Lapsang Souchong. Lovely smoky flavored green tea. Unobtainable in the ultra-caucasian area where I live. Oolong is a very inadequate substitute.

If you have a local tea shop that has Russian caravan and mixes their own then they have it whether or not they sell it by itself, and might sell it if you asked.

My favorite hot teas are Bigelow's Constant Comment and Lemon Lift.

I only drink tea when my throat hurts. And only because hot water would be too bland. I generally get sick of it halfway though a single cup. Only for the relief.

I'm thinking of picking up tea to replace my 16 hour a day caffeine drip. Google says Yerba Mate is the most caffeinated. Any tips of getting into it and maybe successfully replacing soda?

I typically like English tea with half & half. Get a good kettle to boil water. Twinnings is alright.

Look up Indian tea, it has milk and cinnamon and tastes better than traditional teas. You can also make pine needle tea with any pine you find outside except the Norfolk pine tree.

Yerba Mate has too much sugar for me. I can only recommend southern sweet tea a la https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAwr9iAXb3k
But I like plain black tea. Matcha has a pretty good amount of caffeine, if i remember correctly, but it tastes exactly like grass.
Orange pekoe and black cut tea is super popular in my hometown, Tetly British blend is pretty good, but probably my favorite is earl grey loose tea or assam black tea.

Yerba Mate is great and has some other alkaloids that make it a bit more calming than coffee. It is a whole preperation though. if you can get it in fresh form in Serbia or whatever then I'd recommend it but if not fresh maybe it is not worth it. tea generall though I've found much less agitating than coffee. If you get it the preparation is important, don't skim on the dose, make sure you heat it for the recommended time. IF you have access to coca tea bags (used to be sold on amazon lmao not anymore) then that is probably the best thing though, nothing like snorting cocaine and a nice stimulant but if you can access fresh(ish) product I'd highly recommend yerba over coffee or whatever.

Most tea is shit except for sweet tea and long island iced tea. Drink sweet tea in the morning and long island iced tea in the noon. You can also make hot toddies to help go to bed. Just mix in honey into the tea with whiskey, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

Yerba Mate is the Jolt cola of teas, caffeine and taste-wise.

I have nothing else to add, I'm a quart low on black coffee and still have work to do.

If you end up trying oolong and liking it, Bigelow makes an excellent oolong and jasmine green tea blend under their Steep brand.

Also, london fogs are great. Strong earl grey, 50/50 water and milk, vanilla, and just enough sugar or syrup to make it balanced but not cloying (unless you like your tea super sweet, then you do you). It's just slightly fancier milk tea, but it's very pleasant.

When I gave up soda I couldn't replace it with a hot drink - bubbles are life - I found that sparkling water was the easiest switch out and you can get it anywhere and no prep involved. Staying hydrated is a cliche but actually does help keep your brain awake.

Same thing when I cut back on coffee - I had to replace it with another hot satisfying drink - so I got instant miso and started having that after my morning coffee. Throw some spring onion on top and it's a great way to keep a fast going till the afternoon each day as well.

Personally I could never give up coffee completely but down to 1 or 2 cups a day seems sane imo.

I can't put that much cream in anything. I need something I can drink basically continuously without too many calories. It's why I can't drink coffee to replace soda. I'd go through a liter of milk a day.

You will have to experiment with different blends and additions to see what you enjoy and what works. Tea is nice for its versatility, you can have teas for focusing and for energy, or for relaxing and winding down. For me it’s basic straight Earl Grey.

If you don’t want to be adding cream, I’d try the Earl or Lady Grey, they’re not meant to have milk or cream.
