Horrifying Things That Are Viewed As Normal

getting drunk off pure vodka/whiskey/rum. ew.
For real, this shit almost killed me a few times years ago. It's all fun and games until you need a fifth or a handle per day to not have a seizure (thankfully I stopped before it got to this point).

Already mentioned but people's learned helplessness regarding literally everything regardless how simple. I've been viewed as some sort of dark wizard for being able to change out a wall mounted light fixture, literally a job of matching wire colors and twisting them together and sticking plastic caps on.

Also the way people's leasure activities trend towards activities where they're sitting still, not moving and not engaged. Even boardgames (or any other stationary activity involving engagement) or basic socialization get thrown to the wayside to enable more mindless media consumption, and there's barely ever any drive for people to discuss the media they consume.

This wasn't even high school, dude. This was like 4th and 5th grade. This was the age when you're just discovering edgy humor.

I dunno if you've noticed, but kids are more than capable of being assholes.

Seriously agree. If you were in that age group there's no way you didn't hear that song at least once if you grew up in the 90s.

Blacks gangbanging, abandoning their children, doing drugs etc. and being rewarded for it.
This has always bothered me about the USA. I'm not gonna pretend like I know everything about 'muhrican society and politics since I'm europoor and all that jazz, but I swear that many americans think that black people are well and adjusted members of society, but when you look at black neighbourhoods that's not the case at all. I feel like the whole "black people are always dumb" "argument" that racists use comes from the fact that absolutely nobody bothers to actually improve black neighbourhoods at all, which is what leads to them treating absolutely barbaric things like gangbangs and stealing and smoking way too many drugs as something that's cool and respectful and should be done by any african-american. Did they just expect that african-american communities will find a way to fix themselves after abolishing slavery and collectively agreeing that racism is a big no-no?

The rampant sexualization of girls (<13) in Hispanic communities is pretty horrific imo

Big Corn. Monsanto owning and perfecting the “Terminator Gene”(though they say they won’t use it 🌈 ) The fact that Environmental Protection Agency data show that in some Corn Belt communities, atrazine levels can spike three to seven times above the legal limit in late spring and early summer. But by avoiding water testing during peak periods, some water utilities stay in compliance with drinking water regulations – and don’t have to tell customers they were exposed to a hazardous chemical in their tap water.

The public being subjected to a barrage of disinformation in an attempt to force them to give up trying to find the truth and just accept whatever they are told.

I've read that blacks that try being civilised gets bullied and discouraged from it, so yea. It's a collective mindset of simply refusing to improve themselves.

How physical books are being replaced with electronic works that will either delete or have works filled with numerous typos that do not get proofread before being available

Then, you have the whole idea of religion being replaced not just with consumerism and political ideology, but also rampant amounts of being a doormat to illegal aliens/refugees and minorities that thrive off of only existing due to identity politics (transgenders, blacks, gays, the #MeToo movement, etc.)

You can probably add food to that too. The amount of wasted bread, meat etc. that is thrown at the end of the day by fast food places, restaurants etc. could probably feed the homeless at no extra cost to the government.
And if people were willing to overlook a non-zero amount of people dying from eating reject food.

Anything important I keep physical versions of, there are a lot of books on a few topic you wouldnt expect that various governments / interested parties would love to see just disperser and also use it to play into whatever the current ideology is.

Mass surveillance as a result of digital revolution.

It's been the wet dream of dictators and authoritarians since time immemorial to have this level of access to peoples thoughts, and people have sleep walked into it and begged for more.

You know one thing I've thought of that would fit here, the lack of care people have these days about being dressed or there personal appearance in general.

The standard used to be Look your best, your clothing might not be fashionable but it can be maintained, clean and ironed, you'd wash before going out and make your hair look presentable.

Today people just throw on whatever branded crap they have often cheap (but bought at a premium because of the brand name), and are ill fitting and often bought to look like shit with artificial rips and tears in them and have dirty shoes.

I'm not talking about this just being a Off day it's just a habit they have and I think this is horrifying because I think this reflects on a general social malaise that's been working it's way through society for the last few decades, when people don't feel like part of something like they are something bigger and think even subconsciously "We'll everything around me's shit why should I bother" it's a silent barometer of a society's health.
