Well as I'm sure alot of y'all here were aware there was the "first season" which ended with the tournament "here racehorses transcend" which ended with the GOAT jovial Merryment, vanishing into the darkness....
Well since then there has been a short lived spinoff
Paradise fishing
Which was a week long series after the tournament that featured 6 fish and a rock (my nigga) swimming to avoid a hook and be caught.
After this the
second season began which was basketball themed and had a somewhat shorter run time where they duked it out in 3v3s until one of the teams qualified for the "Eastern conference"
Where the old evil horses reappeared with a mysterious new leader
Also knifemare just went missing mid season.
After the basketball there was
OVA 1 and
OVA 2 vessel and party respectively, both of which were said to be non canon by the creator, and mostly were just down for live events he was invited to be at.
Then there was the secretive third season that was originally posted on Billibilli and rednote and is Chinese bootleg themed! Featuring a new cast of horses! Called "
Fuzao's adventure"
Where the brownish horse Fuzao faces tragedy in mainland China as they face terrible racing conditions and put their life on the line, a much less ambiguous storyline than the first 2 seasons, and I enjoyed it massively when it was finally "found"
And then there comes "
Horse Race Test World Tournament" where both sets of horses have come together in a pseudo 4th season, to race each other in another winner and losers bracket style competition. Of which is currently still ongoing/ on hiatus.
As a steam release for the "game" is being worked on right called "
Horse Race Tests: Life is Pain"
And is currently aiming for a June release date for extreme early access... But is subject to change iirc,
And in the time since WORLD has been on hold
OVA 3 was released to tide people over a bit and appease some fans
Which is also non canon for now, but features classic jovial Merryment racing a bunch of freak horses...
But that's currently the state of things! I've really enjoyed keeping up with it passively, as it's been a fun little thing to watch but less slop like than other contemporaries like Earclacks.
The guy is genuinely just some weirdo who posts very experimental art shit and got lucky enough to strike some gold so it's been cool to see a true indie kinda just rough itself out instead of going for corpo slop and turn into some big thing, far as I can tell the guy has purposely kneecapped it to keep it niche.
