How did you find out Phil in the first place?

Found out about Phil through Cloud8745X (Or whatever his name was, tryhard Let's Player on YouTube trying to copy UltraJman) posting a link to a DSP video and I kinda just watched it dumbfounded, wondering how someone could be so horribly bad at videogames.


Saw that, then kinda forgot about DSP for a few years and when I joined twitter I remembered he was around again and started talking to the "detractors" and whatever
 
I got to know Phill years ago when a friend who told me about his streams, I actually became friends with Phill and I watched a lot of his streams, talked a lot to him. Gifted him a couple games, I was his friend until he tried to Screw me over and out of my money that was the end of it. The same friend who I know in person btw. because she lives 2 doors down from me is now against him for very good reasons of her own. There is more to tell about this but all in due time. She knows even more about Phill then I even do.

I discovered Phil watching one the This is How You DON'T Play of Demon's Souls. Bit baffled at how bad he was and how he acted like my then-eight year old cousin, after that followed along and was laughing ever since.

Retsupurae's video either that or the encyclopedia dramatica article it was while ago and I thought it was a joke until I looked into it.
 

Then very quickly caught myself up to his current shenanigans, which at the time was Homefront review hysteria. In a way I wish I hadn't. Phil's place in my mind is a little like that of a deadbeat relative, or a former high-school friend who peaked in life back when you two knew each other. Always using his small measure of control over your altruism, or your morbid curiosity, or your sentimental feeling to feast on your resources and free time. He's irrelevant, balding, and pathological, but somehow his own monumental self-absorption is contagious and even we start taking the drama of his life too seriously. (More than zero = too seriously.)

Like, think about it. People make regular callout videos of this guy. And get invested on behalf of other people over what games he doesn't play! It's like "just do something else with your free time!"

DarksydePhil has something. I don't want to call it charisma. Maybe anti-charisma. Imagine Wally from Dilbert. But with zero wit. And never at any point having been funny as opposed to having been funny for a good spell around the turn of the century.

I first found Phil when evilAJ made the MGS3 TIHYDP. MGS3 was and still is my favorite game and of course I would look up different cutscenes etc. One day out of chance I click a video and see TIHYDP MGS3. Honestly at first, I thought that Phil was just making fun of himself for being bad by editing his playthrough and how bad he was. About a third of the way in it was apparent that it was not Phil but someone else making fun of Phil for how shit he was. I think I watch TIHYDP Dark Souls after but not other videos showed up for me (it was mid-late 2013 when I first saw all this) so I moved on.

A couple years later I watch another channel I like, InternetAristocrat aka. Jim, make fun of Phil and to my surprise that Phil is not only still around but selling dumb shit like underwear on his e-stores. What really activated my almonds was KG who tried so hard to take down Jim's video because his overlord would be upset by it. Then que me watching all of DSP between 2013-2015.

Woo fucking lawd what a trip that was. First, the amount of TIHYDPs was amazing. I loved watching those and it kept me entertained for fucking months with how dumb Phil is... then I ran out around the Crash Bandicoot 2 playthrough which was put behind a paywall. Then I got into DSP Tries It's which highlighted his shit vlogs and prestreams.

At first I thought it was all exaggerated but then I began tuning into the streams. My god, Phil is utter trash. It wasen't until Phil was so ecstatic to get to play Fallout 4 early (where to this day Phil says people who get early copies are elitist assholes) that I made my own videos on the asshat.

Sorry for the essay, but I felt this was a good place to put in my own story.

Rage quit compilation, one of the top three had footage of Phil's early days when he was nicknamed "King of Hate".

Now, 'That Guy' who makes a total dumb ass of himself isn't an interesting or standout thing at a public event, like every year there is some fan acting up in the stands, but man oh man Phil is one abusive cockroach, I thought to myself after reading his article.
 
I got a friend of mine into Metal Gear Solid, his enjoyment for MGS then led to DSP MGS TIHYDPs, which he got me into.

Initially I wanted to think that Phil was an "act", that he was some clever guy faking his stupidity/rage, boy how wrong was I!
 
I wanted to see a mission failed compilation for GTA San Andreas and a DSP montage was one of the first things that popped up. I immediately couldn't stand him being so bad at the simplest shit, yet I found his ineptitude too surreal and obnoxious to stop watching the video.
 
I found out about Phil back when he made that vlog about getting laid off from his Job a few years back. At some later point I was watching a Trihex stream where he watched that video again on stream and went into detail about all the shit that goes on with DSP. Been watching this (hilarious) shit show ever since.
 
One of those TIHYDP videos. Think it was the MGS one. I'd never heard someone so insufferable and unlikable. The more I watched the more I hated him. He's such a trainwreck I can't look away.
 
I remember one of my steam friends showed me a video of him a very long time ago, even before he did the face reveal, and I never really followed him, I knew about his existence but that was it.

He got to my attention once I started seeing TIHYDP videos and other montages
