It's up against some slop games and like one or two serious contenders, so you know the slop will win the game awards before SilkSong does. :sigh:

Supposedly the host of the Game Awards was visibly seething that Team Cherry wouldn't go to their gay event. I can't find a clip of it, does anyone have it?

I finished Bilewater and Groal and I have to say it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. I beat GMS with only Bilewater, Putrefied Ducts (I got in here for that one quest but died and couldn't go back in), The Mist, and the green area right of Greymoore unfound and right now I'm going to find all the extra areas and stuff I missed before I go into Act 3.

Honestly barring the repeating gauntlet at the beginning, Groal felt like every other boss to me. I usually die a few times before I can learn all the attacks but after that I can usually beat a boss in a couple tries. The boss that took me the most tries was the first Savage Beastfly.
Groal's attacks are pretty basic and the most troublesome one was when he arbitrarily decides to jump into the water. I realized that the clawline + the occasional pogo was the best way to go and when I realized that he went down in three attempts. For the last phase I spammed cogflies and popped lifeblood needles. He actually got me down to one mask right when I dealt the final blow.

Then again, I found the hidden bench in Bilewater and had a level 4 needle so that probably helped a great deal.

Also let me just say this game is genuinely amazing and it was absolutely worth the wait. Team Cherry did a really good job on this.

EDIT:
About an hour into Act 3 now. I totally understand why the game took as long as long as it did but because holy fuck did they go all out.

Groal is easy, the real issue is that people that can't manage stress gets scared by the idea of having to repeat the whole runback, so they underperform and die.
In my steel soul run, I was eaten in the end and my cracked maks broke the moment I dealt the final hit, felt like a pretty epic conclusion to that fight.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone online talk about the lyrics to the song Sherma sings. Not even the wiki...

forget that

Silksong DLC teaser just dropped! :woo:

You know, what kinda makers me sad about the concept of DLC is that the new content almost by definition cannot be discovered 'organically'. When I played Silksong, one of my favorite aspects was the act of constantly exploring new areas in an ever expanding map. Like I'd be 40 hours in and still finding brand new whole-ass areas. Excited for the DLC but it's too bad that I won't experience that again.

Anyway, here's a badass map I found.

Very cool, though it is missing all but one weavenest and everything from act 3. Obviously, missing act 3 areas is fine, but the other weavenests are act 2 content.

Here I thought Silk Song would have protracted DLC since it came out with so much.

How the heck do you add more to this?

i still havnt beaten act 3 because i got so mad at the faggot bosses it forces you to beat, does anyone know if the newer patches nerf some of those bosses? would be good to download the latest version once the dlc drops to beat the game finally and see the new dlc areas, hope there is a lot of platforming segments that are harder than the base game ones i would love an extended cog core or path to the surface that makes use of the unique movement more. from the name it sounds like it will be like the king crab fight with it taking place under water, i think it would be cool if they make the dlc start out in a coast somewhere at the edge of the map where you then descend into the depths of the sea.

I think the way the original HK did DLC was pretty good, with the Troupe, boss updates and new dream bosses feeling like they were always a part of the main game. The Boss rush area felt more disconnected, but it worked since it was so "gamey", it was almost a different game mode.
But I usually don't enjoy new DLC areas in these types of games, since they end up feeling "tacked on". From the description it seems like it will be the later, which is a bit disappointing tbh.

Also, I'm curious to see if/how they can even push the game mechanics farther for new boss fights. I feel like Lost Lace, Tormented Trobbio and Karmelita are as close to "perfect" as this gameplay allows them to be.

I kind of wish the Pantheon was in a separate mode you could just boot from the menu instead of having to run all the way through the sewers to dream nail the godseeker any time you wanted to do a boss rush.

Team Cherry touched on integrating the DLC in an interview from a few weeks ago. Hollow Knight didn't add any new maps in DLC (not counting Godhome), so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

The alchemist in Wormways talks about the ocean ("Plasmium was discovered by my master at the farthest edge of Pharloom, hidden deep in salt-stricken waters"). And you had some of the weaver lore tablets saying stuff about salt and water, which I still have no idea what that means. Those went nowhere in the base game, but maybe they'll flow naturally into the new stuff from the perspective of a new player. Like finding Verdania and Voltnest 20 hours after Memorium gives you a small hint at their existence.
King Crab better come back with a real boss fight too, because that fight at the top of the tower was a joke.

The green princes are optional. :tomgirl:
