You mean RVs and trailer parks for hippies and trust fund kids?Does bullshit like "van life" and "tiny houses" count? cause I can rant about those two lunatic pipe dreams until the lolcows come home.
They either can't conceive of a job that isn't in a comfy air-conditioned office or they just don't care. They'll try to plaster it over with vague platitudes from r/antiwork but when all is said and done they're willing to sacrifice your comfort because they saw a postcard from some tiny Italian village and unironically believe they can recreate that vibe in a city that houses hundreds of thousands, many of which are only there for the local factory/tech jobs.As someone who has worked almost solely in manufacturing and warehousing work, I just don't get it. The idea of just taking jobs which almost universally have shitty schedules, uncomfortable working conditions, and high amounts of physical effort needed and just piling more bullshit onto it is insane. These urbanists are basically going "Aight, now you have to wait at work longer and walk a mile from the bus stop to get home because we need to make this city walkable for me!"
"Just accept living in a pod bro. Look, we even gave it wheels so you can move it wherever we need to send you. You don't need room to store your stuff, don't you know minimalism is heckin' poggers, goy? And with such attractive rates from Mr Noseberg's credit union, you can't afford not to turn yourself into a rootless transnational!"Does bullshit like "van life" and "tiny houses" count? cause I can rant about those two lunatic pipe dreams until the lolcows come home.
SASUGA NIPPON
Imagine being so broken as a person that you unironically believe "it's convenient so it's bad!" is a real argument. I could bike up that hill but instead I use a motor-powered vehicle because I don't live in 1854. Seethe and mald about it.So the arguments against walking based cities are:
* Being too lazy to bike up hills
* Female brained neurosis about getting mugged by brown people
* Commie blocks are bad(even though they already exist in a shitty car based society
I swear to god if one more of these types pull up and set out lawn chairs on my damn greenbelt and say "I'm not bothering anyone maaaaaan" when I confront them I'm going to throw their lawn chair and guitar into the fucking street.Does bullshit like "van life" and "tiny houses" count? cause I can rant about those two lunatic pipe dreams until the lolcows come home.
Go right ahead. They are bugmen in my books.Does bullshit like "van life" and "tiny houses" count? cause I can rant about those two lunatic pipe dreams until the lolcows come home.
There is one way.Guess what, there is no short cut out of the rat race.
If they were able to own up to the holes in their grandiose plans, these shitty 'Tubers wouldn't have such idealistic views to begin with. Thinking you can just wish your way to transforming a US city into a European one should be a litmus test for retardation. So I don’t mind having better designed cities but I feel like a lot of these channels are disingenuous. in my opinion they want to bulldoze over small towns and suburbia. And they don’t want to admit that there’s a reason people are trying to flee the city. I say this as someone who unfortunately grew up in the center of a large city. I hate it with a passion. The public transport was ok, but that didn’t make up for the crime, the assholes, and the general bs that Democrats tout as normal.
I do hate a lot of the HOAs, zoning laws, etc., but I don’t want to live in an overpriced city hell scape.
I see where you're coming from, and I can understand the appeal of van life for someone who is single or doesn't have a family. However, there are definitely some downsides to van life that you haven't considered. For one thing, it can be very difficult to find legal places to park your van overnight - especially if you want to avoid camping in remote areas (which can be dangerous). Additionally, living in a van full-time means giving up many of the comforts and conveniences of home, including running water, electricity, and reliable internet access. And while it's true that there are scumbag homeowners out there, at least they usually don't trespass or litter on your property!I dunno man, I'm not someone who necessarily needs a huge amount of indoor space, and if I didn't have a family the Van Life thing might have appeal. Don't like the neighbourhood? Go to a different one for the price of half a tank of gas. Long commute? Just park near work during the week then somewhere quiet at the weekend. Maybe near the beach, or in the forest. You'd basically get to retire to the countryside every weekend.
Yes there's assholes who trespass, litter and behave like jackasses, but there's scumbag homeowners too, and getting them out of your hair if you're unlucky enough to live near one is a much longer and more contrived process than telling some dude in a Transit to take a hike or you'll have him towed.
It's particularly obnoxious when these people use high gas prices as a gotcha for why we need to restructure our cities. I can understand someone that has a goal that isn't actionable in 10 years or even 20 years, but people need relief from high gas prices now, not in 10 years. If they were able to own up to the holes in their grandiose plans, these shitty 'Tubers wouldn't have such idealistic views to begin with. Thinking you can just wish your way to transforming a US city into a European one should be a litmus test for retardation.
It's a neoliberal's wet dream to have a population that all has the same needs, and these needs do not vary between region or ethnic subgroup. It's an idea that they clearly want to promote, whether it be Disney trying to make its movies have global appeal, or more overt in the form of thinkpieces that usually come in the form of "The Chinese are using this one weird trick to keep their female population down. Why aren't we doing this?" Because I don't care what stinky chinkies are doing. They have their way of doing things and I have mine and you got another thing coming if you think I'm gonna be brainwashed into behaving like a chink.Another thing they will absolutely never admit is that people aren't the same. Much like how some countries can leave vending machines unattended without them being vandalized in under an hour, some fare better living in cities. If I had to live around niggers in an environment that bends the knee to them, I'd be clawing my way out into the countryside as well.
>if I'm going to suffer you should suffer too! Finally, there's this perverse mentality of "if I'm sacrificing for this supposedly good cause, I will force all of you to do it as well." Circumstances be damned, everybody is going to get on a bike, whether you're a useless urban hipster or someone who needs a car as part of your job. Fortunately, these types of people are normally too stupid and unhinged to influence anyone.
You could also ride a bike.Fuck this fucking retard, i get his retarded ass takes pushed onto my feed every single day, yeah the people who just want to be left the hell alone and leave others alone are actually jack booted fascists fuck off and neck your self retard.
Commie blocks are efficient at what they do (mass housing) but they're fucking miserable to live in, these idiots screeching in praise of commie architecture only prove how apathetic leftists are, and their general lack of individual consideration. I'm starting to believe they legit see the rest of humanity as literal NPCs who only exist to fill up their backdropThe gist of this commie blocks good argument I've come across is that they house a lot of people, ignoring that commie black housing traditionally centers around number of possible families that can be housed meaning that the apartments are cramped as shit. The skyscrapers rant is mostly him whining about how the floors are rented out by various corporations for business and commerce and could be used to house people or some shit, even though that isn't financially viable with the way those monstrosities are designed.
I had friend like this in college. He was from a major city and went to a college in the sticks. He would always bitch about how far everything was and that we were all dumb rednecks who needed cars to get everywhere. But did his tune change when he needed to get somewhere. If you couldn't give him a ride you were a piece of shit and a bad friend. That's common among urbanite bug people. They are almost always selfish and other people only exist for their convenience. Not to say hillbillies can't be shitheads but it's an overwhelming majority with city dwellers. This is their Achilles' heel right here. I've known city bugmen and while they didn't explicitly espouse anti-car sentiment, they were carless and subject to similar lefty mindviruses. And these niggers wanted a ride everywhere all the fucking time. This was before Uber, so they were naturally bugging me constantly for rides, all the while gushing about how great public transit is. What a lot of these people actually mean is "I want the benefits of vehicle ownership but I'm too much of a fuckup to afford and safely operate a car, so I'll use the old smug cope"
Literally every single one of your points is something cars can do better. You could also ride a bike.
Cycling is the most based way of transportation :
1. You're alone, no stinking obese single moms in your vicinity, unlike in public transportation
2. You get to exercise, so you won't become the stinking obese single mom yourself
3. You don't release disgusting microparticles that poisons mankind and causes cancers into the air
4. If you live in a hilly place, electric bikes are the solution
