"Why thank you, this is much better!"

Anyway, jokes aside. Good luck to you!

I hate going to my mom’s because it consists of her and my grandma stressing over getting things ready for a couple hours while I sit on my phone; then my mom tries small talk with me because, while she undoubtedly lives me, she has limited interest about my interests compared to my sisters. Going to my dad’s is less stressful, but I’ve been declared estranged by my sisters alongside our mom.

Im so fucking busy these days, I found out work takes the fourth for holiday yesterday, instead of going camping with my friends, im staying home alone (im going to join them for the weekend tomorrow). I need a breather, all of my weekends past and future are booked.

Fixed my shitty pellet grill and am cooking weird brats from the local butchers. Gonna hop on the yamaha for the fireworks shows all around.

I love this fag nation.

You know what might make that time go faster? It might even reduce their stress/your potential boredom. Offer to help. Seriously, even doing something simple no-skill stuff like sweeping up, helping carry stuff, that sort of thing can make time fly. When working on big housekeeping/entertainment tasks, help is always welcome. Don't say you don't know how to do it, ask them to show you. I'm serious about this. It could result in improved relationships for everyone.

I know I'm a cranky old bitch but this needed to be pointed out.

If it were tasks that needed to be done, I would already have helped out. I get it: with this type of situation usually helping out is the obvious, if overlooked solution. The issue is that it is minutia that either doesn’t actually matter (i.e. posturing for family who don’t care) or it’s tasks that they insist on handling on their own. The fact of the matter is they manage to, through stressing themselves out, accomplish fifteen minutes of work for every hour they spend fussing over things like where food will be placed and completely reorganizing from scratch when it ends up being a buffet self-serve on the stovetop anyway. To contrast, her husband got twice as much done and he didn’t even start until an hour in.

tl;dr I’m not so self-absorbed I don’t know the difference between someone being overwhelmed with work and someone stressing herself out because she wants to be stressed.

My glasses got run over by a car because im a stupid nigger
Damn, I'm sorry dude. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses. Years ago I was being a retard and broke a pair. It sucked having to wait to get an appointment, then more waiting for the glasses to come in. It was a rough 2 weeks. From that I've learned to always keep a backup pair.

I noticed a while ago that the gutters on my house were growing grass. I figured I'd try and mow it. Then I decided getting the mower on the roof might be a problem. So I spent some time with my ladder and a stick and a hose clearing them out. Normal people apparently do it from the roof, but I'm not a roof person. My usual method is wait for rain, wait for the downspout to clog and pull out the leaves a couple times until they flush themselves but I felt the grass made it look more trashy than usual.

Tomorrow...packaging more trash for my quarterly trip to the dump. We have garbage pickup but over time I accumulate bigger trash from construction, etc. Thus an exciting trip next week. Also might go for a walk in the local park that gets trashed on holidays and pick up a bit.

So, basically, a nice boring 4th, if a bit messy.

I luckily dont need them to read n shit but it sucks, I took really good care of these. I will swear by polycarbonate lenses tho, they have some marks now but Im wearing them and it isnt bad. Frame is blasted tho, only one arm left I had to bend back into place. Prob gonna get my prescription from my eye doctor and buy cheap pairs on zeni. Ill just use these when Im watching shit at home until I get the new pair

I got almost 7 hours of sleep last night. Not quite in a row, but close enough. Fantastic. Now I just need to start before 4 am.

So fairly good start. And then.

I've had a project going for weeks to get all my clothes pared down, cleaned, pressed, sorted, organized. I'm down to the last 5 baskets of things to fold/iron/hang. Walk into my closet an hour ago (walk-in, with built-in shelves for hanging clothes, folded clothes, shoes, etc. - this is relevant) looking for hangers so I can deal with at least one basket today as I chip away at my project.

The 14' top-level clothes hanging shelf had pulled out of the wall and collapsed onto the floor, along with idk maybe 300* items on hangers I've spent weeks painstakingly washing, ironing, hanging, and roygbiv'ing.

* I'm your mom's age, I like clothes, I don't get rid of much, and once upon a time I had to dress up for work.

Gathered up the fallen clothes & started hauling them to another room to hang, thinking about wtf do I call for this.

While clearing out the closet I'm coming across random items on the floor that feel damp. Closer look at the wall that the shelf had been on and see it's totally bowed out, bad enough it has bowed out a (light) metal vent in the wall as well. (Couldn't see any of this previously bc clothes were in front.)

So now I'm thinking I've got a long-term and bad water leak and probably structural damage, and that this is going to involve serious construction, not just a handyman to re-install the shelf/patch the drywall. And piecing together other water-related issues over the last few years, I think this is bigger even than major damage in this one area, possibly enormous.

FUCK ME.
