Horrifying Things That Are Viewed As Normal

This bothers me too. I don't expect anyone to be geniuses or intellectuals, but you don't have to be those things to enjoy learning or thinking. It's almost like a lot of these people could have been born as farm animals and it wouldn't make any difference. It feels like a waste of your humanity to just live like an automaton. I get that being too detached from everyday life isn't good either, but it doesn't hurt to balance it out with intellectual curiosity and learning.
You’re dealing with the backlash against intelligence that has always existed. You’d think it would have faded, as we ascended to a tech based society vs strictly manual labor, but it hasn’t.

There is a huge negative pushback against intellectualism in most communities.

Black on black violence is normal, and it's white supremacy to notice.

Men with wigs and mascara should be teaching little kids how to masturbate and that they might be in the wrong body, without parental knowledge.

Fags are normal and healthy, butt sex is fun and if you don't eat ass, you're a prude.

It's okay to rent women to birth your old egg/old sperm retard/autist even if you won't be around to care for it/him/she/they.

I'm almost ready to 86 myself but it's all so entertaining.

One other thing that I realize horrifies me, and it really does when I think about it, is how people don't want to really fix our sociopolitical problems. Every solution is a hodgepodge of scapegoats and band-aids.

I'll share one quick expedient example of what I mean. Take how both the left and right blame video games (scapegoat) as a source of societal ills for different reasons. The left accuses them of encouraging sexism. The right accuses them of encouraging violence. What makes it worse is they both think that just banning or censoring video games (band-aids) is going to make these problems go away. Naturally, doing this never works. There are myriads of other real-life problems that either barely acknowledged or ignored altogether.

Why do these activists and their allies do this shit? There are a variety of reasons: narcissism, corruption, and stupidity among others. It would be too easy, too obvious, to fix the real reasons for sexism and violence existing, but then that wouldn't give any activists, politicians, and celebrities any validation or influence if they actually fixed the problems! Then again, since most people are too busy consuming, fighting, and ignoring the world around them anyway, they can keep the vicious cycle going and no one cares.

It horrifies me because sometimes it feels like when you actually want to do good in the world, your efforts are shot down or even downright meaningless because "the people" and the assholes who wrangle them don't care one way or another either.
I noticed an example about this that really fucks with my head, gun control to fix mass shootings (specifically in schools). Inevitably whenever there's a school shooting people talk about gun bans to protect the children, but the real issue that's never ever brought up is why the fuck do so many of our children want to murder their peers. Even if you somehow managed to permanently remove every gun from the US you'd still have all these broken people seething with bloodlust. And that's just fine apparently, no issue there. Don't pay any mind to the fact that our system is producing murderous sociopaths at an unprecedented rate, it's certainly not indicative that the system as a whole is broken. Absolutely blows my mind.

There is a serious problem with modern education and that's people are Taught, they are not taught about how to Learn.

And I think that reflects poorly on the education system more than anything else, it takes kids with a natural joy and curiosity sits them down and mechanically teaches them in a linear fashion and penalises them if they show any interest in a topic that goes outside the scope of the lesson and breaks that love in them so much they become dismissive if not outright hostile to education and independent learning.

Before WW2 education used to happen till you where 11 or 12 years old you where taught the basics of Reading, Writing, Math's, Basic Science and some physical trade skills and then sent out into the world to find a job where you'd be expected to want to learn to advance yourself beyond the guy who sweeps the floor.

Before that in the Master and Apprentice system you couldn't get to be an apprentice without knowing Basic Maths and how to read and write and the master would teach you the trade but you where also expected to educate yourself along the way and it wasn't uncommon that if a student showed a particular aptitude in a set of skills that another master had and the current one didn't they would arrange a swap to enable that natural skill or talent.

Now the system seems to be designed to break you down and discourage independent learning as that might put you in a position that can't be pre designed and you educated to that point and no more.

belly button piercings. not that i don't think they look good or anything, i just can't stand the thought of someone piercing the inside of mine with something sharp.

not afraid of needles either, my belly button has just always been sensitive
Navel piercings are the piercings most prone to infection. That part of the body is already prone to yeast infections if you have a deep one.

I always wanted to murder my elementary school peers. We even had a song about it.

Hi ho hi ho, it's off to school we go!

With razor blades and hand grenades, hi ho!

Hi ho, hi ho! [repeat]
Oh, we always sang fucked up songs about what we wanted to do to the pricks at school.

"Joy to the world/(Bully's name)'s dead/
I barbecued his head!"

"What happened to his body?/I flushed it down the potty/around and around it goes/like a bowl of Cheerios/a-round and a-round and a-round it goes!"

It's a trend now on news to disclose race. EXCEPT when the suspect is Black. No matter how serious the crime is.

I don't watch TV anymore personally but my family does so every time I go visit for a few days I get to see the shit that is on TV these days. Pretty much anything that portrays blacks in a negative light will never be seen on TV (or youtube anymore, all those old dindu videos are long gone), also if there is a couple in a commercial you can bet they are going to be interracial, and it's usually a black guy with a white woman. Though I am surprised they haven't started putting tranny couples in commercials yet.

I don't even OWN a TV anymore. All my news comes from the Internet. Again, it's a trend now for race to be mentioned EXCEPT when it goes against an agenda.

High school is hell, but y'all need help.

Yea I'm in the same boat, it shocks me just how bad TV's gotten even in the last few years - I've not owned a TV in 10+ years at this point but when I am with friends or family or in the common area and I see what passes for news and entertainment I'm glad I don't watch it.

You need better schooling.

Thanks for catching that, I've gone back and fixed it I've no idea why but the FireFox spell checker has been a nightmare lately.
