It's more that the western side of game development has gotten so bad since the last decade, that I would trust far more the Japanese themselves (and Asians too) to make a western-stylized game.

Or even a Japanese/Asian game with cartoon visuals taking obvious inspirations of an european country culture or the USA's, make it look cool (no matter how stereotypical) and yet showing more love than you could ever expect from a western dev team these days.

Even with the few sprinkles and glimmers of hope, everything about video games these days is SEEPED in the blackest of sludge thanks to corrupt devs/publishers/stockholders/marketing and unwanted politics.

What is this, Reddit? Were you not there for all those journo articles about how anime games were bad because the characters were good looking and we needed more "realistic" depictions? They were trying to shame devs, including Japanese ones, into making characters that look like the freaks in this game. Of course it has to do with it. The fact that Sega bought into that bullshit and funded this atrocity is directly tied to all that shit.

Probably because there weren't no hyenas in the Middle East, so no retarded Jew or Muslim tried to eat one raw and get sick from it, so there was no need to create a blacklist of meats that'll kill you in respective religions to save people from themselves and their stupidity.

No one is going to convince me otherwise that the whole halal/kosher concept was a mean of tardwrangling the unwashed masses to not hurt themselves because some meat needs extra care preparing to not get sick from eating it.

EDIT: I was mistaken, there is a sizable hyena population in the Middle East. Perhaps by the weird criteria that were written they have omitted the fact that a lot of unclean meat is left as kosher, since when those texts were written humanity was yet to understand why some meat causes you to go sick while some is fine.

Then once kids did get some skins, they'd get bullied over not having the latest skins for whatever chapter/season/part/whatever of fortnite was current. This shit was actually going on back in 2018.

This feels like the modern-day equivalent of being bullied for having a generic MP3 player (or god forbid a Zune) instead of an iPod. Kids are such little assholes today. I'm glad I grew up in an era where people got bullied for shit like picking their nose in public or liking anime instead of feuding over who has the most expensive pixel collection.

They might be thinner and less comprehensive than before but personally, I'd still have them around simply because if the Carrington event repeats once again and all the hard drives in the world get fried, that's gonna be the only thing that will preserve the biggest cultural phenomena of the 21st century.

Kids have always been assholes. Before game skins or mp3 players, it was not having a name brand of shoes, not having baggy jeans, or whatever the fashion trend at the time was.. Hell, same shit as picking on the kid with glasses(which hilariously there's a lot of grown ass adults who just refuse to visit the optometrist but will then bitch about small text, small screens, etc. but that's a different discussion altogether). The only difference is that more kids "back in the day" had the balls to just tell the rest to fuck off or just sock the bully in the face to put a stop to it(before every school started punishing everyone equally no matter who actually caused the problem).

I would say its worse because at least those were physical goods, these are fucking pixels on a game and will all be gone when the servers are shut down.

For those saying "LOL, this got cancelled but Sonic Boom and 06 didn't", Sonic is so much of an autism singularity that it will still make it's money back by the fistfull, no matter how shit it is. It's also a kid orientedbrand which tend to have less scrutiny (lets ignore Sonic kissing the human girl for a sec).

Heynas on the other hand, purely on their disgusting designs, was targetting an older audience. Also, server costs would be a thing, so it's not like you could just release it as is digital only and recoup a few bucks from sellimg 100 copies. The server costs will also eat up into those margins and odds are some nip crunched the numbers and concluded that it was completely and utterly pointless.

Can we stop this "Sonic 06 le bad" meme? The game was UNFINISHED, not bad at it's foundations. Hell, most games these days release at worse states than it and never get fixed. Play Project '06 and see how good the game could have been with a few bug fixes and some time to polish everything, hell download the Xbox Live demo(if it's still around) and see how much better physics are in it than in the base game(only reason they never updated the base game was due to some shenanigans with PS3 version if I recall)
Also, if this really did cost them a hot billion, good luck getting that back willy nilly. Sonic isn't nearly the industry giant he used to be, it will take at least a couple of games to recoup that cost, when you consider the cost to make and market those games as well
