If I'm gonna play GTA, I don't wanna play Black lesbian Robin Hood who's actually-the-hero (per the GTA6 leaks). I wanna be Trevor Phillips. I wanna be a crank addict lunatic who beats people with a billy club for getting in my way or wearing a faggy hat. I want to simulate things I'd never do in real life.
 
I don't understand the "gaming is deeeeeaaad!!!" doomposters. I can clearly see that AAA is fucked, that is evident. The writing's on the wall: woke is on its way out, the brainelt pozzed brigade is being led out the back door, and in the current recession when nobody can afford to waste money on statements which pay lip service to a cause, yes, every studio is looking to cut back to the maximum. Good games with engaging gameplay can still happen still.

I remember seeing people play the beta for the game and everyone I saw play it hated it. Got a friend that tried too and quit after a match or two lol.

Probably trying to make their game the next big eSport, which takes years to establish.

But this is Current Year, where everything lives and dies on unsubstantiated hype and FOMO rather than its own merits.

Good games come these days out of random small studios who have no idea what the fuck a matchmaker is but know that a shotgun needs to be at minimum, as good as the Doom 2 Super Shotgun to be competetive these days and graphical fidelity is not replacement for a real art style.
 
Remember back in the 2010s when the market was filled with generic Modern Warfare inspired clones with desert drab color palettes. I feel like there should be a name for this trend of pastel colored garbage.

Are esports even a thing anymore? I remember everyone being crazy about korean nerds playing starcraft, but does anything actually happen now? Everything I ever knew about is dying.

At the beginning of the thread there's a post about a leak from CA where the goal for making hyenas it seems was to make a new IP separate from TW and TWW to quit relying on licensing or the historical since they own neither of these things. CA may have been told to make this new IP something in a new genre.
 
The game must have been really fargone if sega decided to cut their losses while being 1 billion deep.

I only ever knew creative assembly from warhammer games, and I have had a bad view of them since warhammer 3. Felt like such a downgrade from 2 and leaves a even more sour taste to thise day with newer dlc costing more with less characters in them. Another controversy they had in recent time.

just another front-loaded service game. the returns for these have reached 0 18mo ago. they can spend 100 bil on these games but the market has spoken. at least with this budget being declared other companies cant hide behind cost for product games. my guess is theyll double down on time-to-market, especially with howard taking his sweet assed time with ES6
