replaying Hollow Knight at the moment and there is so much polish to this game, especially at the start. There’s a lovely little moment of ‘show not tell’ where there’s a breakable wall behind a Geo node, the player is obviously going to attack the node which will also bring down the wall. Such a small thing to add but it was nice.

I have hope for Silksong, I think it will be great. I will eat my hat if I am wrong.

Extremely skeptical of the reasoning for the lack of review copy releases. They could chose youtubers and smaller gaming outlets and fuck over the j*urnalist parasites while at the same time allowing for people to get a preview. We will see.

I am a little skeptical too because of both that "no review copy", and the interview being TL;DRed into "we had too much fun working on it", even regardless of the game demos have getting positive reception. I refuse to belive that nothing weird happened during all these years.
It will be good. The first game was good. It's not that complicated.
There's an history of great games having shit sequels, it wouldn't be the first case if this too was a failure.

I'm like 85% sure that it's gonna be mid. Releasing the game almost by surprise and not even giving review codes to anybody screams "this has taken way too long and we just want to be done with it now"

I wonder if you have that yarn forcefield ability, or you get the sewing needle ability. I wanna see what stuff you collect, hopefully new vendors too.

I enjoyed playing Hollow Knight, but I never really bothered to finnish it, I watched some gameplay and I was close to one of the endings. One thing that has been on my mind was the /v post about how reddit catering the design was, the baby-sounds (teletubbies tier for manchildren), choice of having a cartoon style et cet. The OST sounding like a Native Instruments Komplete demo pack makes me think the game is overhyped, since people on the Internet constantly uses it for their essay videos and praises it for being good, but it's mediocre as fuck (it's still comfy tho).

Wonder if the release after 6 years is due to the devs just being lazy. Come on, it's a 2D cartoon platformer, can't be that much work when you already got the base game.

If the devs were having fun with it and taking their time then I'm betting it'll be good.

Everything in hollow knight and silksong is frame by frame animated, which itself takes up an insane amount of time as opposed to using tweens for your animation. Then there's the rest of the game you gotta figure out as well. They simply shouldn't have announced the game so early into the development. I thought it was some sort of pipe dream for a while that'd never come true.

Hollow knight was a fun 2d game, but I don't understand the absurd support for it though. Is it just something that got big because of suspense and peoples expectations with how long it's taking?

I'm hoping it's because the devs have severe autism and are more focused on developing a good game than appeasing marketing faggots (scum of the earth)
The game is going to be great :optimistic:
